Rosebud Wonderful, wonderful news!!!! So very happy for you and your DH/DP. What a great day to find out the brilliant news. Here's to a healthy, happy pregnancy. Well done you!!

Bananafish Thank you for the info, it's really helpful. Some months my period is fairly heavy, some months it's quite light. I do get high readings before peak (although some months just high, no peak - I don't ov those months) I guess i'm just looking in to everything. Feel like i'm going mad! My period was very painful yesterday, but it's fine today. Can't wait for it to piss off so I can start planning TTC this month.

CwtchyQ · 14/02/2016 13:41

trying go ahead and have a drink, you can't put your life on hold when TTC. You deserve it! Have a lovely day and try and put it to the back of your mind if possible

bananafish81 · 14/02/2016 17:19

Pebbles just to wish you lots of luck for your op. Xxx

FeeFeeLaFew · 14/02/2016 21:00

Pebbles, good luck with your operation! (Laparoscopy, is that right?) Go easy on yourself afterwards - make sure DP is there to look after you. And drink lots of water after the op.

FeeFeeLaFew · 14/02/2016 21:06

Bananafish, Rosebud, thanks for the friendly warning about cetrotide! I shall look forward to experiencing the stinging for myself tomorrow.

RoseBud2016 · 14/02/2016 21:15

Pebbles The best of luck for your op tomorrow. Take good care of yourself in the comings days xxx

Hello all, have been lurking on this thread for a few weeks wondering whether to post as a lot of you seem quite far on in the ttc journey and mines only just begun, but i thought, what the hell, I'm sure you will all have tons of helpful advice and you all seem friendly.

Stats
29 years old (DH 30, 31 next week)
TTC #1
Cycle #3

Diagnosed with pcos 5 years ago after a history of being on the pill since I was 16 for painful and very irregular periods. Came off the pill 5 years ago and was going up to 100+ day cycles and a big increase in weight.

Since that diagnosis, we have not been using any form of contraception whatsoever as we decided to not actively try but not to prevent either.
2 years ago, I decided enough was enough and I started slimming world to lose weight. I lost 4 stone and got my bmi just below 30, however over the past 6 months I've put on 1 1/2 stones, some I really need to get back on it!

Decided to actively start ttc in November. Cycles now vary between 28- 35 days, although last cycle was 44 (my step dad passed away just before Christmas and I think that affected it). I'm temping, using clear blue opk. My temperature seems to fluctuate a lot so difficult to identify when/if ovulation is happening.

My local fertility clinic offers a fertility health check which checks AMH, semen analysis, ovarian ultrasound and a consultation to discuss results etc. Wondering whether to have this done or not?

Anyway, sorry for the essay! Congratulations to Rosebud and Bananafish and fx for Stealth

stealthbanana · 14/02/2016 21:56

Good luck pebbles! Take care of yourself.

Another very heartfelt congratulations to rosebud - I am just so absolutely thrilled for you.

Welcome pugmummy - if you've been off contraception for 2 years with no results (assuming you're having fairly regular sex) then yes I would do all the tests. The one you really need though is the day 21 progesterone test to see if you've ovulated (it should be done 7 days before the likely date of your period - so if you've long cycles it will be done after day 21). Knowledge is power!

AFM, still cramping but no more blood - so really just the tiniest of smears this morning. I've just got home and done a IC which is a snow white bfn so I think it's just the start of yet another bizarro AF. Will do a proper frer in the morning but I think it's all over bar the shouting. Feel a bit sad but onto the next round.

Orangesarenot · 14/02/2016 22:34

Yayyy Rosebud! That's such lovely news. Please do stay around as the thread mum, we'd be lost without you. You and Banana need to both stick around!

Stealth I'm so sorry to hear that. Will you stay with the same drug?

Pebbles good luck, I hope it all goes well.

Tryingtowait I broke my own rule this weekend - tempted by my friend's lovely coffee and milk frothing machine, I had two lattes and one hot chocolate with normal cow's milk yesterday. I now have two spots starting to erupt on my cheek (weirdly, one of the places I get hormonal spots). So annoyed with myself!

Pug I agree with Stealth, and I think you should be able to get cd21 tests and sperm analysis on the NHS without too much hassle - just go ready to argue with your GP!

Wave to everyone else, I'm on a phone so can't scroll.

Massive thanks to everyone for your advice and support - you gave me confidence to argue with the clinic doctor, who agreed that I should go straight onto 150mg clomid in this fourth round, starting at the end of this week. They won't scan me now, but they have made me a consultant's appointment at the end of the fourth round, so I can take all of Stealth's and Banana's my carefully prepped arguments in to ask for a scan. Fingers crossed!

Dunlin1987 · 15/02/2016 08:05

That's brilliant oranges fingers crossed that this is the right dosage for you :) I need to pick up my prescription in the next couple of days then I can join you.

chandelierswinging · 15/02/2016 08:26

Stealth Flowers V frustrating. Allow yourself the shouting if you need it.

Pebbles Good luck today!

Oranges Bring on the next round eh?

Welcome Pug. Hope you start to get some answers soon.

RoseBud2016 · 15/02/2016 09:19

Pugmummy Welcome! Well done on losing so much weight before! There are a few ladies on here that are doing WW and low GI diets to lose weight with great success so I'm sure you'll be able to join some of them in that quest.
Have you been to your GP since TTC at all? I know you've said you've only actively been ttc since Nov but since you haven't been using contraception for 5 years I would imagine your GP would refer you to a fertility clinic through the NHS now, particularly considering your definite PCOS diagnosis. I got referred to a fertility clinic after only 4 months ttc because of an 8 week waiting list (making it 6 months by the time I got an appointment) and the fact I already had a PCOS diagnosis. The guidelines allow GPS to do this so this is worth a try.
Once you are referred, the GP should then get the ball rolling with bloods, SA etc. You might have to push hard for them to do it so go prepared for a bit of a fight- but remember you are entitled to be referred; if not now then definitely in 2 months! x

Stealth How are you doing this morning my lovely? xxx

Oranges!!! Well done for pushing hard and not accepting no for an answer! I knew they would see sense eventually! Now you just need to take the same approach with the no-scanning nonsense. My lining didn't go above 4mm on 150mg clomid. They NEED to monitor your lining and prescribe meds to combat a thin lining if this is an issue for you. So happy you are going straight to 150mg! Woop!

Tryingtowait · 15/02/2016 09:55

Welcome pugs I only joined a week or 2 ago and everyone is lovely :) I can't offer much advice on the medical side of things as I got diognosed 10 years ago and wasn't ttc then until the past couple of months. But these ladies seem to know everything between them Grin

oranges I would have been tempted too I'm on decaf ATM to try and curb my addiction. Well done on the clomid. My face has died down a bit Thank goodness.

AFM I enjoyed my wine last night and had a lovely valentines. Because my temps spiked for 3 days ff Ismail saying I could have o'ed between cd7-11 but they can't pinpoint exactly and I'm only cd12 now. But I only had watery cm (tmi) yesterday at 11 so I'm holding out for a few days continuing to dtd eod and hoping it wasn't cd 7 as I hadn't dtd until cd 8 if it's 11 it would be ok. I don't know it was only my temps indicating it... So it's back to waiting and seeing. I'm not the most patient person

CwtchyQ · 15/02/2016 09:59

stealth been thinking of you, how are you getting on?

Shellbell0403 · 15/02/2016 10:04

Hi!!

Wondering if it would be OK to join this thread again? I was on this group awhile ago and had to stop coming on for abit as everything all got abit to much!! Thought I had got over it but all the stress has came back and wondering if I can join again so that I have a group of amazing women to talk too 😊

Sorry I went AWOL for awhile and hope I can come back 😘
Xx

stealthbanana · 15/02/2016 10:18

oranges well done! Now as rose says you need to push them on a scan. It is ridiculous that you can be on 150mg and be unmonitored - you'll go through the cycle and not have all the information from it to inform what you do next. Go into battle!

rose, chandelier, ponty and others - thank you for your lovely messages. As predicted i had a big fat negative this morning. On the plus side AF still hasn't shown up, had another few drops of brown blood when I woke up this morning but nothing since. So that makes me feel a bit better about my LP.

Walked to the doctor this morning to pick up another pen of gonal f and it was a gorgeous walk through the park in the sun and cold so feeling pretty chilled about it all again - funny how you just have to let the emotion wash over you and then it goes away I sound like a hippy. Anyway, we'll give it another go as soon as AF turns up in the next couple days...let's see what happens. So am currently loading the inject pen into a cool bag as am about to the airport to go to the States. I have some well travelled medication!

shellbell welcome back. Of course you can come and go as you please!

Shellbell0403 · 15/02/2016 10:26

Thanks huni! Defo need the support the now.. All got to much! PCO is a bitch! Haha...

Hope your well? Xx

Dunlin1987 · 15/02/2016 10:51

Where are you all from? I am from East Yorkshire- Hull. Just one question I never thought to ask...

Shellbell0403 · 15/02/2016 11:02

I'm from Lanarkshire, Scotland 😘 Xx

RoseBud2016 · 15/02/2016 12:52

Shell Welcome back! Of course you can come back Was looking at the stats sheet the other day and thinking about you and a few others we hadn't heard from in a while. What are you up to meds wise now? X

Stealth sorry to hear that but glad to see you're already thinking about the next cycle- that's the best thing to do X

Dunlin I'm from Hampshire Smile

Shellbell0403 · 15/02/2016 13:02

Thanks rosebud!! Well eventually I got down to the weight I had to be 😁 I am now on Letrozole 2.5mg... Just finished first cycle and it's not worked so next cycle I have to up to 5mg...

Is there some good news from you?? Not had a chance to look through all the threads yet xx

bananafish81 · 15/02/2016 13:10

Hi to newbies and oldbies (welcome back Shell!)

Great to hear you've got the letrozole - seems like a great alternative to Clomid that doesn't thin the lining, everything crossed it works its magic

Big hugs stealth - I dunno about the hippy, I think it sounds like a bloody great attitude! Safe flight to you and your Gonal-F

oranges brilliant news! Keep at em, unfortunately it is the case that you usually have to be pushy. All sounds most promising!

Hope you and your new budding flower are doing well Rosebud

On the geography front, I'm a Mancunian by birth but live in London Smile

Devgal · 15/02/2016 13:13

Hi everyone. I hope you don't mind me joining in here.
I stopped taking my pill in Oct '14 with the idea that we would wait until my AF got back to normal. By July '15 realized my AF was not getting back to normal, so after bloods and an US, I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was immediately prescribed with 1000mg of Metformin and since then my AF has gone from around 76 days and my last 2 cycles have been 32 and 40 days. I also think I have been ovulating (although not doing OPK) but we have decided after my next AF we will start trying. I think I may start charting even just for 1 cycle to see if I can confirm OV. So that's my story! It will be great to keep in touch with you and lovely to see that some of you have had some good news lately! Anyone got any Metformin success stories?

Shellbell0403 · 15/02/2016 13:15

Thanks bananafish!! First month didn't work as lining was to thin etc! Hopefully next cycle works abit better!! How is things with you?

Ahh rosebud!!! Congrats!!! So pleased for you!!

bananafish81 · 15/02/2016 13:25

Ah sorry about your lining shell - are you having follicle tracking scans? I've had persistent thin lining issues and they can give you some HRT (oestrogen tablets) to thicken it up but can't be given too early as it will block ovulation. Hope the letrozole does the trick!

I'm currently taking HRT three times daily because of my thin lining: I had my second IVF cycle in Jan (first cycle had to freeze all due to crap lining) and it was touch and go whether my lining would thicken up enough to be able to have embryo transfer or not. Thankfully the oestrogen worked its magic, I had an embryo transferred and got a BFP just over two weeks ago. Still taking the oestrogen and hope it and the progesterone pessaries are keeping the lining nice and snuggly! Xx
