Ladies, what would you do if you were us? I mentioned DP going to Barbados on the last page (Zika virus confirmed their) He is freelance/self employed and it's not a company that is sending him. He is going over to meet a potential client, so no company to change the date for him etc. he has booked the flight (£500) but not acommodation yet. He is very attractive to mosquitoes, he had a terrible time when we went to Cuba. If this were you, would you & your DP/DH decide the risk wasn't worth it & postpone? I know we'll lose £500 which is not ideal, especially as our clomid package will cost us nearly that, but I feel like all i'll do is stress & worry if I do get pregnant, wondering "what if he did get Zika & just didn't show symptoms?" It can be passed on through sexual contact so it would obviously be passed for me.

I'm worrying terribly. Can anyone tell me what they'd do in my boat? Should he call Thomas Cook (who he booked with?)

RoseBud2016 · 07/02/2016 14:04

Honestly Village I wouldn't be taking the risk personally. Some airlines and holiday companies are giving refunds for people who were planning to travel to affected areas. If you said you are midway through infertility treatment ( which isn't technically a lie) then they may be more willing to refund if they don't have a policy in place yet.
Could the business meeting be done vie Skype instead? Or could you fly the client to the uk instead? Could your DH be honest with the clinic about ttc? Just trying to think of alternative options that stop it impacting on your DHs business.
My DH had to postpone important business meeting while we were in Czech. He told them the truth and they were all very understanding!
Maybe phone Thomas Cook as a first step and see, but yes we would lose the money if that was the only option.

Client not clinic Blush Clearly I have the clinic in my mind at the mo!

If I do give agnus a go, it won't be on the same cycle as soy...

My cycles are all over the place. When I first came off the pill for ttc I had 8-9 months of nothing, went to the doctor who said it could take up to a year, but did bloods anyway. Bloods indicated possibility of PCOS, GP sent me for an ultrasound/to a gynea specialist. Referrals took a few months. Gynea gave me norethisterone to induce a bleed. Got told to go to gp and get more if I ever went more than 3 months again without a bleed. After the norethisterone bleed I did have a natural very light bleed about 2 and a half months later. 3 months after that I had a norethisterone induced bleed (this was beginning of Dec 2015).

Though I'm currently coming towards the end of a natural period which is quite exciting, and I had some signs of ov'ing (first time since ttc!) approx 13/14 days before it started. I'm hoping that soy will possibly mean I ovulate again, and shorten my cycle...

We'll see what happens. I've also got FC appointment coming up on March 21st. Hoping that I will have another period by then.

CwtchyQ · 07/02/2016 16:01

village I also would not take the risk, mostly because I am an awful worrier.

ain sounds like things have taken a turn for you! I look forward to hearing if the soy helps. Had you been doing anything differently to induce your period?

Ain626 · 07/02/2016 17:34

Other than trying to lose weight I haven't been doing anything different. I've lost about 20lbs from my heaviest. It is hard, weight comes off very slowly, though since joining slimming world it has picked up a little. I'm still very overweight though and am going to stick with the sw. Had a bad week this week mind, been off sick and feeling pretty crappy so just been eating whatever I fancy!

Increasing my fertility is definitely a key incentive.

Something that I am worried may have contributed in some way is that when I was in my late teens I had some serious food issues and was diagnosed with bulimia. From bulimia I moved in to having binge eating disorder and put on loads of weight in a short amount of time. I managed to (mostly) stop the binge eating and stayed at a constant weight for my mid-late 20s. Now I am trying to lose it again in a healthy way, with a definite key goal.

Overshare?

CwtchyQ · 07/02/2016 18:26

ain not at all! If not here, then where? If it makes you feel any better, I've been off this week too so have probably not lost any! I don't weigh in until Thursday though so there's still some time! I think that weight - for PCOSers who carry extra weight - is crucial for us. I was half a stone lighter than I am now when I got pregnant with DD, so I want to recreate those conditions if that makes sense Grin

As for your eating disorder contributing, I wouldn't think so at all. Don't even think about it, it sounds like you've had a hard enough ride as it is. I also think chilling the fuck out is key, so I'm going to meditation classes from tomorrow. I don't even recognise myself Grin

Tryingtowait · 07/02/2016 18:41

It is good to share ain how do you find slimming world? I don't know if I could stand there in front of everyone and get weighed so would probably do it online if I did it

CwtchyQ · 07/02/2016 18:55

trying I do SW too and it really works for me. They don't ever disclose your weight to anyone. Weighing in is quite private. If you go to group and stay after being weighed, they just talk about everyone's week, losses or gains, and it's a really good source of support. I have lost 10lbs this month so it's definitely worth looking into

stealthbanana · 07/02/2016 21:14

Well done ponty & Ain on weight loss. Ain 20lbs is stellar!

Hello to everyone else from the Middle East. Am here for a few days. Am pleased - I can focus on work as I grind through the 2ww...plus no temptation to poas early as I didn't bring any hpts with me!

RoseBud2016 · 07/02/2016 21:16

Hi all!

I got home last night and have spent a bit of time updating our stats sheet- to include Bananas fab news, and peoples changes in meds.

Just a few things I'm missing:

Lucinda and Sunny How old are you both? Are either of you on any meds at the mo?

Trying How long have you been ttc? Are you on any meds?

Ain It's never possible to overshare here Flowers You have been through a lot and deserve lots of support and a place to vent when you need to Smile You are doing amazingly- your cycles are beginning to sort themselves out a little and you are getting on the soy train with Dizzy- you have a plan! What dose do you two ladies intend to take and on which days? Our stats sheet shows what others have done in the past. Although as Chandelier points out- it hasn't been very successful on this thread (although I know other threads differ)

Chandelier I'm so happy to hear that things are going well for you with your little prawn- seeing the heartbeat must have been so special- huge congratulations!

Stealth Where abouts are you? Somewhere fabulous? x

Ain626 · 07/02/2016 22:12

Thank you for being so supportive. It's part of my history that very few people know about, and posting about it (even from behind a username) is difficult. But in a way it's kind of nice to talk about it... iykwim.

As for sw trying as has been said the actual weigh in is very private. And then it's up to you if you want to stay to group (I normally stay) and talk about any losses or gains. You can stay to group and not discuss your week and just listen if you want. Everyone in the group I go to is very supportive. I weigh in on Tuesday and was hoping to get my stone award on Tuesday just gone. (Stone from when I started sw, not from my highest weight). But I didn't go as was ill. Will go this week and I will have gained as I put on when I was feeling rough (let myself eat what I wanted as was feeling sorry for myself). But I'm going to get myself back on track. I won't get my stone this coming Tuesday, but hopefully the one after...

stealth sounds exciting. Hope you're having fun wherever you are!

CwtchyQ · 07/02/2016 22:14

stealth I'm jealous! Sounds fabulous!

stealthbanana · 08/02/2016 03:15

Not that fabulous - am here for work! In Doha and to Dubai tomorrow. At least it's warm!

VillageFete · 08/02/2016 09:38

Well that's a relief!!! Thomas Cook are letting him swap his flight!!!! It's just chosing another date now that will be tricky. It must be a real threat as they barely asked him any questions, and said yes straight away.

Ain626 · 08/02/2016 09:51

That's good village would it be possible to fly the client here instead as to not impact business too much?

VillageFete · 08/02/2016 10:26

This was proposed Ain But potential client was very happy to wait until later in the year, thank goodness. Left the ball in DP's court. Now, I need to hurry up & get pregnant Confused

CwtchyQ · 08/02/2016 10:58

That's great news village, you must be so relieved! I'm sure it will happen for you!

stealth it must be better than gloomy England! This weather is so depressing

I'm having one of those days where getting pregnant is all I can think about. We are managing to BD every other day (god help me) and I'm popping about 10 different pills every morning, just waiting on bloody ov! I've had a shitty cold for 3 weeks now, I'm sure it's not helping.

How is everyone?

RoseBud2016 · 08/02/2016 12:04

Village so glad Thomas Cook agreed to a refund! Thought they probably would in the circumstances because it is so serious. That must be such a relief for you both. Have you thought anymore about whether to try Clomid or not?

Cwtchy I know that feeling only too well! Flowers For me SMEP sort of made that worse because I was constantly having to think about when we were DTD next.... So unsexy! But it's worth a try to cover all bases! Fingers crossed you'll ov soon! X

rose I'm only on month 2 ttc number 2. Ds 1 was a happy surprise before him I used to go 6 months without periods and I was younger so hadn't been trying to conceive so was very lucky.
I had the depo and bled for a year afterwards. They seem to have regulated my cycles now so this month I'm doing bbt to work out if I ovulate if I don't I'll be going to the doctors to see what I can do. Also started my diet yesterday so far so good :)

Will look into sw if I end up struggling to do it alone

CwtchyQ · 08/02/2016 13:35

rosebud did you decide to test on Valentines? I have resigned myself to being incredibly unsexy - "we NEED to have sex tonight, okay? Even if I'm tired - WE. NEED. TO. HAVE. SEX" lucky DH, eh!

Tryingtowait · 09/02/2016 05:37

Ok ladies not strictly ttc related. But one of my pcos symptoms is spots, I've been through so many anti biotics creams anti fungal anti bacterial steroids, and nothing seems to have cleared it up. They wanted to refer me to dermatology but I've kinda let it slide a bit because I know the meds they offer are strictly for people not ttc as they can harm baby
But since I've been tracking my cycles the past 2 months I've noticed it majorly flares up after my period so would that be from too much estrogen? If so without going on the pill or whatever any ideas on how to get rid of it? My face gets so sore and I have residents at my work (not very sensitively) asking what's wrong with my face people asking if I've been hit... So yeah they're kinda a big thing. When I was quite late on into my last pregnancy my face had flared up so much my dr gave me some cream and said it had said not to use if pregnant but my face was that bad to use it (I didn't). It's really getting me down today :(

Lucinda15 · 09/02/2016 06:25

Hello I've dropped off the thread recently Blush but I have been hovering and trying to follow, just no time to sit and have a chin wag. rosebud I am 33 yo. Not on any meds (yet). Only got PCOS diagnosis last month from an USS, had day 21 bloods last week and desperately trying to get appt with the super lovely GP who went thru my scan with me. I felt he was cooperative and helpful and willing to prescribe meds. But the surgery is struggling with short staff at the mo so it's a bit like mission impossible Confused I'm gonna hold out till I get him tho.

Adding to recent weight loss discussion, I am also on SW - have been on and off for a few years. It's a brilliant diet plan, has really helped me keep my weight under control. Having said that, I am a stone and a half heavier than I want to be, and thought the PCOS diagnosis wld spur me on but I'm REALLY struggling Sad just can't seem to find the motivation. Need a swift kick up the arse!!

RoseBud2016 · 09/02/2016 14:58

Cwtchy Pahaha! Yep sounds about right! Yes DH and I have decided that Valentines Day will be the day- I'll be the equivalent of 13dpo by then so I think that's long enough!

We got our freezing report through and I can't quite believe it but we have 5 embyros frozen and all 5 are of very high quality! It's more than we could have ever imagined. We feel so unbelievably grateful.

I now have a new found respect for the power of supplements (Inositol, CoQ10 ubquinol, Omega 3 fish oil and vitamin C) Brazil nuts (for selenium) and avocados (for unstaurated fats) I ate an avocado a day from CD1 to CD19 because I read that it triples IVF success rates.... I have no idea if any of it made a difference but I bloody HATE avocados now! Grin

For anyone needing to improve their DHs sperm quality, I put my DH on zinc, CoQ10 ubquinol, vitamin C, and vitamin D with calcium, and in little over 6 months his results have gone from 8 million per ml to 59 million per ml!!!!! The consultants were completely blown away that we had managed to cause such a huge difference! Read "It starts with the egg" by Rebecca Fett- it explains everything so well and gives amazing advice.
