Hello, I know it has been done so many times before but when I get to cd1 (yet again) I find it helps to think about what I've tried before that didn't work, what helped me cope and what I have yet to try so here's my list:

STOP
-OPKs (they just stress me out)
-Checking CP (don't think it's worth it)
-Focusing on fertile week only (OV happened early this cycle and caught me off guard)
-Putting too much pressure on both DH and I (we always have huge rows just before OV because I don't think we are BDing enough!)

KEEP
-Charting temps & CM
-Taking B6 (helped with PMS & maybe LP as it's been extended by 1 or 2 days last 2 cycles)
-Taking pre-natal vits
-Taking Royal Jelly (overall well being)
-Drinking grapefruit juice
-Using saliva scope (didn't work last cycle but that was the first one of using it)
-Trying to stay calm and relax

START
-watching diet and drinking less
-consider acupuncture/reflexology
-re-read books

How about the rest of you?

Hi MrsMcJ,
Good idea... You sound very positive, even though I'm sure you are feeling grumpy too.
I am on CD6, so similarly thinking about a new approach for this month.

STOP
-Stressing out around day 14! And getting cross with DP for not jumping on me sufficiently!
-Thinking that I am never going to get a BFP.

START
-Drinking grapefruit juice
-Going to try out OP sticks (but with knowledge that they might not work...so just for fun)
-BD more, starting from today. At least every 2 days.
-Eat healthy- ie more fruit and veg
-Cut out caffeine
-Enjoy December/My DD birthday/ Disneyland/ Christmas!

xcharlotte · 02/12/2006 15:40

Good idea! AF is now here to stay, so here goes for my things to do/not do over the coming cycle.

STOP
-Not many things to stop... it's too early for any nascent obsession to have really taken hold of me (yet). But I do need to watch it.
-Drinking too much.
-Having the occasional crafty ciggie (why am I doing it? They make me feel sick!)

START
-Charting properly. Am looking forward to having completed my first chart on ovusoft. Is that sad???
-Will try drinking grapefruit juice and taking Evening Primrose on top of my usual stash of vits.
-Have ordered a saliva thingie so will hopefully start using that.
-Exercise more, and focus on spending the month getting fit and healthy.

Although, dp did say to me, softly, "you do realise that you're becoming quite... serious... about all this. I don't mind,

xcharlotte · 02/12/2006 15:41

Oops, not very good editing in post below!! First day crankiness of AF...

snowydays · 02/12/2006 16:52

How about eating more mince pies and singing carols?

MrsMcJnr · 03/12/2006 10:04

Honeyapple trying to find a brave, positive attitude but it is hard isn't it? .

I must stop thinking I am never going to get a BFP too. In the last 24 hours I have kept having thoughts along the lines that I'm broken or that we don't deserve a baby etc. Really not very constructive.

I must eat healthier too, I do try and am quite good with veg but don't eat much fruit really.

I hardly have any caffeine and I have stopped drinking diet fizzy drinks too.

You are right, December is a fun month with lots to look forward to and maybe a BFP...

Xcharlotte - sorry about AF I should do more exercise too! I'm afraid the whole TTC rollercoaster does get pretty full on for most of us, but it's just how we handle it that we can control .

Good plan Snowydays

Hi MrsMcJnr - just tried to get hold of you on the other thread.

(It's Sunshinedays BTW!)

I totally recognise what you are saying - can I suggest you try some acupuncture or reflexology - I think you might find it soothes the soul as well as aids fertility.

vitomum · 03/12/2006 10:55

good luck all. I am in 3rd month of ttc a dc2. have lurked on these a bit but could someone puleeeeeeze tell me what are: OPK, CP and BD. It's drivig me nuts!

MrsMcClaus · 03/12/2006 11:05

Thanks Snowy (I recognised you ) I think I will try the acupuncture in the NY. With my new job starting, I want to wait until things have settled down a bit to get the best state of mind. Would you agree?

Welcome Vitomum - hope you get that BFP soon!
OPK - Ovulation Predictor Kit
CP - Cervical Position
BD - Baby Dance (sex! )

vitomum · 03/12/2006 11:09

MrsMcLaus thank you most kindly. You have alleviated my stress levels considerably and will therefore be receiving credit for any BFP;s coming my way .

snowydays · 03/12/2006 11:10

MrsMcC - Now I'm comonhg at you from all angles!!!
Acupuncture can help you get in a good state of mind

RudolphsREADY · 03/12/2006 11:31

LOL at Vitomum's stress levels at the abbreviations on here... Welcome!! I'm also in my 3rd month of ttc but for number 1! Good luck!

RudolphsREADY · 03/12/2006 11:32

A friend of mine said that reflexology was a really good aid to getting pregnant. Does anyone know anything about reflexology and how it works??

MrsMcClaus · 03/12/2006 11:37

Rudolph's - when I had Reiki a few weeks ago, the therapist was talking to me about reflexology and she said that she could help me with that but that she would want to do couple's sessions so we agreed that I'd contact her once DH had recovered from his op. Worth a go don't you think?

RudolphsREADY · 03/12/2006 11:43

Definitely. I don't think anything that makes you relaxed and calm can be detrimental. Do they use essential oils like in aromatherapy?? or is it just pressure points in certain areas on the feet?

snowydays · 03/12/2006 11:43

As you can probably guess after 2.5 yrs I've tried most things!
If think it depends on what suits you and how you get on with the therapist.

Both reflexology & acupuncture work on pressure points connecting to energy flow. There are specific points relating to fertility, the ovaries, tubes etc. Some therapists say they can feel/sense energy blockages etc.

Obviously reflex didn't work for me - but I didn't click with the therapist. Others swear by it. I moved onto acupuncture and, although I'm not yet pg, it has helped me with emotional balancing and PMT.

I also think getting the western medicine checks are a good idea (c. 1yr ttc is you are less that 35, c.6mnth ttc if over 35... and yes... you can lie!)

RudolphsREADY · 03/12/2006 11:52

I love this board!! I love how clever everyone is!! I love you all!!!

Impatience · 04/12/2006 10:42

Hello ladies. I've pulled a chair up to this table, but am too grumpy to say anything. I just wanted to declare my lurkiness, and shall chat when I have anything worth saying

RudolphsREADY · 04/12/2006 11:54

BIG HUMUNGOUS HUG for Impatience (iMpatIeNCEPIE ) Hope you are not too grumpy... Although I totally understand!!

Am I allowed on this thread yet?? Technically not in the new cycle til the weekend (she's on her way!)

Impatience · 04/12/2006 11:58

Thanks Rudolph. And I'm VERY impressed with your word skills!

RudolphsREADY · 04/12/2006 12:07

Keep your chin up petal!!

greedyformincepies · 04/12/2006 12:11

perve! i love that you declared your lurkiness rather than just lurking like a perve should!
i too have nothing worth saying at the moment. i am not quite into next cycle yet but after af arrives (nothing like positive thinking hey!!!) i am going to STOP OBSSESSING! im not going to count days or take my temp or ANYTHING (apart from BD when we feel like it). it all upsets me too much and i really think it is affecting my mothering skills cos i have now dumped the kids in front of the tv so i can come on here. THAT is NOT good! i should be spending time with the ones i have not ignoring them and obsessing about ttc another. so anyway after af i reckon i will be giving MN a miss for a while. (or maybe i will lurk occasionally to see how you are all doing)

RudolphsREADY · 04/12/2006 12:20

I am with you on the stop obsessing! I am definitely going to do that next cycle!! I am not going to concentrate on the most fertile time to BDing, I am just going to have it when I fancy it

A friend of mine (one of the very few people that know we are trying) told me that I should get totally smashed off my face and I will get pg... Well I don't drink anymore, so won't be doing that, but the suggestion did make me laugh!

MrsMcClaus · 04/12/2006 13:34

Greedy - I don't believe a word of it! Please don't leave us, please!!! In my new job, I'm going to limit myself to lunch, evenings and weekends, how will I cope?! DH asked me yesterday if I was addicted to MN! - I probably am but you guys keep me going! Impatience - good to know you are there, play when you feel like it.

RudolphsREADY · 04/12/2006 13:55

I agree, Greedy don't go anywhere!! I went for 3 days and it felt like a month!! We would miss you!

My dh calls MN "The cult" or "cultnet" when I start a sentence with "oh yeah, I read such and such today" he'll smile and say "what on cultnet?" and I just say yeah!! I think I am addicted too.
