DizzyM I'm trying to get an appt they're short staffed.

Can't help with ivf but I'm here to support you xxx

BorisIsBack · 04/05/2016 16:35

I felt that reprofit were pretty good. And for the price (about a third of the UK) it was great!!! I coukdbt justify the price difference just to use a nearer clinic....

I had the bloods done here (day 3 Abd day 21) and initial scans and HSG. My co- ordinatot at reprofit wasn't good but she's unusual for them (lucies is great you could get her contact details). Reprofit have a 24 hour emergency phone line which helped me when I needed it - that was reasurring. I felt reasonably well supported - especially having lucie and the girls from the other thread to support as well. Reprofit made it all feel very calm and normal!

I don't think I can justify the price either boris. It's reassuring that they've got a 24 hour emergency line as my main worry is not knowing what to do if things don't go to plan. I've got my day 21 test next Monday and will speak to my GP about having day 3 bloods done. We'll have to have the rest of my tests done privately as my GP won't arrange them for us. I'm actually thinking to get these done next cycle so I'm not overwhelmed with everything and they'll be out of the way. I had the email from Tina so don't know if that means she will be our coordinator if we get to that stage. I'll pop over to the other thread when the time comes. Thanks for all the info lovely.

Kellz thanks lovely. Hope you manage to get an appointment.

BorisIsBack · 04/05/2016 17:04

You don't need the HSG (and it's grim) before ivf. So if that's not offered on the nhs then don't worry.

You will need to find a local private dildocam centre for the scans. Round my way we have a babybond clinic who charge £99 a scan and I needed 3 scans pre egg collection and had one after (to play spot the baby). One of the big costs is for drugs - you can shop around and check prices to save £100s.

Tina would be your coordinator - as long as That's not Cristina (Capra) you'll be fine (she's driven me mad).

OP posts:
DizzyMerry · 04/05/2016 18:07

I'm relieved that I won't need a HSG! I had one a few years ago and can say it was the most horrific thing to ever happen to me. It's something I would never wish to have repeated. This is all really helpful. I'll watch out for Cristana and avoid her if she comes my way!

Kellz92 · 04/05/2016 23:13

Thanks DizzyM hope everything goes well for you xx

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 05/05/2016 00:16

Kellz I hope you get your appointment soon as I can imagine you'd want to talk to your GP - that level of pain sounds terrible.

Magpie Glad you're feeling calmer...of course the big question is, will you buy more pee sticks?! They should definitely come with a sanity warning for both pre and post bfp!

DizzyN I really hope you manage to change your shirts! You're right about timing re. talking with DP - I'll have to do better. Fx that ov comes around soon - I feel like I have wished away half my life waiting for ov and then waiting for af.

DizzyM You're very proactive! Definitely a good idea to get all the information now though so you're more clued up if you do go down the IVF route. I can imagine that you would have many apprehensions but it sounds like a great clinic. I also would have no issues with going abroad for IVF (in case you're canvassing for opinions!)

Dr Sher is a fertility specialist. He's popped up a lot in my google searches, and I've also seen him mentioned on MN too DizzyM. I really struggled to find information about ASAs apart from on medical papers, and his clinic was one of the few that went into detail. Anyway, you can also ask him questions online and set up a skype call. For me, he agreed that DP's ASA levels are way too high, and that we should skip IUI and go for ICSI. I did tell DP but not that it was over the internet as I can already imagine his Hmm face! Grin

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 05/05/2016 00:18

Your shifts! Sorry DizzyN, I honestly have no issues with your personal hygiene Grin

Kellz92 · 05/05/2016 09:23

Thanks Genghis Its not nice when im not used to it! just glad it stays a few hrs max and thats all

xx

Kellz92 · 05/05/2016 14:59

Couldnt see the GP until June so got the Nurse Practitioner on Wednesday

xx

MagpieCursedTea · 06/05/2016 12:59

DizzyN have you manage to change your shift yet? I hope you get to keep your appointment!

DizzyM it's good to plan ahead I think, it takes the pressure off everything you're doing now.

Genghis I'm still doing daily pee sticks Blush I can't stop myself! It's reassuring though. Getting a bit of advice from a fertility expert online seems like a really sensible thing to do! Sounds like you got some helpful advice.

Kellz all the best for your appointment!

Kellz92 · 06/05/2016 13:27

Thanks Magpie

DH got his results back and they are satisfactory for his age and wont cause problems in conceiving,

so im the problem haha
xx

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 07/05/2016 09:33

I can't believe you wouldn't be able to see your GP until June?! Shock so glad that you'll be able to see the nurse next week Kellz. That's great news about your DH's results - at least it's one less thing to worry about.

Hello Magpie and everyone else - hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend!

DizzyMerry · 07/05/2016 12:09

Ghengis your post about dizzy's shirts made me Grin I'm amazed you managed to get advice online form a fertility specialist. Dr Sher sounds proactive and forward thinking. His advice seems helpful and means you can go straight to IVF with ICSI and bypass other avenues which, to him, may not be beneficial. Exciting stuff!

Kellz I'm pleased your DH's results are ok. The situation with GP's at the moment is depressing and I can't believe you have to wait so long to see yours. Hope the appointment with the nurse goes well.

I'm 5dpo and pleased to report I've had no crazy dreams this time! No symptoms either and I haven't turned into a crazed loon yet Grin We're having the talk tonight of when to go for the IVF. It is looking like we may go for it in July.

Kellz92 · 07/05/2016 12:38

I know Genghis 2 drs went on maternity leave and 2 retired at the start if the year and instead of replacing they just took on more nurse practitioners.
But I'm happy for him, he was upset that they were lower than last time he had been tested but that was 4 years ago lol. The dr was still happy with the result.
One thing down.

DizzyM Its horrendous but at least the nurse practitioner can still get bloods sorted and prescribe things etc so hopefully.

Going to see if they will give me a blood test to see if I'm pregnant or not because I have all the symptoms from when I had keira, and also get checked to see if I'm not deficient in anything.

Fx for you and IVF and glad youre not turning loony

xx

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 09/05/2016 09:10

Hello everyone!

Kellz sounds like a good idea about the blood test especially with the way your AF has also been. Good luck for Wednesday!

DizzyM I wish it meant I could bypass but my doctor wants to try IUI first. I'm kind of torn as in, I don't mind trying IUI and it will be less invasive, and sure I've already waited 17 months, what's another month or two? But the other part keeps watching the time tick by...I hope your talk with DH went well? It's great that you are going to have a plan in place - makes it feel like things are actually happening.

DizzyN I hope you manage to go to the doctor's today..

Jod are you still out there? Hope you are doing well.

No news from me - cd 21 and just hoping AF arrives early so no doubt she'll be late. Still no sign of my thermometer arriving :)

DizzyMerry · 09/05/2016 09:29

Ghengis ah ok, so you have to go the IUI route first. You're right though it's less invasive and at least you're doing something rather than sitting around waiting so things are moving. Thinking about it a fertility specialist said to us last week we would find it impossible to conceive without IVF but lo and behold we did exactly that a month later. Yes, it ended in mmc but it happened. Have you been given any dates as to when you can start? We've had the chat and decided to go for it in July after my period so that's two natural cycles until then. It all feels so overwhelming and I'm not so excited anymore. I'm having day 21 bloods today too and I'm hoping theyre at a decent level for a change one can but hope!

Kellz how are you feeling now? Not too long to wait for your appointment and fx you get the results you want.

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 09/05/2016 10:04

Good luck with the blood test DizzyM. I'm glad you've had your talk - it's such a big step so I can imagine your feelings. At least you've received lots of information from the clinic already so you can kind of get your head around the process, and everything it entails. After your bloods, what are your next steps?

I can start the IUI whenever I want (that sounds weird) - I just need to contact my doctor on cd1 and then start the medication on cd 5. He was quite thorough in what the process entailed (can't wait for a daily dildocam) just unfortunately they're unable to freeze sperm so it has to suit dp's travel arrangements and they change frequently. At the moment I should be able to start at the end of June but if AF arrives early maybe at the end of this month..

Good luck again for your test, and fx for high levels!

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 09/05/2016 10:12

By the way everyone, throw away your frers - I just read about homemade pregnancy tests - basically you just need any of these: toothpaste, bleach, pine cones (also twigs and leaves), dandelion leaves or sugar. Add urine, if it fizzes you're pregnant.

Disclaimer: they may not be reliable Grin

Kellz92 · 09/05/2016 11:18

Genghis thank you.I'm really nervous for it. I don't think I'll try that home made test lol.

dizzym Fx for you. Glad it's all moving. Hope you're more excited again.

I'm still feeling rotten thanks for asking. I'm really nervous for my appt scared that they will think it's in my head. Anyone would think I'm symptom spotting. Horrendous heartburn,so tired I'm napping. I never nap. Really nauseous, been sick a couple of times, bloated I'm so puffed out. Even more than usual lol. Cramping too I actually haven't to take paracetamol.

I keep going to the toilet as I feel af is here but it's cm.

I just want to get back to ttc

Xx

DizzyMerry · 09/05/2016 11:25

Ghengis it's great that you can start as soon as you're both ready. I forgot to ask how does IUI work? Not wishing to sound thick but I don't even know what it means! The dildocam is always a pleasure...NOT!!!

DH has an appointment with the GP on Wednseday and will hopefully be able to get his SA done. I will need to have the rest of my tests done privately and will have those after my AF in June as the private clinic will be able to provide the results straightaway. Will then submit all the info to Reprofit and then hoping to start after AF in July.

Grin at the all natural pregnancy tests! I think I should bin my last FRER considering the recent issue with these giving false positives and therefore false hope to people. I fear a false positive will just tip me over the edge!

DizzyMerry · 09/05/2016 11:31

Kellz fx they do your bloods. I can't imagine what you must be going through right now mentally but given your symptoms I hope they take you seriously.

Kellz92 · 09/05/2016 13:10

Thanks DizzyM I have symptom spitted before but not at this stage in my cycle and it's been a few months so hope they do. Will let you know how I get on x

BorisIsBack · 09/05/2016 17:14

Kellz thoes symptoms sound exciting. Great news that you feel rotten (sorry!)

Genghis I love your pregnancy test!
Bloody brilliant. Hope you get to start the iui soon. Can you not ground your DH to be at home for a couple of months? Frustrating he travels so much.

Dizzym july will be here before you know it! I think czech will be hot then! Book a hotel with aircon....

Waves to everyone else.

I hope it's ok to let you know but we had a 12 week scan today. Hope it doesn't upset anyone to say my baby waved at us and had its legs crossed zen style.... Amazing. Made all the ivf injections, dildo cam moments and scheduled, passion killing, DTD sessions worth it.
