Fuzzy, this is interesting. Did the acupuncturist tell your core body temp was too cold by looking at your charts or another way? How long did the herbs take to work last time you took them? x

FuzzyOwl · 15/02/2016 19:18

Yes sunshine I did bbt for a few months and she then looked at my charts. I am generally a very cold person but it was still surprising to know it could affect fertility. The first cycle I took the herbs, I got pregnant but miscarried. The next cycle I forgot when to take them and started too early (on cd1 not cd8) and I didn't have enough for the entire cycle (only the first eight days according to my app) and it brought on an early lh surge where I didn't ovulate and so put back my actual ovulation by a week (so it ended up being a really long cycle). The following month I took them properly and got pregnant again but I also DTD loads, as well as taking pregnacare conceive and EPO.

I honestly don't know if it was a coincidence or not. X

I really feel the cold too so i wonder if this will be mentioned at my appt with acupuncturist, although I hadn't noticed on my BBT charts that the temps were low compared to others, think I'll have to take another look x

FuzzyOwl · 15/02/2016 19:26

I don't have my charts now to compare but my temperature was consistently in the 36C range. X

Arrgghhh!! So my oldest friend has just text to tell me shes pregnant, she doesnt know how far on she is as was on the pill. I want to be happy for her but she has only been with this guy since November, and she already has a daughter who her parents pretty much bring up not to mention her unhealthy lifestyle. How is this fair. Sad Sad Sad

Friendlycav · 16/02/2016 14:02

It's so unfair isn't it.

Thinking of you Oriana hope we will hear from you again soon.

I met with my herbalist yesterday and think she very much prescribes the herbs based on a thorough consultation with me. She asked loads of questions about my health, family history etc and took my pulse, looked at my tongue etc. Still don't know if the herbs are doing anything but trying to stay positive. She highlighted again that she thought my luteal phase was too short to sustain a pregnancy and that I should use progesterone cream after ovulation but I wonder if the cream will be strong enough.

I used to be a coffee addict but have completely cut it out and hardly drink any alcohol. Life when ttc is boring!

My private consultant appointment is on Thursday, I really can't wait to finally get some answers and an action plan. My DH took his SA to the clinic today and he gets the results in 7 days so thankfully not too long to wait but convinced the problem is with me.

sunshinegirl12 · 16/02/2016 15:17

I just don't know how I'm going to face her now. Sad I feel so stressed right now what with the possible redundancy and now this.

Friendly, how long is your usual luteal phase?

Friendlycav · 16/02/2016 15:48

Hang in there Sunshine but I know how hard it is. My luteal phase is never more than 9 days so think this is a problem. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I have the same luck as mascara and mrsmugoo and get progesterone suppositories and then my BFP soon after, fx!

I'm assuming progesterone suppositories are stronger than the cream, does anyone know?

Could you confide in her sunshine or would she not get it? I know telling my close friend was a massive relief. Id hate to think that I didn't know my friend was going through such a tough time now I've experienced it.

Depends what the dosage is friendlycav, I was on 400mg of cyclogest morning and night so quite high, took it a few days after ovulation. Think Mrs was the same...

FuzzyOwl · 16/02/2016 16:31

Oh sunshine Flowers I nearly lost a long term friend over her pregnancy that happened at the same time as my miscarriage. I found it easier to avoid her for the best part of a year but now I have a child things have been a bit more on track.

I agree, as much as it perhaps subconsciously puts on extra pressure having people know you are trying.. I've confided to a couple of friends and they have been really supportive and I don't regret telling them. They know only to bring it up if I want to talk about it!

Thanks mascara it's useful to know what dose worked for you. Not sure about the cream but don't think it's as strong as that.

Friendlycav · 16/02/2016 16:36

fuzzy that sounds really hard, don't know how I'd deal with that Flowers

Sunshine sorry to hear you're feeling down. I reckon it'll happen for us du shines together!

Fuzzy if your temps are low then mine definitely areM I'm usually in the high 35C range before ovulation and low 36C range after.

Mrsunsure do you hav wet CF or a wet feeling down there? If so I'd keep DTD as you could still be fertile.

Got my blood test results back today. Saw a different GP this time and he said everything was fine except my progesterone levels which were 20 and he said they look for over 30 so he's referring me to a gynaecologist I now need to wait for a letter in the post which could take up to three months to come. It's a long old process but at least I'm making progress.

Sunshinegirl2015 · 16/02/2016 17:27

Sunshines not du shines!

sunshinegirl12 · 16/02/2016 17:50

Thanks for your replies girls, I could never tell her as she just wouldn't get it, as much as I love her I don't agree with a lot of her lifestyle choices and I do wonder if it genuinely was an accident (but thats a whole other story.) She asked to meet for coffee tonight but have made excuses so I can compose myself.

Sunshine, I was wondering how you were getting on. Atleast you are moving forward with it.

Mrsunsure, I would just keep on DTD, it is likely that your body was gearing up to ovulate but then didnt for some reason and is ready to try again.

I've been reading about how magnesium deficiency is linked to infertility natural-fertility-info.com/importance-of-magnesium.html I might give the epsom salt baths a go, and if it doesn't help with fertility atleast it can help with stress x

mascaraisamust · 16/02/2016 18:30

Dtd Mrs!! Mine was a random early ovulation. I'm a week ahead of myself!

Ah no sunshine12, such a shame you can't chat to her.x

Sunshinegirl2015, so pleased you got a referral! They told me three months and it was with me pretty quickly, depends on demand I suppose at the time. Fingers crossed you get your letter soon x

I really hope she is ok too.

It's awful isn't it, I have spent most of this evening torn between crying my eyes out then pulling myself together before crying again, poor DH must think I've finally lost it.

Well apparently 'magnesium deficiency can also contribute to spasms in the fallopian tubes, making it more difficult for an embryo to travel safely to the uterus for implantation. You may not even be aware these spasms are happening, but if they are strong enough to inhibit the typical path to conception, your fertility is likely suffering as a result.' I do tend to get alot of cramps all through my luteal phase so just thought this could help. There is also apparently links between stress and magnesium levels which in turn affects fertility. It's probably a long shot but I'm prepared to give anything a go right now. My appt is next weds and acupuncture on thurs, hopefully someone will help me. Confused

mrsmugoo · 16/02/2016 21:21

Friendlycav - I imagine the progesterone pessaries on prescription are much stronger than the cream. I was on 2 x 400mg a day.

What strength is the cream and where do you put it?!

Friendlycav · 16/02/2016 21:42

Thanks mrsmugoo I think you're right. Just checked progesterone cream tube and there is nothing on there about strength so guessing it isn't very strong.. It says to put a dime-size dollop onto your skin twice daily and to try putting it on arms, wrists, thighs and tummy. As much as I don't like the thought of suppositories, I'm so encouraged by the success you and mascara have had x

mrsmugoo · 16/02/2016 21:48

If you don't like the thought of suppositories then maybe pregnancy and childbirth isn't for you?! Nothing about pregnancy is glamorous and you'll have a lot more to worry about than a little pellet up your foof I can tell you lol!

My doctor told me that even on 800mg of progesterone pessaries a day, that is actually a drop in the ocean compared to the amount of the hormone your own body is producing by itself - so I imagine any cream you buy without a prescription would be more or less pointless.
