jod sorry you're still waiting. It took a long time for my AF to come after my chemical (got to cd50 odd if I remember correctly). Hope you don't have long to wait.

All - I've posted on the fb group but I have a few ic ovulation sticks going free if anyone wants them?

DizzyNorthernBird · 15/04/2016 20:11

magpie we didn't get to dtd before the temp rise as I was at work last night. My ovaries totally have it in for me! I've been considering doing the pcos diet to sort them out but it's pretty brutal, not sure if I could stick at it. Have you looked into whether diet changes could help you? I could send you the link to what I've been reading if you want it. Hope you get your dates through soon though and your body starts behaving itself!

Flowers jod. I think you might have to put this down to your body still adjusting to coil removal. Really hope things sort themselves out soon.

dizzym my DP doesn't seem to get it at all. Today we had a conversation about getting his results, and as far as he's concerned if his sperm is crap then it's game over for us, and if this is the case he can't see why I would still need to go for further tests......He doesn't understand that, firstly sperm quality can be improved, and secondly we already know there's a problem with me but I can't get a further referral until we've ticked the box to say his SA is done, regardless of the results. I don't know what else to say to him, I can't make it any bloody clearer!

DizzyNorthernBird · 15/04/2016 20:22

genghis it's like men want to put their heads in the sand and not admit to problems or accept help, isn't it? My DP won't do ivf but that's fine by me because I wouldn't want to do it either (the thought of spending so much money on something which might never happen scares the bejeezus out of me, so I'm happy to admit defeat if that's our only option left) But before we get to that stage I will take every test and procedure on offer. I can get where you're coming from with your DP putting restrictions on things despite wanting children. Mine says things like 'oh I wish you'd just hurry up and get pregnant', but when it comes to my fertile window he gets bored of ttc sex very quickly and is only prepared to do it a few times - which is difficult when there's hesitant ovaries like mine! God forbid if I mentioned smep or dtd eod! I don't get it. I suppose it comes back down to home feeling it's all very unnatural. He always likes to reminisce that with his ex they did it once mid month and she got upduffed first time both times. Well bully for her but she's still a miserable twisted spiteful old bitch

Anyway. I'm ranty this evening!!

Hope everyone else is well!

kirjava saw your post, I've given up on opks but thanks for the offer Smile

MagpieCursedTea · 15/04/2016 21:01

DizzyN I've given up sugary food and try to have wholegrain rather than refined carbs since my diagnosis. I've read a few things about diets for PCOS but always happy to get more info if you can send me some. I'd love to be able to reduce my carbs even more but I'm veggie (and a carb addict!) so struggle without them.
Sorry that your DP isn't getting his head round things. The comments about his ex would give me serious rage though!

Genghis that's exactly it, my whole reproductive system is trying to drive me crazy and succeeding! Can't be long until your appointment, was it next week some time?

DizzyM thanks lovely! How's things with you?

Jod sorry for another bfn. I hope you get out of limbo soon!

I had an almost positive OPK today and more EWCM. I'm trying not to get too excited as I don't have much faith in my body but I'm a bit hopeful for ovulation. DH is annoyingly positive about it all but I think a big part of that is him not wanting me to need Clomid this time around as it wasn't great for me mentally (though I still think a big part of that was the very stressful work situation I was in at the time).

DizzyNorthernBird · 15/04/2016 21:28

magpie I' gave up sugar for a while but I'm eating it again now and struggling to quit Hmm it's so hard to break the addiction. The book I was reading did have advice for vegetarians so it might be helpful to you, will post the link.

The diet is basically no refined sugar, dairy, gluten, fried foot, low carb and certain fruits and legumes aren't allowed either. It's supposedly similar to paleo/Atkins which I always thought were a bit extreme. I don't think I'd last 2 days on it but I know I can manage sugar and gluten free so if I can just quit them again it's a start!

I maybe worded that badly about DP and his ex, he doesn't reminisce, he's just matter of fact about it. But it doesn't help us.

DizzyNorthernBird · 15/04/2016 21:31

magpie here's the link if it works

www.activhealth.co.uk/images/pcosbook.pdf

It's a long read, 400 pages plus but very interesting (I haven't read it all yet!)

DizzyMerry · 15/04/2016 22:13

It's a really tough one dizzy. On the face of it I would be saying he's selfish and I used to say that to my DH when he'd drag his heels but then I think they just don't get it's all consuming for us as we analyse each aspect of ttc and get no respite. Maybe he is now worried about his results after thinking all is well with him (I do hope it still is) and hope he comes round and realises there's so many options for you to explore yet.

Magpie it seems to be going well for you. Yay for the almost positive opk. I'm cheering ov on for you!

Ghengis glad you've got your paperwork sorted and hope your DP gets his done too. How exciting to be wedding planning! Can't wait to hear all about it. I've given up with the symptom spotting as I'm just not feeling it and also got a bfn today at 12dpo so that's that then.

DH has been looking at the NICE guidelines as said he should be offered another SA following previous abnormal results so he's decided that rather than going private at this stage he should speak to his GP and see if they can arrange this. I'm not too happy with this as it's just prolonging things but I had a telephone consultation with my GP and she said as I had my prog tests over a year ago they can be repeated but to ring back after AF arrives. DH wants to do all he can to avoid IVF as he finds it all clinical whereas I'm just happy to crack on ConfusedHmm

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 16/04/2016 03:02

DizzyM Sorry about the BFN Flowers and you're so right about them not comprehending how all-consuming it is for us. My DP just cannot get his head around it at all. Sorry to hear about your DP wanting to go down the 'slower' route. It's hard because it just seems that everything seems to take so long with TTC. Good news that you will get your prog. tests again soon though!

Magpie great news about the nearly positive OPK. Great timing for the weekend :) My appointment is Tuesday morning - I thought I'd be more anxious but am actually looking forward to it and seeing what he has to say.

DizzyN That sounds very frustrating about your DP and the results. After those comments, you definitely deserved a rant btw! Like you say, it may be the truth but it's not much help to you! The cost/success rate of ivf will also be a factor for us so in the meantime I'm just hoping the doctor will come up with something else on Tuesday.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

MagpieCursedTea · 16/04/2016 12:25

DizzyN the sugar addiction is a hard one to crack, I've found it gets easier now I'm a few weeks in. Had to really resist the urge to eat cake yesterday though.
That diet sounds very restrictive, not sure I could stick to that and think I'd just fall apart and end up in a mountain of chocolate. I find it easier to make little changes but also be a bit flexible. Much easier to stick to!
Thanks for the link, looks like an interesting read.

DizzyM it's good that you've got a plan of action, the amount of time everything takes can be so frustrating though! Hope they get the next round of tests done quickly.

Genghis it must feel like you've been waiting ages for this appointment, no wonder you're looking forward to it.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I've got a cold and I'm feeling sorry for myself. OPK was just about positive, it never went completely positive last month but was close to it, my temps last month didn't show ovulation though. Hoping it's not a repeat of that!

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 17/04/2016 13:26

Magpie I hope you're feeling better? Did you end up with a positive OPK? I hope your temps have been increasing!

MagpieCursedTea · 17/04/2016 16:24

Genghis I'm still ill, OPKs still aren't quite positive and my temps are still low. Feeling quite sorry for myself! Hope you're having a better weekend than me!

MagpieCursedTea · 17/04/2016 20:30

This is my collection of OPKs. The bottom two are from today and the previous three were yesterday (not that I'm obsessing) and the others were from the days before. I think yesterday's were the darkest but still not positive.

Welcome to bumsnet
loopylou1984 · 17/04/2016 20:57

I agree magpie, but not strong enough to be positive. What CD are you on? Xx

MagpieCursedTea · 17/04/2016 21:11

CD29 today, I've been getting EWCM and was so hopeful I'd actually ovulate for once. The same thing happened last month (earlier in my cycle though) and I didn't get a temp rise but did get AF about 12 days later. It's like my body is trying to ovulate but not quite managing to pop an egg out.

loopylou1984 · 17/04/2016 21:18

You're on clomid aren't you? Perhaps you just need a higher dose?

I don't know that much about it, but I do remember a lovely lady on here who had to up her dose a few times before her body actually popped out an egg. Xx

MagpieCursedTea · 17/04/2016 21:25

No I had Clomid to have DS (then tried using the left over Clomid a few months back Blush but didn't have any luck). I started on metformin for PCOS a few weeks back though which is giving me hope/causing me to drive myself crazy with hope.

Rainy34 · 18/04/2016 16:26

Boris Thankyou Vegas was lovely, how are you? x

Dizzy hope you are well, yeah Vegas was fun, trying to get back into Uk timezone is really hard, waking up at 4am starving, go back to work tomorrow so hoping that gets me back into a routine!

Magpie i am calling this the vegas cycle too, went to Michael Kors outlet to buy a bag, which is so much cheaper, i got back to the hotel to only find out i had bought a changing bag!! I'm hoping its a lucky omen!!

Jod Hi remind me is this your first cycle off birth control, hoping you are out of limbo soon!!

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 18/04/2016 21:59

Hello everyone!

Rainy Glad you had a nice holiday and good luck going back to work (at least you didn't start back on Monday - small mercies!)

Jod How are you getting on?

Magpie I hope you're on the mend now, and that ov did happen? It's so hard when you're sooooo close. Can they up the dose of metformin, or doesn't it work that way?

Sammy how are you? Did you end up having your meeting with your clinic? I hope you're feeling okay x

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 19/04/2016 00:58

Sorry for all the posts but just to give you an update from my appointment.

Basically he's recommended medicated IUI.

The Dr. was happy with our results and couldn't see any issues - we discussed my concerns over DP's sample but he wasn't particularly concerned and thinks that the after being washed, there should be a high enough number of healthy sperm.

He advises that we give IUI a number of attempts before moving towards IVF. I still have a few doubts after my extensive googling Grin but am happy to try this first, and am also really happy that we're finally doing something. I think DP is happy to go down this route (well not happy but willing) but now we have to work out dates as he travels a lot for weeks on end :(

In other news, waiting on AF...

BorisIsBack · 19/04/2016 06:58

Genghis that sounds pretty standard to me. Fx it works :) hope you get some dates and timeframes sorted soon.

Rainy I'm doing good thanks. How was getting back to work? Where are you in cycle clomid now?

OP posts:
GenghisKahnSchmitz · 19/04/2016 08:33

Yes, I think so too Boris. AF has arrived so at least I can start working out dates - hooray! I hope you're keeping well x

MagpieCursedTea · 19/04/2016 09:30

Genghis I'm sure the doctor will have had at least completed one unit in advanced googling when doing his medical degree Wink so glad you've got a plan in place and I hope you get the dates sorted soon. Progress!
I'm recovering from the cold thanks. I think the metformin can be increased as I'm on a relatively small dose but we need to wait for the gynaecologist appointment that's not been sent out yet.

Rainy sounds like a sign to me! I hope the jet lag is easing and your first day back at work goes smoothly.

How's everyone else doing? It's been a quiet weekend in here apart from my constant OPK posts Blush
My temps are up but I'm not getting too excited as I've had quite disturbed sleep the last couple of nights.

Kellz92 · 19/04/2016 10:06

Hope you're all OK, been stupid busy.

CD16 here ewcm and crampy. Hubby booked himself an appt yesterday to get his swimmers checked. Booked it without even speaking about it so I'm happy she's that desperate as me to get pregnant xx

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 19/04/2016 10:10

I shall ask to see his results next time Magpie! But you're right, it is progress - the only thing that makes me a bit sad is that if DP wasn't heading off in a couple of weeks I actually could start the process within a few days. I think we may be able to time it for June though... I shall be taking gonal f and ovitrelle in case anyone's interested probably just my mum. Glad to read you're on the mend and fingers crossed that your appointment comes through soon. What were your OPKs like yesterday and today?

In not very exciting other news, I ordered a basal thermometer today. I actually trudged around three chemists and one health care/medical equipment shop before admitting defeat (they hadn't a clue what I was on about) and it should soon be winging its way to my parents who, no doubt, will be quite intrigued Grin

GenghisKahnSchmitz · 19/04/2016 10:14

Good news Kellz - I like your DH's proactivity!
