Hello all. Does anyone worry about getting pregnant March/April as its likely a Christmas baby may occur? My niece is a Xmas day baby and hates it! DH and I are both summer so lucky Smile

I have thought about it, not that it would stop me TTC but I do think it is something to consider - for me it's more of a practical thing. We are lucky to have one DS already (4yo) who is a late November baby. We are by no means an extravagant family - but we find the cost of a birthday/party shortly followed by Christmas really takes some careful budgeting and saving and planning, months ahead. We have been TTC #2 for a year now and had 2 mc's along the way, and now looks like I have PSOS. So we understand how some people wouldn't consider birth month any reason to delay TTC, especially if you have problems TTC or have Had losses. The most important thing is a happy healthy baby. I think we all want that.

And we won't delay TTC, we will be thrilled to conceive and have a baby whatever the month. but we have both given each other a look and know we have to brace ourselves if we fall pregnant in the next couple of months.

But bring it on I say Grin

Last year I fell pregnant, wasn't trying and was very much a surprise, was due 14th December. Ds arrived on the 26th. i now have no sympathy for anyone who complains of a December birthday. He could have come in November, at 37 weeks, I was more then happy to have him then, but nope he held on in there. His own fault for having a birthday so close to Christmas Wink
Though I do recall lying on that hospital bed at 23.45 on the 25th screaming "I'm not having this baby before midnight" (he was born 00.37am on the 26th). Anyway my point is if it happens it happens there's not a lot can be done. You could be due in Feb but have a premature baby. life doesn't end just because you have a Christmas baby (btw 2 of my other children are 10th and 17th Jan and the other in Feb so winter babies is just what I do)

I have a ds who was born 5 days before Christmas. It is a bit shit tbh but he's going to have to embrace it Smile

I've just had a tube removed after an ectopic pregnancy...I will be waiting a while to recover before ttc again so the decision will be made for me this time.

I don't think it's a stupid question - there are fewer doctors and midwives working on Christmas day & boxing day so God forbid if something went wrong a lady might not be able to get help quite as quickly.

Not a stupid question at all.

I'm a teacher and so initially thought carefully about best due date for Mat leave, not summer baby etc. It never occurred to me to avoid a Christmas baby (although I do have a friend who hates her Christmas birthday) but same sort of thing. Now though, after 18 months of ttc, I couldn't care less when my due date is as long as I get one!

I did consider not ttc the month that would have meant I would be have a due date of my sister's wedding but in the end I did continue as I would have (totally irrationally) always thought that might have been the month.
