Hello

Newbie here, so please bear with me while I learn all the terminology and abbreviations!

eskimoflo suggested I post in here on Bumsnet Bus thread instead of main forum so here goes...

35 years old, been TTC for 14 months+ and still no luck. Been using an app to track periods, cm, 'activity' (lol) etc. Already taking pre-conception vitamins etc.

Suspect one of my ovaries is not quite doing it's job properly as I've had 2 missed periods in the last year, but pregnancy test always negative and bleed comes back the next month.

Overweight too and on docs advice have been sorting that to help - 3.5st lost so far, down to size 20 from 32! Work in progress...

Waiting on appointment with fertility specialist but seems to be taking ages (although that's probably in my head - c. 18wk wait according to website). Initial tests show partner is fine, but my day 21 indicated no ovulation that cycle.

Getting both impatient and emotional now!

All advice and TLC very much welcomed.

Thank you x

loopylou1984 · 07/01/2016 20:04

Hey blueberry, welcome!

I guess you have to repeat your day21 test then? Don't worry yet, it's normal to have 1 or 2 anovulatory cycles a year so it may not mean anything.

Big well done on the weight loss! Xx

Rainy34 · 07/01/2016 20:11

Spinning i remember you saying a few months ago that you were giving it till the end of the year and then deciding not to try anymore , hopefully the month you decide to stop trying it will be your month!!

welcome Blueberry you have come to the right place, for lots of support, hopefully your day 21 was just a blip and the next one will show that you have ovulated but if not there is things that can help you ovulate , so try not to stress

MagpieCursedTea · 07/01/2016 21:09

Welcome blueberry, well done on the weight loss! I hope you get your appointment soon.

Thanks all so far. Weight loss = Slimming World for the win!

Had 2 blood tests, neither showed right levels of progesterone so far. Won't know anything else until i've seen specialist, but just getting frustrated and disheartened while waiting :-(

FuzzyOwl · 07/01/2016 22:55

Thanks spinning.

Hi Pikz. Hope things are good with you.

woodpigeon123 · 08/01/2016 06:07

AF arrived so I'm out.... On to the next one.

Think this is cycle 15 now? I'm losing count!

BorisIsBack · 08/01/2016 08:24

Welcome blueberry. It's tough isn't it, but sounds like you are doing all the right stuff to get checked out.

DizzyNorthernBird · 08/01/2016 09:37

Welcome blueberry, congratulations on the weight loss. Slimmers world is a fantastic way to lose weight. As others have said, prog is easily corrected so fx you'll have your bfp before long!

Thanks spinning! It's not until April, this is week one of training. I'm hoping to stick to it this time, my last half was awful after a half hearted attempt to train as I was convinced I would get pregnant and wouldn't be able to take part on race day Blush. I'm not letting ttc hold me back this time! I'm chasing a new pb! Make sure you check in with us soon!

Bah! At af pigeon Flowers

FuzzyOwl · 08/01/2016 20:54

Hi Dizzy sorry, I am out of sorts since my name change! Hope you get both your BFP and to race.

ThePug · 08/01/2016 22:08

Popping in to let you know that I'm still here keeping an eye on all your news despite not posting often. Hoping the new year brings lots of positivity and positive tests! Good luck to Boris with starting your IVF journey, to Sammy with the next transfer round, Pixa with getting your treatment, DizzyN with getting some tests done, DizzyM on getting that sticky bfp and to all the newbies (and not so newbies) who I see are keeping the thread nice and supportive Smile

I hope they won't mind me updating you all, but in addition to baby Chops and baby Heir , recent arrivals also in the form of a baby boy for knit , a baby boy for Dojo , a baby girl for Tessiegirl , a baby girl for oysterbabe and a baby boy for babsbunny . And more Bumsnet babies due in the next few weeks!

DizzyNorthernBird · 09/01/2016 11:02

Hi pug! Thanks for the update, it's amazing that all those babies are appearing already! Although I'm sure it felt like forever whilst waiting for them to arrive!

It's crazy that it's a year since bumsnet really got going! If you didn't look at the thread for one evening you would have about ten pages to catch up on!

But it makes me a little sad at the same time for the few of us who are still here Sad. I'm really conscious at the moment of the thought that we should have started ttc sooner. If only I'd known then what I know now! My first couple of months on the buses I actually thought (and naively felt a bit smug) about the fact that I wouldn't be around for long.....how foolish was I!

Must keep trying though....part of me feels ready for giving up, but it's only a few days until my scan now. I really really hope it can give me some answers. I'm not sure how much longer I can do this for!

blueberry549 · 09/01/2016 12:20

Hello DizzyNorthernBird, now that's a feeling I can relate to! Never thought when I started ttc that it would take this long. How long have u been trying if you don't mind me asking? And how long has the journey been with specialists to scan? I've already had external and internal ultrasound and they couldn't see anything wrong but seems to be taking ages to get specialist fertility clinic appt. hugs for you xxx

Rainy34 · 09/01/2016 12:22

Dizzy I also can't believe that we have been on the bumsnett for a year, its been lovely to have all of the support from this bus, I too wish we had have started trying a lot sooner, but at the time we wanted to, my dh mother was critically ill in hospital so it got pushed to the back of the list,

I hope your scan gives you the answers you need to get the help to get your bfp!!!

DizzyNorthernBird · 09/01/2016 13:27

rainy in reality we couldn't have started sooner anyway as we couldn't have taken the risk of pregnancy back then....DP was going through a divorce, things were extremely tight financially, he was suffering from stress due to divorce and work, we were in a one bed flat etc etc...list goes on. The timing just wasn't right. But if I'd have known, at least we'd be a year or so further down the line with investigations! I would always tell anyone to get cracking with ttc now. You can't put it off because you just don't know what hurdles you might encounter.

Thanks blueberry. We started in December 2014, but I have long ish and sometimes irregular cycles which means we're only just starting cycle 12 now. Had cd21 bloods in July, good results, GP was dismissive of my claim that my cycles were irregular, saying that they weren't irregular enough to indicate a problem! Recommended next step would be an SA for DP, however I didn't really push him to get this done because we both still thought it would happen soon. I went back to the GP around the end of November after my previous cycles ranging between 41, then 30, the 52 days long. She now agrees there might be an issue and got me referred, my appointment should have been on the 30th December (had to change it because of work) so I didn't have to wait long at all. DP has been referred for his SA & we're waiting for his appt to come through, we were originally told be the GP it was a six month wait but he's been told it should be no longer than three months. GP says they won't do any further investigations until the SA results are in, so we've got a bit of a wait ahead of us if my scan doesn't show any problems!

blueberry549 · 09/01/2016 15:00

Totally symathise DizzyNorthernBird My cycles are so variable - have been tracking on app since last Feb and they range from 19 days to 38 days. Plus have had two completely missed periods over the year too (suspected anovulation) which messes everything up. We started trying Dec 2014 too. Sadly for me but good for us DH's SA was off the charts good(!) so always feel like it's my 'fault' we've been unsuccessful so far Sad Really hope our appt comes through soon, been waiting since early Nov so maybe another month? Not sure and currently trying to chase as i'm inpatient! Hope your DP's appt comes through soon xx

DizzyMerry · 09/01/2016 18:37

Welcome blueberry. Hope your appointment comes through quickly.

You're right dizzy we just don't know what hurdles we'll have with ttc. We could do with the benefit of hindsight though. Hope your DF's SA appt comes through quickly.

It's nice to see you on here again spinning. It must have been a tough decision and I hope you invoke the law of sod by stopping ttc!

Sorry AF got you pigeon.

BorisIsBack · 09/01/2016 21:17

Hi all dizzyn I'm also reading the exciting updates of our grads feeling sad for us original bumsnetters, it's been a long old journey for thoes of us still here and way tougher than I ever imagined. I've had two Christmases without a longed for baby or even a bump.

Keep the faith though. we will get there. I'll keep holding all your hands till we allcross the finish line if you'll keep holding mine? X

loopylou1984 · 09/01/2016 21:46

I'm with you Boris, hand holding till the finish :). Xx

AmyC86 · 09/01/2016 23:42

Hey ladies,

Sorry I've not been around lately xx Christmas and new year have been a total blur! Anyway, my update:

Went for my gyne appointment on the 4th. Dr was very nice, much nicer than the consultant I had last time (two years ago at initial tests) wants to repeat some of the tests: ultrasound and sperm sample. Then once the results are in from those we'll get to work on the clomid!!!!!!!

Got my ultrasound appointment for the end of the month & my next gyne appointment is for the 29th February.

The consultant did discuss my weight issue & my BMI she also said that she'd like to see some weight loss by the time I go back at the end of February. I understand the reasons for it, because I won't get IVF if the clomid doesn't work.

The only question on my lips now is how they'd 'make' me have a AF as I've not seen her since June😰

Congrats to those who have had their BFPs
