(...or poke me in the right direction of an existing one?)

We've been fannying around ttc#2 for a while now, and I'm starting to feel deflated Sad

What do you think? Have you tried it? Doing it? Can we even do that much shagging? Blush

Failing that, can you kick me up the arse to cheer me up? Grin

I'd test on the 5th if I were you. When we start ttc again I'm not going to test early for fear of seeing a chemical. Good luck and FX it is your month xx

Bugmuncher · 10/01/2016 21:44

How are you ladies finding SMEP this month? I'm moving into a the TWW. I really don't want to be crazy and will try to keep off google. I need to plan things to keep me distracted!

VillageFete · 11/01/2016 15:53

Hi ladies, can I join? Been trying to conceive for 16 months now, been diagnosed with PCOS but I do ovulate at least every other month, according to blood tests and the clear blue advanced fertility monitor.

Going to try SMEP this month. My clear blue monitor has told me to start testing for ov on day 9. Am I correct in thinking with SMEP I dtd from day 10 every other day, then once I get my "peak" on my clear blue ov monitor I dtd for 3 days consecutively, have a day off and then once more for luck?

I'm knackered just thinking of it Confused

Bugmuncher · 11/01/2016 16:18

Welcome village! Yep that's the plan. The only time I found it tiring was probably on the third day of the consecutive days. DTD every other day means you don't get too tired. Which OV test are you using?

Bugmuncher · 11/01/2016 16:19

Also the day you start depends on the length of your cycles. There's a free booklet on Amazon that details it all that's worth having a look at

Mimilicious013 · 11/01/2016 16:50

Welcome village, and well said bug.hope everyone had a good day.

CamMc · 11/01/2016 17:14

Welcome village!

I think I definitely ov'd on Saturday (had really strange pain in my pelvis for about an hour in the afternoon while shopping - nearly had to sit down it was so strong), so entering into the dreaded TWW. Will dtd once more tonight just in case! Happy Monday everyone

VillageFete · 11/01/2016 18:05

Bug I'm using the clear blue advanced fertility monitor. You POAS when it prompts you. You get low days, high days and then peak days. It says when you get peak you will ovulate between 24 and 36 hours later. My cycles changes, this month it was 28 days (lowest it's ever been) The month before it was 32 days, the month before that it was 35 days and the month before that it was 29 days. The monitor is telling me to start testing on day 9 this month, so do you think that it when I should start SMEP?

Have their been any success stories on here using SMEP? I'm not sure how many months I could keep it up for. I often work late in my freelance job (til about midnight, meaning I don't get home and in bed until 1am) And it wouldn't be the best time to DTD as i'm always knackered! Up at 7am for school run.

VillageFete · 11/01/2016 18:06

Also, I don't think my body ever lets me know when I ovulate. I never get ovulation twinges and I never get that clear discharge that I hear some people get? Now and again i'll get a thick, white, creamy bit of discharge in my underwear Blush but I don't think that indicates ovulation, does it?

Seacrown · 11/01/2016 19:25

Does anyone have a good understanding of opks? I know in theory they're pretty self explanatory but I'm a bit confused. Started using Internet cheapies twice daily from cd8. All negative but with a light second line. Tested text today, cd11 so surely gearing up for ovulation and had no second line at all on either. Is this normal? I've had quite a lot of tea today, possibly not concentrated enough? Just wondering about any other experiences! Thank you x

Loki17 · 11/01/2016 21:32

I had success with the smep plan although my pregnancy sadly ended in miscarriage. I'll be using the plan again when we are ready to ttc. Seacrown I gave up with opks. I had nothing but faint positives which are actually negatives for about a week. All they did was stress me out about when to bd. In the end I worked out when the midpoint of my cycle was and bd'd everyday for 5 days with the middle of my cycle being day 3. The rest of the time we did eod. It worked Smile

Seacrown · 11/01/2016 22:05

Thank you Loki, that's very sensible advice. Feel like I'm dwelling on them far too much, even considered forking out for the digital ones when I really can't afford it. I'll talk to my OH and see what he thinks . Thank you. How are you doing Loki? X

CamMc · 12/01/2016 07:31

Seacrown I started using internet cheapies OPKs and didn't ever get a positive. I convinced myself that I wasn't ovulating. I then read that the clearblue digital was good because it tests for two hormones. Since using those, I have had a clear result every month. I got mine from Amazon with 20 sticks and that has lasted me a few months (I test from day 10 and oblate on day 13/14 so only use a few per month).
Personally I don't always have a lot of mucus around ovulation (my acupuncturist said no all women do) so I find the only way to know is OPKs. I definitely felt myself ovulate on Saturday but have never felt that before. Also, not sure I would have known what it was if I had't got the positive test that morning.

Loki17 · 12/01/2016 08:33

I'm ok. Getting there anyway. Gearing myself up to start all of this again in a month or so. Scary if im honest but I must look ahead.

Bugmuncher · 12/01/2016 09:54

Seacrown I use the dual hormone digi clear blue OV test. I like it because it gives me certainty and helps me plan when we should be DTD 3 days in a row rather than EOD. Because an OPK has to be as strong or stronger than the control line I would be stressing out trying to figure out whether or not it's positive.

Loki17 I'm sorry for your loss. Will you use SMEP again?

Loki17 · 12/01/2016 14:56

Definitely - it worked last time x

CamMc · 12/01/2016 15:15

Loki if you don't mind me asking, how many cycles did you try SMEP last time before it worked?

Loki17 · 12/01/2016 17:28

One! I didn't use opks but followed the bd guidelines.

Bugmuncher · 13/01/2016 11:17

loki you give me hope. Yesterday was the last DTD on SMEP so back to doing it just for fun now 🙂. I'm now in the dreaded TWW but I refuse to symptom spot as I drove myself crazy last month even though we weren't properly trying!!

CamMc · 14/01/2016 07:27

Morning everyone. How are people doing this week? Hopefully keeping warm! When is everyone due to test this month? X

VillageFete · 14/01/2016 12:41

I am gearing up to try SMEP properly for the first time this month. I'm shattered even thinking about it! 16 months in TTC and i'm so fed up of it!

I'm on day 7 of my cycle and my cycles are approx between 29 and 35 days (although I had a 27 day cycle this month) Going to start BD on day 9 I think, as this is when my clear blue advanced fertility monitor is telling me to test for ov.

Praying it works, I really, really, really need to get pregnant and not sure how long I could do SMEP!

Bugmuncher · 19/01/2016 09:19

Morning everyone. I did SMEP this month and today I took a test (earlier than I should have) and got a faint second line so fingers crossed its worked! X

VillageFete · 19/01/2016 09:22

bug oh fingers crossed!! Huge congratulations in advance!

I bought conceive plus lubricant yesterday and am using it in conjunction with smep this month. Apparently it gets sperm where it needs to go.

CamMc · 19/01/2016 10:04

Congratulations bug that is great news!! Amazing! How many days post ovulation are you?

I'm due to test on Sunday, although could test early on Thursday.

Bugmuncher · 19/01/2016 15:44

Thank you guys! A bit of a surprise because I'm only 10dpo so I am being cautiously optimistic. Village I also used Conceive Plus this month. Cam I couldn't resist doing a test 😳
