Christmas baby?

Hello all. Does anyone worry about getting pregnant March/April as its likely a Christmas baby may occur? My niece is a Xmas day baby and hates it! DH and I are both summer so lucky Smile

When you struggle to get pregnant the month of birth is irrelevant tbh

True chatty. We wont stop ttc. Weve been trying since October which I know is not long but im getting a bit fed up of people telling me they just looked at a cock and got pregnantEnvy

What a stupid question. Be prepared for a flaming. DS was an unexpected surprise (not actively TTC aged 37) and was due on the 19th. Turned up on the 27th. It shouldn't matter what day babies arrive.

Yes that is truly annoying and when people tell you to relax etc. Took us 2 years and I was just so happy to get my first BFP... baby was born in early January so not "ideal" but she will just have to deal with it as she was so much wanted!!

No, I don't worry. I have to have IVF to be in with a chance of getting pregnant so I honestly do not care what time of year it possibly happens. I would feel blessed if it ever happens.

Yes I thought about it so relaxed a bit and stopped worrying, obsessing and didn't try to DTD quite as much that month.

Of course I fell pregnant and due date was Xmas Eve! I actually felt like I had used Sod's law in my favour as I was so desperate to be pregnant! DD was born just before Xmas and now her birthday just adds to the excitement of the festive season.

I know people who have stopped ttc as they don't want Christmas babies. My DS was born 2nd Jan, I'm not bothered but I intend to train people in to separate Xmas and birthday presents!

I had this exact thought last year and as with Pp that was my month. I did worry about Christmas birthday (was obviously still thrilled to be pregnant, but also aware that my baby will one day be a child who will want to enjoy Christmas and birthday) however obviously there are more important factors. My due date was before Christmas and my baby arrived slightly early anyway.

In short I think it natural to think about it, the same way you will if you get a BFP which month will give your baby a summer birthday or a birthday near yours /your partners/siblings.

We didn't try the months for a "Christmas baby" as I work with 4 people with December birthdays and every year they say how much they hate it.

I personally don't think it's silly to consider your future child's feelings when trying to conceive (the same way I wouldn't give them an out there name).

And yes I have some understanding of trying to get pg after mc, dd, mc, dd.

Obviously it's different if it's an accident but I wouldn't have planned it.

I have a christmas day born child. We certainly didn't even think about when the birthday would be when we were ttc. Just happy to have them here nice and safe. On the plus side having a salvation army band playing in the delivery suite reception whilst in labour was an interesting experience!! And we got gifts when we went to the ward after delivery - a crocheted blanket and some choccies. We pop a candle in the xmas pud but do a proper bday "day" on the weekend before xmas so we can do a party with school friends. Child likes sharing their bday with Baby Jesus at the mo!!

I don't think this is a stupid question. I have 3 people in my family with birthdays very close to Christmas and they hate it. But I also know someone whose birthday is on Valentine's Day and she hates that too!
It wouldn't stop me TTC because I have fertility issues.
Also, having a due date in Jan, Feb or March doesn't stop you having a Christmas baby because the baby could be born prematurely.

Not a stupid question. My brothers were born 27th and 29th Dec and I'm 12th Jan. I hate having a January birthday and my brothers hate theirs. DS1 was born in the summer, same day as DH!! So I would actively try and avoid potential sibling sharing same birthday as me!

A lot of people feel this way. I actively tried to have a Christmas baby... (Literally couldn't have got further away with the 25th June though!! Hmm)

My DH and I both have December birthdays and we love it!

Not a stupid question at all! I'd have hated to have had a Christmas baby/January baby. I think it would only be magical when it was born. The following years would just be a pain.

I have two dds with birthdays near Christmas. It's not ideal but I'm just delighted to have them :)

I stopped trying in March with my dd for this reason. As it turns out her 2nd bday well be on Easter Sunday instead!

I'm a Xmas baby - I love and hate it for the same reason (people tend to forget)

Wouldn't stop me in the slightest having a Xmas baby myself. :)

My birthday is 6 days before Christmas and I love it.

That said I wouldn't really want it any closer or just after.

When it comes to us and ttc I hadn't really thought about it too much but think we will continue as conceiving and having a happy healthy baby is more important than when it's birthday is.

I can see why others might pause for a month or two. Personal choice isn't it?

I was born Jan 2nd and I hate it. I don't think it's a stupid question although I could see why it might appear as insensitive to those who have fertility issues.

I think it's personal choice at the end of the day and I'm sure that most people even if they did try and avoid a Xmas baby, if they were struggling to conceive, they probably wouldn't care anymore and carry on regardless.

Personally, as much as I hate my birthday, I will still carry on ttc as the desire to have a child is more important than the birthday. Plus knowing how crap my birthday is, I would make every effort to ensure my child never felt like I do.

Like Pixa I'm having fertility treatment and worry that I'll never have children at all. Perhaps if you're fertile, or think you are, you may worry about this, but I don't have that luxury.
