When to expect period - Provera

EllaMenoPea · 06/10/2015 09:42

As above really. I finished 5 days of Provera on Saturday to induce a bleed to start Clomid. When should I expect a period? Just wondering if anyone has any experiences. Google is telling me lots of different times. Getting impatient Blush

Ooh yes how did it go Robber?

Sorry to hear about your FIL's dog Boggle - pets are part of the family and it's so very sad when they have to leave us Sad

As Robber says Amy 50mg is a starter's dose - hopefully they'll ramp it up now Smile

Hope the Clomid isn't giving you too many nasty side effects Ella Smile

AFM I've been feeling tired and yucky which is to be expected as I'll be seven weeks tomorrow. Yes Robber it does feel more real but if it's ok with you guys I'm sticking around here as it feels too big a step to join a pregnancy thread at the moment. Need to ring my surgery tomorrow and ask for an appointment with the midwife. It feels so strange writing all of this - on reflection I'm not sure it has completely sunk in.

RobberBride · 30/05/2016 21:26

Boggle I'm so sorry, losing a pet is really hard. Flowers for you and your family.

Amy how are you feeling now?

Ella when is your first scan or bloodtest?

Moomin please do stick around! I can't believe it is 7 weeks already, where did that time go? I've actually got a question for you - did they tell you how many follicles you had at your baseline scan? She said I had 7 on one side and 8 on the other, and seemed pleased. Is that good?

AFM, skip this next paragraph if you want to avoid a rant. I'm a tad annoyed by the clinic's continuing incompetency and also wondering if they are as incompetent with their private patients as with NHS people like me. I won't bore you with all of the details (there are more than those I'm about to write about!) but after dragging myself out first thing on a BH Monday to go and get scanned and blood tested, they swore they would call me between 4 and 5pm with the blood test results. If they didn't call, I was to call them. They have my mobile, home number and DH's number, and I checked all nos before I left. They didn't call, so just before 5pm I called them, and got an answerphone saying their phonelines were shut til Tuesday Hmm. This means I don't feel safe starting stabbing tonight. Also, although the nurse seemed pleased with my scan, she said it looked like it might be PCOS after all, not HA, which means I could have tried metformin with clomid. I just wish they could make up their minds!!

Sorry and phew, that was therapeutic. I'll call them in the morning and hopefully be happily stabbing tomorrow night.

RobberBride · 30/05/2016 22:21

Urgh, just logged onto FB and got three baby bombs. Two of them I'm happy for (very nice women, also much older than me, so giving me hope). The third is a narcissistic borderline alcoholic and anorexic, plus a serial cheater. There's no justice.

EllaMenoPea · 31/05/2016 08:01

robber how frustrating, my clinic feels equally useless at times. Your scan sounds great though. I've hidden most people on FB Blush

Supposed to be having scans this week but it's £450 and we're going on holiday this month so may have to cancel them and go unscanned again Sad I've been feeling really sick so hopefully it means the clomid is working this time.

YouBoggleMyMind · 31/05/2016 08:31

My clinic has been questionable at times too. Not knowing what level of clomid I'm on, not knowing I'm now taking metformin. Asking if I was told to come back in for a scan or not. It's frustrating. Just hoping that I have some positive news in 24 hours time.

AmyC86 · 31/05/2016 20:43

Still waiting for AF or BFP ladies, although. Now I'm not sure what I'm going to do about starting a next cycle because I've just been given a date for knee surgery which is first week of July. I don't want this surgery to be postponed (as currently I'm in agony) if I happen to be pregnant at the time. So I might leave it a little later for ringing the clinic if AF etc doesn't show up, so at least for my surgery I'll be perhaps taking provera or norethisterone ready to start a new cycle of clomid.

Moomin37 · 31/05/2016 21:18

Robber I hope you've spoken to the clinic and can start stabbing tonight? I was never telephoned with my blood test results - they just mentioned the figure the next time I went in for a scan. When I saw them last week they said my estradol was 800 just before the trigger shot. In terms of baseline scans, they just wanted to see a thin lining (goes with the HA territory) so I could stab away (if thick they would have given me Provera to induce a bleed and get rid of it). I'm afraid I can't recall how many follies I had, but I think it was less than you - perhaps 4/5 on right and 3 in the left (smaller ovary that hides away). Really hope the delay doesn't cause a problem for you.

Moomin37 · 31/05/2016 21:23

Ella I only took Clomid once and was just offered a day 21 test and my clinic are very thorough and seem to like to minimise risk/do things by the book so I wouldn't be too worried about not having the scan. Perhaps if they ramp up the dose you may want to be a bit more cautious. But hey let's hope this round works and you don't have to bother Grin

Moomin37 · 31/05/2016 21:25

Oh Amy a bad knee on top of infertility is a bum deal Sad It sounds like you're taking a sensible approach though and I hope the surgery goes well SmileFlowers

Sorry about all the separate posts - it's so much easier to do one response at a time!!

EllaMenoPea · 31/05/2016 21:32

Thanks moomin hope you are well?

Hi everyone

Boogle got everything crossed for you for tomorrow! Will you know the results immediately?

Amy you poor thing, what bad luck. I've heard in quite a few places that you're less likely to get pregnant if you're at all unwell (your body goes into survival mode and dumps 'extras' like ovulation and pregnancy), so I agree it is probably better to get over the knee op and then start trying again. Is it an arthroscopy? Lots of luck.

Ella my clinic wouldn't scan on clomid either. I think it is fine to go unscanned, but can you get CD21 and 28 progesterone blood tests to check for ovulation?

Ella and Boggle sorry you've also got patchy clinics, though it does make me feel reassured that it isn't just me!

Moomin thanks, that's good to hear! When's your next scan?

AFM, the nurse phoned this morning to apologise and to tell me my oestrodial was low enough to start. Tonight DH did his best ER impression (he looked very professional getting the air bubbles out of the needle!), and I'm now officially on day 1 of menopur. Feels good to have something happening again!

EllaMenoPea · 31/05/2016 21:49

Yay robber!! This is soooo your round!!

OP posts:
YouBoggleMyMind · 31/05/2016 21:52

The scan will tell me if any follies have grown and are looking like they are going go on to release an egg. I'm not sure I can handle anymore bad news. Xxx

RobberBride · 31/05/2016 21:56

Thanks Ella Grin

Boggle you deserve some luck!!

YouBoggleMyMind · 31/05/2016 22:57

Will keep you all updated on my scan tomorrow morning. Just keep everything crossed for me and send positive vibes xxx

EllaMenoPea · 31/05/2016 23:02

Good luck boggle let us know Flowers

OP posts:
Moomin37 · 01/06/2016 05:05

Thinking of you Boggle and hoping for some cracking follies SmileFlowers

Hurrah for stabbing Robber Smile I am eternally grateful to all those post menopausal women who donated their pee to help make Menopur Grin

Can't believe it's Wednesday... wide awake worrying about everything I've got to do at work. Can't believe I have a midwife appointment tomorrow and hope I find out the date of my next scan.

YouBoggleMyMind · 01/06/2016 09:25

No leading follicles. Got to go back for a repeat scan next week but we'll be looking at other options after that. Gutted doesn't even cover it. Sad

YouBoggleMyMind · 01/06/2016 09:40

What happens after clomid?

EllaMenoPea · 01/06/2016 10:38

boggle I'm so sorry. What cd are you on? I've had no leading follicles early on and have still ovulated xxx

OP posts:
YouBoggleMyMind · 01/06/2016 12:00

Today is cd12. I go back in a week to check if anything has changed. I've just had a call from the clinic and I'm being referred to have a laparoscopy and ovarian drilling xxx

Moomin37 · 01/06/2016 12:20

Really sorry Boggle but you never know they might just need a little more time. Good news that the clinic have been in touch with the next steps Flowers

YouBoggleMyMind · 01/06/2016 13:11

I thought they would go on to injections. Not an operation. I'm scared. I'm also frustrated that I could have months of waiting again until I have a date for this operation.

EllaMenoPea · 01/06/2016 19:34

boggle if they do decide to go for the op (and they may not as you may still be pg this month) then it will increase your chances of a BFP. I conceived DD the month of my lap&dye and I know of so many stories the same, also it sounds it wouldn't just be investigative so that would help too!

OP posts:
YouBoggleMyMind · 01/06/2016 19:44

No, it's to burn some of my cysts away. This stops the androgen hormones from being released so much and also clears the run for some godforsaken eggs to actually be released. I'm frightened of having an op and I'm sad about having to wait even more. Thank you ella for your positive story xxx
