First month TTC#1....anybody else new to this game?

So, after 9 years together me and dh have decided to start trying. Last AF ended 29th June, I should be ovulating any day now. Very new to all this ttc malarkey so no idea what we're doing really!

I'm already making myself worry about a BFN in a couple of weeks. Didn't think I was that broody but it's all I can think about! Anybody else feeling/felt the same??

Hi always - just read the link about SMEP- that looks good I might follow but I have a long cycle too so not planning to start OPKs til 12dpo!
Welcome catsmother it took me 31 days until first bleed after pill. Although it can be longer. I stopped my pill in January and it's taken some time to get my cycle back on track but then some people it goes regular straight away! Good luck ttc!

I've been trying to have a very relaxed approach this month...so relaxed that I've been googling "how to increase chances of implantation" reading That Brazil nuts are supposed to help... Pineapple.... Drinking lots of water... i think it might all be old wife's tales!

Morning all, so I was feeling quite annoyed yesterday.

Came off AFS Sunday/Monday and ovia app predicted fertile period from 18th. Put some data in yesterday and it decided I was in my fertile period, did an ovulation test which came up positive! Anybody else ovulated really early in their cycle?!

Me and dh luckily dtd Thurs and yesterday but still a bit upset as we may have missed our chance this month.

However, by doing the test I have learnt something I didn't know about my cycle so I would now definitely recommend ovulation tests!!

Hi E11chick so lucky for testing and getting in there! I think I will have to do some random testing too as at this rate my AF (on day 9 of heavy bleeding - might need a transfusion!) Will overlap with my ovulation according to Ovia! I think this whole month will be a write off for me after this multiple AF visit, so tired I doubt I'll even ovulate as I'll be due another AF visit probably 2 days after this ones gone! What a mess, still, if I actually get a day where we can DTD we can call it call it a freebie this month hopefully next month will be a bit less ridiculous...

Hi everyone, so after my suspected IB last Sunday on CD33 (only had light bleeding that day) I've done a test weds eve and fri morn, both negative. Period irregular so don't know if late or not as today is CD39 if it wasn't AF, and last cycle was 37 days and one before 40 days. Went to doc fri and going to have blood test Monday and internal next Friday. May do another test tomorrow then just accept Mother Nature has been cruel with the signs this month. On the plus side if it was AF then I'm down to 32 day cycle (from 40)

In other news I have (unsurprisingly) cracked and started testing at 6dpo..... Was obvs negative so am now telling myself that's because I've tested too early ????????

Hey reeses - I did the same last month. This cycle I'm determined not to test until 14dpo (she says!!) That's the theory anyway!!

I am on cd11 today and yesterday and today I've had ewcm but ovulation test this am was negative. Not even a flashing smilie on the cb! This would be quite early for me to ovulate as cycles are always more than 30 days. Will test again tomorrow and hopefully will be entering my fertile window soon... Although ovia saying it's not until

...ovia estimating fertile window starts cd18. Thank goodness for ovulation sticks as definitely expecting it sooner with my symptoms.
reeses yes that's far too early! Hehe! I would try hold off for a while longer although I know how you feel - I am also very impatient and test early!

Hi Laylaloo20 hope you get a smiley face soon! Af still messing me about - ovulation apparently due in couple of days - I'll be testing using the ovulation microscope (to see if it's any good) and some cheapie opks - hopefully the two combined mind give me some idea! 14 days of Af is enough to drive me batty! She'll be due again in a week at this rate! x

Hi been lurking a while but thought I'd join the convo. We are ttc #1 cycle. Currently 6dpo and like the OP decided to test today which was obviously negative! Would be very surprised if it happened that quick although my dh would think he was the bees knees!!

Hellooo everyone - thought I'd do a quick update on the "ovulation microscope" for those interested! I've been testing for last 3 days (Af finally got lost after 2 long weeks) and today I finally saw full "ferning" - basically a rather pretty fern leaf type crytal structure in my spit! Nice! That means the hormones that trigger ovulation are getting going so I should ovulate in next 48-72 hours. Will do a opk then to confirm. Would be fascinating if this microscope thing is actually accurate as would be handy for telling you that you will ovulate "soon" which is worth knowing :) It's a very easy to use device, quick-ish to see results and easy to clean (you could actually use Any microscope you have - just use a clean slide) anyway, will update on opk results in a few days! Fx everyone! X

Hi drgee that's great AF is finally over for you and even better that the microscope is working for you! That would make you in your fertile window now?
I've had another low fertility on my cb opk but still some ewcm so just continuing to dtd every night as I really don't want to miss my fertile window. Could buy some cheap opk's but it would not really work for me to test other than in the mornings due to work set up.

So me and DH have just moved into our new house so I have missed a lot that's been going on here.

Hope everyone's having fun TTC.
Sounds like a few people are coming up to their fertile window so FX for you guys!

As for me I have no idea where I stand with my cycle. I came off the pill on the 23rd of June and my Withdrawl bleed finished on 29th. Me and DH DTD on 30th then 31st I had what looked like EWCM? So I'm kind of in tww I'm not sure. I haven't noticed any ovulation signs since 31st. Trying to resist testing OPK and don't know whether I should POAS in a few days...? Aaaah I just want to know what my bodies doing!

Anyone in their 2WW yet? I'm 1dpo so it's going to be a long 2ww.
Do you think it matters if we didn't dtd when I got the +opk? We had dtd at least once, if not twice (poor hubby) a day for a three days in a row before +opk. I guess I'll have to wait and see.
I didn't have an cm that I noticed this month and when I come to think about it, I think it happens quite infrequently so I have decided (in my unprofessional opinion of course) that perhaps I ovulate only every other month, despite the +opk.

DH and I have given ourselves the go ahead: we are officially TTC! I'm just on the tail end of AF at the moment and not wanting to put too much pressure on myself or be obsessed with the biology just yet so think for the first few months we're just going to have fun and see what happens... if after Christmas we've not been lucky, I might start looking into OPKs and possibly temping but for now... just going to see what happens.

I'm 26, DH is 35 and we got married earlier this year. We were going to wait until our belated honeymoon in October to start TTC but I was late on my period this month meaning it looks like AF will make an unwelcome appearance for most of our honeymoon so we figured we may as well just start trying now!

My period tracking app says I'm due to ovulate in a couple of weeks time (my periods are not exactly regular though and my cycle is usually around 32 days) so I guess we'll see what happens... It's been lovely to read on here other people's experiences though and I'm preparing myself for the journey to come!

Always - I'm in (what feels like the longest) 2ww now - 8dpo. We dtd every other day leading up to ov whilst I was getting highs from cbfm, and first peak day, but not second (so I was obvs distraught about not dtd on second peak...)

Panda / E11 / Layla - yep, starting at 6dpo was an error but it was never going to be any other way cos I can't help myself!! Emzlou - hold off as long as you can....????

I am now of course obsessing over every little twinge and whether it means anything....this is all very draining ????, so agreed with Layla - some bfps would be amazing!

Ahh reecespieces, you make me VERY nervous for what I have to come. I think I'm going to be terrible (as in, I'll be over-actively) symptom spotting. Why is it that sometimes the things you want most are the hardest things to achieve? I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you... How many dpo do people usually wait before testing? Do you always wait to see if you're late for dreaded AF?

(I'm getting used to all the lingo now!)

reeses I was the same - I tested early last month too! First month and was already obsessed!
My aim is to not test this month until AF is late but then because I'm a bit irregular I think that makes it more difficult.
So some of us in 2ww and some fertile window/coming up to fertile window! Eek! Good luck to u all!
I am going to have to buy more cb opk's - think I started testing too early but was thrown off with the what I thought was ewcm- think I am a bit off my fertile window yet :(
Would love to be successful this month- altho I know it's only my 2nd month trying and there is a high chance it will take longer, I just can't help but get my hopes up -a May baby would be lovely!

I know Layla, it's so hard not to think that, find myself thinking that all the time then have to try and rein myself in and remember that it's only the first month!!

I never really know about ewcm, I seem to get it on and off throughout my cycle.

I haven't been so good at keeping up this month as we missed ovulation because OH was away. As a result I've been thinking about babies less and it's actually been quite relaxing.

I have had a bit of an odd cycle though- I used OPK to confirm ovulation. I was hoping it would come much later when OH was home but it didn't and instead came bang on time just as app predicted. My period is now 4 days late though. I'm starting to get cramps which means it is likely AF will come tomorrow. The delay in AF starting means that my app is changing the day I ovulated to later even though I know it was right in the first place. Any ideas what's going on?

Alpha - in my various googling I came across some stuff that said you can hv more than one LH surge in a month, so get +opk but then actually ovulate later...? Don't know how true that is tho.

Laylaloo I don't think I've had any symptoms & I don't think I'm truly pregnant it's just the not knowing what your bodies doing. I would like to see clear ovulation signs, every time I've done an OPK (throughout the month) it's come up negative. Think this month might be a bust! If I did ovulate back then I would be 13 DPO. Tempted to test anyway as its my birthday today.
