You can't beat a Freddie Mercury-themed title to get a new thread going Grin

None Keep, apart from the obvious pregnancy symptoms.

keepitgoing · 10/11/2015 21:43

Hmm you should keep a good eye on things. You may be one of those who don't realise they are preggers for 9 months, think they need a poo, and out slips a baby!

keepitgoing · 10/11/2015 21:43

Argh it's only Tuesday, my results aren't till Thursday

Weddingbelle13 · 10/11/2015 22:01

What does Brooking and rat smacking mean ive always meant to ask lol x

Imps9 · 10/11/2015 22:37

Ahhhh you might well ask Belle. We like to think of TTC as that traditional village fete game of smack the rat. It's all in the timing. There was a beautiful description of it in the first ever rat smackers thread which someone much cleverer than I will probably be able to find a link to.

As for brooking no argument, I believe it's a saying which has the same meaning as no taking no for an answer though I'd never heard of it before joining this thread and still am not sure whether or not it's made up.

Where do you usually hang out Belle?

Weddingbelle13 · 10/11/2015 22:59

Haha that makes sense now kind of like whack a mole ?!? I'm only new so just been on the conception boards - ttc#1 for 26 months now - bmi too high for nhs clomid and had 1mc at 6ush weeks so just looking for some hand holding really x

Imps9 · 11/11/2015 07:20

Yes, that's exactly it. Although of course for some of us timing alone isn't enough - but there isn't really a village fete game that accurately reflects assisted conception (at least I don't think with us).

If hand-holding is what you're after then you've come to the right place. We're a right mix and between us someone will almost certainly have been there, done that in the TTC game. We're a mix of instadiffers, short-term TTCers, mid-term TTCers, long-term TTCers; some are trying for DC1, some DC2, some DC3 and some (although I can only think of one - Dino) DC4. We've had miscarriages, chemical pregnancies, later losses. We have male factor infertility, female factor infertility, sperm donors, egg donors. We've had natural BFPs, FUFC BFPs, BFPs after IVF/assisted conception. There have been BFPs for Brookers in their 40s and BFPs for Brookers in their 20s and every age in between. We try to stay as positive as we can, although sadness is completely okay too. Some Brookers are here frequently, some are lurkers but either way the only thing we want for everyone is a baby.

I think that pretty much sums us up!

Imps9 · 11/11/2015 07:21

So when I wrote "I don't think with us", obviously what I meant to write was "I don't think there is" Confused. Need more tea, obviously.

keepitgoing · 11/11/2015 07:44

Hi belle welcome, I'm sorry to hear about your mc. Do you have ovulation issues then? What investigations have they done?

keepitgoing · 11/11/2015 07:47

Hmm imps assisted conception is not unlike any of those fairground games, you know, where you plough a load of money in to try and win the huge teddy, but the chances of you winning are not that high...

Imps9 · 11/11/2015 13:51

Yes, that is absolutely what it's like Keep. It's like the Claw. You put your money in and then you have control of the Claw. Sometimes, it's not that easy to control and the Claw doesn't end up in a good position so you're not in with a chance of winning anything. Sometimes it's really easy to control, and you think "wow, this is really great - looks like I'm in with a great shout of ending up with a stuffed toy", only for the Claw to come back empty. Sometimes the Claw grabs onto that toy and you think "yes, this is it!" only for it to drop your prize right at the last moment.

But sometimes, just sometimes, the Claw grabs the toy, hangs on to it and delivers it straight to you. You're so delighted to finally have a prize that you forget all of the money you've spent trying to get it and all the disappointments you've faced along the way. And you and your stuffed toy live happily ever after.

The End.

keepitgoing · 11/11/2015 16:04

Grin and that stuffed toy is such a delight that you decide you need another, and start the whole damn thing again...

Imps9 · 11/11/2015 16:46

Indeed! Or at some point you realise that the machine is clearly completely buggered and never going to work, so you decide to source a stuffed toy from elsewhere, or find something else to play with.

Weddingbelle13 · 11/11/2015 22:17

Progesterone investigations showed that my highest level over a 4 month period was 29 so they told me I would not be ovulating but I did that time so I pushed for the progesterone pessary which I will use next time (fingers crossed) that I get pregnant to see if it helps x

Imps9 · 12/11/2015 07:44

Will the progesterone help with ov Belle? Or do they think that you are ov'ing, just not producing enough prog?

Imps9 · 12/11/2015 09:06

Results day today Keep. Will they phone you or will you phone them? BROOKING NO ARGUMENT that all is well.

Imps9 · 12/11/2015 13:25

Any news Keep??

keepitgoing · 12/11/2015 13:39

Not yet, damn doctors seeing patients... ;)

keepitgoing · 12/11/2015 17:51

11 :( should be 18-25 for my age
Short protocol high stimms here we come

Imps9 · 12/11/2015 18:48

11 is not awful. Sorry you feel sad about it. It just takes one and you will definitely get way more than one.

keepitgoing · 12/11/2015 19:36

Yeah it's not awful, I know xx

Weddingbelle13 · 12/11/2015 20:35

Hi all the most recent thinking is if I produced enough to ovulate then the pessarys would help give me a boost to keep things going x

Imps9 · 13/11/2015 09:16

Mr Imps' DNA fragmentation results have came back - 59% defrag which is high (normal is 0-24%) but nowhere never the level where they'd recommend sperm donor (95%+) which is really good news. The clinic recommendation remains IMSI (like ICSI but they magnify the sperm by a greater amount to identity abnormalities) although I may ask about extracting sperm directly from the bollocks (medical term) as that seems to be recommended in the literature.

How are you feeling today Keep? Hope you're not down. So many people have far far lower AMH and still get a baby (Far and Smegs for two).

QueenMolotov · 13/11/2015 09:23

I've been amused whilst thinking of rat-smacking as some carnivalesque lottery. It really is. There's no sense of justness to it. It feels like a cruel lottery sometimes but I have found and still find a strange comfort in knowing that there is no grand plan. There is no fairness. It either happens, or not. It's all chance. There is no logic to conception at all. So keep, don't loose heart as pregnancies happen randomly even when you think there is zero chance x

Welcome belle Smile Well that sucks, not being given access to NHS Clomid. Is there really no way? Our dd2 was conceived after 6 cycles of clomid (had been trying with no luck for 2y). It seems very stern to not try you on it.

It's CD18 for me and my boobs have started becoming painful again (completely normal for me as you may know). I've had a bit of darker discharge, which I don't know if it means anything (other than I'm over the hump of uncertainty and would actually like to be of again!) Looks like symptom spotting has started already!

X-posted with Imps. That's really positive news about Mr. Imps' swimmers! I know a bit about ICSI but not IMSI - someone I once knew conceived first time with ICSI. Her partner was a lot older than her and his sperm mobility and motility was slow, slow, slow. But it worked and their ICSI baby boy is now 9yo! What are the success rates for IMSI like? Would you go through a same/similar process of ovarian stimulation, etc, once they'd sorted Mr. Imps' best sperm?
