Relaxed TTC Feb/March/April 2016

Hi,

We've just agreed to start TTC #1 in March so just starting to look at preparing for that - prenatal vitamins, losing some weight, etc.

I'm 33 and have only been with my OH for just over a year but we're both sure this is the relationship for us...we'll be getting married but want TTC as a priority and fit any wedding around Mother Nature.

Not planning any temp checking or charting or such like....maybe I'll change my mind if I'm not preggers after six months or so!

Anyone planning TTC about the same time and want to keep in touch on this thread for relaxed catch ups about preparing and then TTC?

theresa if my cycle hadn't changed then i could have conceived on holiday which I was happy with, but now it would be 1-2 weeks before depending on the length of this cycle. So I don't know if I should wait till after or if it wouldn't really make a difference being 1-2 weeks pregnant. I'm assuming I wouldn't really know if i was pregnant. I think I'll try before anyway as not likely to happen first time.

There was someone going on a snowboarding holiday - my phone won't let me scroll back to first page to find your name now I've typed all of this, are you ttc before your holiday? I think your original post said you might?

stumbly that's great news about your meds, fingers crossed for the swimmers!

Vanillaradio · 13/01/2016 07:57

Wow this is exciting, we could be getting news of the first thread babies on the way anytime now! Good luck!

Avril, if I were you then I would wait till next cycle to be sure of dates but if fw stays 1-2 weeks before holiday I would wait till the following month then go for it. Even though almost certainly everything would be fine it would wreck the holiday for me worrying not knowing if I was pregnant and thinking about possible risks the whole time. You might get bfp first time, I did with ds!

As for me I have my first appointment with the pre conception diabetic clinic tomorrow, so hoping that goes well and can sort out when ttc will start. Hoping to get the all clear to start trying in March or April but if hba1c is not good enough I know I will end up in a waiting game like last time just hoping each appointment is the one where they give me the go ahead! That's why I have gone for an appointment slightly in advance of when I want to start trying this time but may not work!

jennymac31 · 13/01/2016 08:27

Well I had my first weigh-in yesterday after joining slimming world and lost 3 and 1/2 pounds so hopefully I can keep it going. Still planning on coming off the pill at end of February but hubby wants to wait until after our holiday in April. I'm also supposed to be going to a hen-do in June but the dates keep changing so not sure if we should hold off ttc until then.

AliceScarlett · 13/01/2016 09:52

Good luck with your appointment Vanilla, hope they give you the go ahead.

Well done jenny, 3.5lbs is a great start Smile

TheresaMarie55 · 13/01/2016 14:12

Hi everyone. Hope the appointment goes well vanilla.

Well done Jenny, my weight day is today to, 3lb loss this week, very happy with that x

shopaholic85 · 14/01/2016 15:56

Hi all. Is it too late for me to join? I will be TTC again in Feb post miscarriage. We conceived after 4 months last time, but sadly lost the baby at 6 weeks. I'm 31 and have been with my DH for 6 years.

I don't want to get too obsessed so going to take a relaxed approach as well. I don't really watch what I eat or exercise, so would like to get fitter for this round.

The main issue is that both my DH and I have stressful jobs that involve working some evenings and weekends. Any tips on making time to BD?

TheresaMarie55 · 14/01/2016 15:58

Hi shopaholic and welcome. Sorry to hear of your loss. Hmmm, maybe if you have more mornings together than evenings make time then? Will put you both in a great mood for the day as an added bonus 😜 x

stumblymonkey · 14/01/2016 18:27

Welcome shopaholic!

No idea how much I've lost I'm not weighing but I can definitely see a little difference in the mirror.

However I've skipped bootcamps since Christmas due to a bad back but now it's better which means I'm going to have to haul my ass out of bed at 5.50am for bootcamp tomorrow

Shopaholic...I vote for DTD in the morning too....that's what we tend to do!

shopaholic85 · 14/01/2016 18:56

Thanks for the tips ladies. My husband has a very strict morning routine that I'd hate to interrupt but will give it a go tomorrow morning Wink

AliceScarlett · 14/01/2016 19:18

DH and I also disscussed making time in the mornings, evenings are busy and he loves the gym so if often tired. Trying not to find it frustrating.

AliceScarlett · 15/01/2016 15:10

DH is putting the effort in Grin my fears were clearly unfounded. 1st day of my 1st 2 ww. Determined not to start symptom spotting.

stumblymonkey · 15/01/2016 16:41

I'm at a friend's for dinner tonight and then will try and rouse DP for one more DTD before my ovulation time ends. Then I'll be joining you for the 2ww too Alice.

Am also going to try not to symptom spot or take a test unless my AF is late!

So excited for you two! X

stumblymonkey · 15/01/2016 17:40

After soooooo many years focusing on NOT getting pregnant it feels bizarre to DTD hoping for pregnancy. Surreal!

OP posts:
AliceScarlett · 15/01/2016 18:31

Yeah I'm not going to take a test every month either. Difficult to know when AF is due though because its my first week off contraception.

MoodyOne · 15/01/2016 22:00

Hey guys !
I am new (this is my first post) Grin
I am hoping I'm reading all the letters right , I assume TTC is trying to conceive? (If it's not I'm going to sound like a right idiot)
But my and my husband are trying on my next cycle which should be the begging of Feb ... We have said we arnt going to go proper into it like work out the exact time to have sex , but if say I was Wink I read somewhere that two days before ovulation would be the best time, is that right ? We are going to have a relaxed 6 months then really try but, I just want one , I'm trying to stay calm like oh it'll be fine , but I'm actually hoping I fall pregnant the first time I try, crazy right !

AliceScarlett · 15/01/2016 22:27

Nah not crazy, once you get going its easy to just want it to happen quickly.

Yup about 2 days before ovulation is a good time, those swimmers can hang around a bit waiting for the egg Smile

stumblymonkey · 16/01/2016 08:42

Welcome Moody and yes, two days before ovulation is good.

Definitely not crazy; as soon as we made the decision I've very much wanted to get upduffed!

Without going mental with ovulation prediction kits and things...if you have a fairly regular cycle you can use an app like Pink Pad to track your periods and it will tell you roughly when you're likely to be ovulating. I've used it for a few months before even thinking about TTC just to remind myself when my period is due so it's coming in useful now...

Vanillaradio · 16/01/2016 08:56

Those first times without protection are really odd aren't you they. Good luck Alice and Stumbly and hi Moody you are definitely not crazy, you sound perfectly normal to me!
My appointment went really well! The consultant is happy with my control and my hba1c is 6.9 which is lower than when I got pregnant with ds! So he is happy for us to start trying when we are ready but would prefer me to have been on the folic acid for 2 to 3 months first. So looks like we are on for April!

Nimisha · 16/01/2016 09:23

Hi everyone can I join?

After a couple of years of deliberating I finally decided and persuaded DH to try for number three, only one problem, my coil is stuck! I've had two attempts at removing it in the family planning clinic and scan to check it still there (it is) but no joy.

I'm waiting for a hospital appointment which is not until March! So just concentrating on getting healthy. I'm doing a caffeine free experiment (only meant to cut down but I thought I'd see how I felt off the caffeine) and cutting down on alcohol. Intermittently taking vitamins (keep forgetting). Trying to track my cycles but add it's a mirena coil they are a bit all over the place.

Feeling a bit in limbo. With my first I just came off the pill, went for it and conceived in the first month. Feel like I can't even start but it seems there are a few people in the same situation.

Felipa · 16/01/2016 09:43

Mega jealous those who are in their 2ww already but good luck!!

Only 6-7 weeks for us to wait woo hoo.

Have managed to cut down slightly on caffeine (swapping my morning espresso for tea and then instead of strong coffee the rest of the day have been drinking half caff stuff).

Going out for a long-planned dinner tonight and will have a few drinks but no more than 3.

Lemon27 · 16/01/2016 10:10

Hi all, so I'll be finished my second last pill pack next week so will be coming off the pill around the start of March. Hoping to have a month or 2 to kinda assess my 'normal' cycle and then going to 'start'. We've agreed to not exactly try but not prevent for a few months and see where we are.

We've a 2 week holiday booked in May so in our heads that's our official start date. I've been on a health kick now the past few weeks, have swapped to green tea from normal tea and coffee and find I'm sleeping much better.

Are you all going to abstain from drinks around the times of any possible BFPs? I am just thinking I've a few things coming up and if I don't drink eyebrows will be raised (not that I would care about that) but at the same time don't want to live like a monk if I don't have to.

TheresaMarie55 · 16/01/2016 12:01

Hi lemon, I stopped drinking completely as soon as I came off the pill with my second, was going to again this time but have decided not to. I'm coming off the pill either at the end of March or mid April. My cycles are normally the same each month so pretty easy to track when I'm ovulating etc. I'll be avoiding drinking during the 2ww each month but if say we are at a family do during my totm or the days following and I fancy a drink I will have one. I don't normally drink at home but do like a drink at a party or wedding etc. x

Lemon27 · 16/01/2016 14:17

Hi Theresa thanks - i think I'll do something similar. I'm trying to lose a few lbs and staying off booze always helps me with that so no harm abstaining but I think it'd be nice to be able to have a glass of wine the odd time. I know they say that even if you've had a drink and find out afterwards that you are pregnant that it's going to be fine, but would prefer not to chance it!

stumblymonkey · 16/01/2016 18:05

Welcome Nimisha!

I don't drink much anyway but have promised myself a drink when I get my period....that way I'll have something to look forward to even if I don't get a BFP.

"Shit...no BFP but at least I can crack open this prosecco!"
