hi staceyk - I am sure you will get some advice here, I can't really help as I don't have any experience at all of what you are going through... but lots of good thoughts in your direction

MoseGirl · 30/05/2004 21:18

Chacha you can add me too

CD11

Lisch · 30/05/2004 23:57

Hi, I'm another lurker introducing myself. It's great to find this thread and other women going through the same thing - ttc has been one of the loneliest things I've ever done. I have a rather complicated ttc story stretching back some years (one day I may bore you with it!) but basically this time round I've been ttc for five months. I'm getting rather old for this game and I'm very scared it will never work out for me. My heart goes out to all the women on this thread who are finding it tough.

miranda2 · 31/05/2004 01:13

bluestar -my ds is 3 in July. I wanted to wait until he'd be in school when i finished maternity leave, so I only have to pay one lot of nursery fees... Plus I had bad pnd last time, and only recently have been able to face ttc again - a bit worried I'll get it again, but apparently the health authority round here are good at monitoring you through the preg the second time.
Can I ask about the abbreviations?! Call me thick if you like... I've worked out AF must mean period, but why??? And what is CD?

misdee · 31/05/2004 01:16

Cha Cha, AF started yesterday afternoon (monday). so guess that CD2?

gold123 · 31/05/2004 12:54

Hi miranda2 - AF short for Aunt Flo (period), CD is cycle day, DPO is days past ovulation, CM is cervical mucus.

Actually there is one, I want to know BFP and BPN, I realise that the P and N is positive and negative, but what is the BF ?

I am on CD16, and all those positive feelings I had at the beginning of the month have now faded ! we only managed to BD on CD9, 11 and 14.

I am starting to really resent my body at the moment, for the last few months I have been super sensitive to all that is going on. I know I'm near to ovulation because I become ratty and very tired and also very spotty !!!, I will feel sick and dizzy next week no doubt, which makes it difficult because all of these symptons to me can be mislead as PG - best not to think about it and hide myself in a cupboard for the next 14 days !

Welcome and good luck Lisch. Well, I'm on CD 9 and my Persona showed the OV symbol today. My last three cycles have been around 28 days, so this is a good 5 days earlier than I would expect ovulation. The blue lines were very blurred - I couldn't make out if there were one or two there - possibly because my aim was not very good this morning when I tested at 4.30am in the dark. I'll be annoyed if ovulation is early this month, as I was planning to do step up the BDing and I will have already missed a few days. Also I was out drinking with a friend last night (not that I can take much these days, around 1/2 bottle of wine). Oh well, DH will be pleased tonight.

Twiglett?!?!?

CD25 (dpo13)
Feel AF cramping! What more can a girl do? I find out that i ovulate, i go home, BD, BD'd the night before by chance, and BD'd the next day!!! What more can i do?!?

How long can i do this for!!!!!!!

OP posts:
futurity · 31/05/2004 15:26

I'm not on the 2ww yet as I haven't ovulated...looks like it will be tomorrow (CD 18)

smellymelly · 31/05/2004 15:39

Twiglett was explaining that -

BFP means Big Fat Positive, and

BFN means Big Fat Negative

(for pregnancy testing that is!)

smellymelly · 31/05/2004 15:40

Cha Cha - are you going to test?? I had cramps too, but it wasn't AF....

alterego · 31/05/2004 17:20

chacha - I'm on CD6. Going to buy Persona this week as I figure it might save me some money in the long run

Azure · 31/05/2004 17:31

Alterego, I'm a Persona user and (sadly) it has probably saved me money, although I did conceive the first month of using it (then going on to m/c). I think it can only be programmed the first 5 days of a cycle, as the first test (pissy stick) is on day 6 and all testing is with the first pee of the day. Programming is done at around the time you will be testing each day (i.e. first thing, although there is a 3 hour leeway either side). If AF arrives after this timeframe, e.g. in the afternoon or evening, then the next day is counted as day 1. Unfortunately you may just be too late to use it this cycle.

ChaCha · 31/05/2004 17:39

Hi Smelly, how u doin?

No, definitely not going to test. I just cannot take the BFN every cycle
Cramps feel like AF is just around the corner, will just have to wait and see

OP posts:
bluestar · 31/05/2004 18:14

ChaCha, hope you are ok, these days of the cycle are the hardest aren't they, so close but... I know how you feel though, what more can you do apart from bd at the right time.

I'm actually not in the 2ww yet either. Temp dropped yesterday and altho v.tired, managed a quick bd last night and today temp has risen again. Let's hope this is it this time. Feel tired, grumpy and achy so not really in the mood for many more sessions this week.

Welcome Lisch

2ticks · 31/05/2004 19:05

Another lurker here to be added to the list!! I'm 35 and have a DS who turned 2 at the beginning of May. We have decided to start ttc this month and I am currently on CD3. I was really lucky with DS1 and conceived first month of trying using an OPK - can't imagine I will be so lucky this time round - will keep you posted.

Good luck everybody!

malinki · 31/05/2004 19:23

What does CD mean, I get the jist of the rest but CD, does this stand for Cycle something.

malinki · 31/05/2004 19:25

I'm not really this thick, but hey ho

gold123 · 31/05/2004 19:41

Malinki CD is cycle day - No your not thick, took me a while too.

Welcome 2ticks

2ticks · 31/05/2004 19:41

CD means Cycle Day - so first day of AF is CD1

I think this is right!

2ticks · 31/05/2004 19:42

Must learn to type faster - posts crossed!

ChaCha · 31/05/2004 21:18
