Leonine I'm prob answering my own question by answering yours...I think it's best to wait till day of your period or day after.....with my dd I was a cycle of 32 days and tested in the evening of day 33 and got a reliable bfp.

My prob now is my cycle nearly changes every month so I never know for sure when I'm due!!

Guys, I'm an advocate of waiting! but if you must test, then do a frer (first response or an superdrug early indicator) as both of those have iu sensetivity of 10-15 iu.

If money was no object then I'd do frers every day, but I think I'd personally rather wait on af arriving/not arriving and then test, rather than be disappointed with bfn's and THEN come on.

I bought a crazy amount of opks on line. Now need to figure out how to test, because apparently best time is 2ish pm, but I will be at work, and they take 10 minutes to develop.

Any ideas? Is this why some of you ladies have been collecting your pee?

Think I'm 1DPO today. I got my +opk & ovulated in the same day, as I've got a - opk today. So hopefully temps will keep going up & I can start pissing on sticks from 10DPO (I promise I will not poas from 7dpo like last month!)

I've said it before but, "my name is Starky and I'm a specimen hoarder!" Basically, in our house the toilet is separate to the bathroom, so you can't pretend to be having a shower or cleaning your teeth while dipping okp's/pg tests. It's an in and out job! And quite often my dsis is staying over, and she doesn't know we are ttc, and I want to make sure I'm getting accurate tests, and crackling test packets and sitting in the loo with a flat test aren't conducive to being secretive. So I wee in a pot (which has a lid!) And save it in the wardrobe in our spare room until I've got some peace and quiet, which is usually the space between dsis going to the horse and Dh waking up and wanting a coffee! As soon as I've dipped and seen the saturation happening I dispose of the wee, wash the pot out and pop it back in the hiding place!

I do okp's first thing, then mid afternoon and one in the evening during my fw. If you're at work though. ..Hmmm, ill have a think for you.

Yup I've totally used opks wrong was just doing it once a day generally about 6ish and didn't get a single pos! I bought 90 off amazon so will at leas try using them twice a day next month....and not chuck them out after 2 mins either! Doh!

Superdrug will be getting visited on Thursday....the prob is when I know I have them I will wanna use them...no will power at all if I have them in the house.....maybe should just hold off to wknd to actually buy them!

I don't know if this is helpful but I tested early (no willpower) and got a faint line on a FRER but absolutely nothing on the Amazon strips (which are meant to have the same sensitivity) until two days later. FRER picked it up v early (9DPO) and then I retested with Clearblue 4 days before AF due (DPO 12) and it came up with pregnant. FRER definitely worth it if you can shut out pain of the cost!

On the cheapies, FMU only really works.

Not sure testing early changed anything. I have still held my breath in case AF appeared and I wouldn't have done anything different last week had I not tested and not known!

I have the ic from Amazon to satisfy my curiosity and hopefully that will do until I actually do get a late period. I have never had any actual real indication that I have been pregnant though so no need to get a FRER. I can't see the point in POAFRER early and then AF comes in 3 or 4 days like it's supposed to...

It's so difficult I'm just really impatient but your right testing early isn't really going to make a difference! Just need to hold out to the wknd, af will prob show up beforehand which is what generally happens so least saves me some cash!! Lol!

In terms of when to test my clinic always says day 16 after dtd aka iui... This cycle that means I will actually test before af due as my follicles were stimulated so everything a bit faster than usual. I will prob test on sat and sun b4 allowed testing day of monday - when I will use a FRER. I did no opks this cycle and am missing testing!

runner I tried that I initially, but dsis needed the toilet and then Dh also woke up and wanted a wee so there was a queue! They stood having a conversation outside the toilet door so I had to cough a lot and speedily and silently try to dispose of my poas pot, the test and the wrapper! I didn't hAve any pockets, the pressure was immense! Our loo felt like a ampitheatre for noise that day!

ally I know what you mean, it's so tempting to test, I've been having to wake up and immediately go for a wee and flush so I don't start pondering whether to test, I've found once I've got that out of the way I'm momentarily annoyed at myself, but quite quickly move on from it! The longer you can wait the easier it gets I think. Because the closer I've got to af day, the more I've been certain I'm going to come on, so I've mentally prepared myself for every time I go for a wee to expect blood.

Yeah starky I know exactly what ya mean. With my first when I got to six months I was testing so much it was ridiculous I then just stopped buying tests until I finally fell preg! Did similar this time, after a few months I started testing all the time then we took a break as booked a holiday and now went back to ttc in October, trying to stay away from preg tests but I can feel myself being tempted back to the dark side lol!

Think just makes u more upset seeing that bfn that just getting af. I just need to try and be prepared for af then I won't be too upset....some months are easier than others when it comes to the emotional side of ttc

I think with me, if I was constantly testing and getting bfn's I'd always be thinking "oh, it's probably too early" or wondering if every evap was a squinter, I know what I'm like, I'd have been obsessing over them daily, whereas, if I don't test at all, at least I'm not unecessarily getting my hopes up for it all to end in af.

On a side note, marks and Spencer chocolate covered pretzels are AMAZING! I can fully recommend them!

You're definitely all right about it not making any difference. Actually, Bubbles in particular really resonated with me - even getting a positive before AF doesn't mean I/we wouldn't still be worried about AF arriving until the regular time for it has passed. So it's just costing more money to get an early response that won't even take all the stress away given no one seems to fully trust a positive result until AF stays away.

Yeah that's how I always felt, oh I will test tomorrow even tho it would be 3-4 days before my af was due! Just need to wait till it's due or I'm late, saves on the stress and upset for def!

Did you do an okp choc ? What the heck! That's very odd! If yes to okp, they can apparently show a positive for pregnancy, I think it was shelb who had a positive okp a couple of days before her bfp.

Can I just say, I've only just realised, but every time I've been typing it opk, my autocorrect has been changing it to opk! God only know what an okp is!
