Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

Cateroo I was scared too, but it wore off after a few days and now I'm slightly obsessedHmm

AliceScarlett · 30/01/2016 11:29

DH was really sad thia morning that AF had arrived! Bless him. He proudly announced he was going to take his vitamins everyday and "just you wait til that FW comes round" he he, glad he's more on board. Always takes him a while to get used to things. Softly softly catchy monkey with him.

I'm very bored of AF, she's making me Very Angry. So I bought malt loaf and butter.

stumblymonkey · 30/01/2016 11:35

OMG Alice....I am obsessed with malt loaf at the moment!!!

I got through an entire packet in a couple of days last week ConfusedBlush

I just can't wait for AF to be over to crack on with DTD.

I'm going to have to think of some serious strategies to keep myself relaxed during the 2WW though. I was slightly crazy this time even though I knew it was unlikely to be BFP as we'd only DTD once during FW so god only knows what I'll be like this time if I don't reign myself in!

Beardsrock I have been having green tea in work but one normal cup of tea with my brekkie. At home I wasn't drinking the green tea and just having normal so I bought decaf tea and am having that in the evenings and at weekends. It's hard to cut out alright! I find the decaf is ok tho...at first you're defo aware there's 'something' missing but you get used to it. The greater goood 😂😂

Pointlessfan · 30/01/2016 12:29

Advice when pregnant is 2 cups of tea or coffee a day. The tannins stop the baby from absorbing iron I think.

mangocoveredlamb · 30/01/2016 21:30

When I was pregnant with DD I discovered that green tea has caffeine in it. About half of normal tea, I was totally gutted. I'm not going to worry about the caffeine until I get a BFP, DD still isn't a great sleeper so I need all the caffeine I can get!!

Cateroo · 30/01/2016 21:47

I'm a tea fiend - I've also buckled and bought ovulation sticks. I wasn't going to start doing that, but I've changed my mind!

stumblymonkey · 30/01/2016 22:15

I'm a tea fiend too. I'll cut down to two cups once I get a BFP. I think I'll find it much harder than giving up booze to be honest Confused

Anyone ever tried decaf tea? My heart just tells me that such a thing is wrong...

Decaf tea? Hethens. Don't do it to yourself, no one deserves thatFlowers

thisisbloodyridiculous · 30/01/2016 22:18

I'm a herbal tea junkie - I drink lots of different kinds but my staple is peppermint - about 12 cups a day Blush it started when I moved away from caffeine and green tea..

RaeSkywalker · 30/01/2016 22:25

Hi all, is it too late to join? We're thinking we'll start ttc next month. I'm taking my vitamins, I don't drink tea or coffee, barely drink alcohol and I exercise about 7 hours a week.. I'm not sure if I should reduce the amount/ intensity of the exercise?!

stumblymonkey · 30/01/2016 22:33

Hi Rae

Wow...you sound super-healthy!

What sort of exercise are you doing?

I do three hours of strength training a week and have researched it and will continue through pregnancy. I will just need to do some modifications; no exercises lying flat on back, nothing where there's a chance of falling, no abdominal exercises.

Hi stumbly I'm doing body pump for 2 hours a week (weight class), then 5 hours of spin. I usually do a 30 minute run 5 days a week too but I've injured my knee so I can't at the moment. I'm not super healthy really, just trying to counteract the effects of a desk job and a liking for cake. Plus I find my mood really suffers if I don't exercise. Interesting about nothing lying flat on your back- I will have to modify what I do in body pump.

Main reason for ttc next month is I've got a hospital appointment to see if I have Reynaud's syndrome on the 16th- if it's not Reynaud's then it might be a thyroid issue, so we've decided to hold off until we know what we're dealing with.

Cateroo · 30/01/2016 22:52

I can't do two cups a day. I could stop drinking alcohol in a heart beat, but teeeeeeea Confused

Pointlessfan · 31/01/2016 07:22

I'm a tea addict too, tried decaf tea when pregnant, it's horrible! Also they use nasty chemicals to remove the caffeine so I'm not convinced it's any healthier. Unless you get the very expensive organic one. Peppermint or lemon and ginger tea are lovely though, I'm just having one now!

AliceScarlett · 31/01/2016 19:18

I really need to exercise more, just SO lazy Confused

I've decided to set myself a longer term goal of being pregnant by July. It feels like ages away, but its only 6 months and I think that will stop my obsessing in the short term. If July comes and I'm still not upduffed I'll deal with the emotional fall out then. But at least I'm giving myself some leeway and taking the pressure off.

ButtonTum · 31/01/2016 20:26

Hi everyone, can I join?
We've decided to ttc from April after our "last big holiday". I'm 33, DH is 34 & this will be our first.
I started taking pregnacare pre conception vitamins in December and watching ovia like a hawk! Very easy to get carried away with all the literature. I keep imagining that as we're starting to try in April that I have this magical date of January and we'll have a baby - but I know that in reality that is so unlikely! I'm terrified to think that it won't happen at all, the not knowing I think is going to be the hardest part.
Looking forward to chatting to you all.

RaeSkywalker · 31/01/2016 20:44

Hi Button, I'm on the Pregnacare and am also terrified of noting happening!!

ButtonTum · 31/01/2016 20:56

I've done the double whammy and gone and bough wellman conception and pre-seed too. Premature much!? I guess it's never too early 😬

mangocoveredlamb · 31/01/2016 21:08

My DH is popping the Wellman!

I'm exactly the same Button, I know it won't happen straight away, but I can't stop thinking about what it'll be like if we do!

ButtonTum · 31/01/2016 21:14

Mango is he happy to take them? I have gone with buy first, feed later! Can't hurt!

AliceScarlett · 31/01/2016 21:16

Never too early to stock up :) my Internet cheapie PT's came the day before I was due to test...although that was probably not a bad thing.

Also terrified that nothing will happen. Think I'll be ok until I get to ten months, after that I'll start freaking out.

mangocoveredlamb · 31/01/2016 21:20

Yes he is button, but possibly because we both took them last time too!

ButtonTum · 31/01/2016 21:23

I have a bathroom cabinet full of op tests and PTs too, sitting waiting. Gah! Going to start getting ready so I'm all over every moment of my cycle. So exciting.
