So, after 9 years together me and dh have decided to start trying. Last AF ended 29th June, I should be ovulating any day now. Very new to all this ttc malarkey so no idea what we're doing really!

I'm already making myself worry about a BFN in a couple of weeks. Didn't think I was that broody but it's all I can think about! Anybody else feeling/felt the same??

Xx

Hi everyone, I'm new too! I came off the pill a few months ago and got regular periods pretty much straight away. This was the first month that I actively thought about when I was ovulating and tried to make sure we were having sex then. I'm using the Glow app. At the minute I've got what feel like ovulation twinges. I'm 10 days past ovulation, so think they are probably PMT, but there's a little part of me hoping it's implantation cramps. Not telling anyone in the real world (except for partner, obvs!) that we're trying, so spending all my time on web forums! Smile

busybusy123 · 29/07/2015 22:26

Hi all, another newbie here, hope that's ok.

I'm 35 and trying for #1.

Thought I was getting some symptoms after my last cycle and tested negative closely followed by confirmation by nature.

I'm interested to read about the different apps, I've been using Ovia and also had issues with my window moving as my OH works away a lot and I've been trying to get him to work his schedule around it, difficult to conceive if we don't do it!

Have been wondering if I should try an ovulation test to get a better idea, anyone had any success with this?

Would love to not worry about it but feel like I'm old and worried I've left it late.

Mermaid36 · 30/07/2015 07:32

busy now I've had my first AF, my Ovia app seems to be a bit better. I do have OPKs just to back it up this next month (you can enter that data into Ovia too).

I'm the same age as you, and I was worried we'd left it too late, but a couple of friends are now pregnant at 38 and 42, so there's definitely hope!

reesespieces · 30/07/2015 09:04

Glad it wasn't just me who found ttc dtd a bit weird! Busy, I've started using the Ovia app too as well as glow just to confuse myself a bit, ha! I like the info and tips on Ovia but think glow is better for logging for me cos I can put low, high or peak for cbfm rather than just positive or negative.

Glad I'm using cbfm re: ovulation too as the whole ewcm / cm thing confuses me a bit as I seem not to always follow when I should be getting each type.

Not sure whether we should be dtd every day of my fertile phase or every other day either...could get tiring as since coming off the pill I seem to be tired all the time!

Emzlou15 · 30/07/2015 11:25

Hi to all the new people!

I ordered some pregnancy tests through from Amazon and they've just arrived on cycle day 1. I will be testing at cycle day 30 every month unless I get AF as I don't know when my periods will start after coming off the pill. So I'm going to avoid the apps and ovulation kits for a while and try to stay calm about things. Looking forward to my body off the pill as I had been taking it for 4 1/2 years and felt it changed me a lot. FX for the future!

Laylaloo20 · 30/07/2015 17:33

Hi everyone including newbies :)
Just catching up on all the chat!
Fx that it was implantation bleeding e11chick!
I'm still waiting on AF...PMS is in full force but I do seem to get bad cramping etc for a good while before AF arrives.
Busy, I'm using clear blue ovulation kit- the one that detects hormones too so gives u high fertility days on lead up to peak fertility. I would definitely recommend as it's helped me pin point my fertile window more accurately this month as I seem to ovulate earlier in my cycle.

I was thinking of getting a thermometer now too to confirm ovulation... Although at the same time I'm trying not to get myself too stressed out about ttc...hmm anyone monitoring their bbt?
I agree with all of u with it feeling a bit strange dtd when ttc...its so lovely knowing that both DH and I are ready to try for a baby but at the same time we have had a laugh at the occasional awkwardness of dtd daily at my fertile window!! Very difficult trying to make it all casual when you know the main mission is to get an egg fertilised haha!

Sunshinegirl2015 · 30/07/2015 18:12

Hey everyone - fairly new to this.

Here's my experience so far:

Came off microgynon 30 at new year after 10 years on it. Didn't feel any different when I came off it other than my periods have gone from 4days to 6days. Originally went on it to stop painful periods. Of seven cycles, only two have been painful although one of them ended up with me in A&E it was so bad.

26yrs old.

I went to GP when we decided to try to get it on record that we're TTC just so if there is a problem, they know how long we've been trying.

With dh for almost 10yrs.

TTC no.1

After coming off the pill we waited to start ttc until I'd had one natural period. That took 42 days! I'd never been more glad to see AF that month as it meant we could start trying.

I use the app p.tracker which has been good at predicting when AF will arrive.

This is my 6th month ttc and the 2nd month using OPKs. Last month AF arrived 10days after I reached peak fertility on opk meaning it was a short luteal phase. I'm hoping that was a one off and this month will be ok if I don't get my BFP.

Ive also learnt that symptom spotting in the TWW is hard to avoid. I find myself overthinking everything and wondering I if every little twinge could be so wing. FX it will be this month!

Good luck everyone! Xx

Laylaloo20 · 30/07/2015 18:30

Hi sunshine girl! I'm the same- stopped my pill in jan too! I logged when I was getting my period from then and started at 27 to the longest cycle last month of 37 days! Started using ovia in June which is really helpful I think although it does change the fertile window a lot I do believe this will become more accurate after using it for a few months!
Good luck on a bfp!
I think AF has just started... Brown spotting and so this cycle will be 31 days if this is AF. hoping my cycle lengths will become more regular over time. I am same with symptom spotting... Is it crazy that I have a slight thought in my head that maybe clear blue ovulation was wrong... Maybe I ovulated later and maybe this is implantation bleeding... Ye right!!! To be fair I never start my period with brown spotting on wiping... Normally horrendous cramping then it come in full force for a couple days then onto spotting... But I am just wishful thinking! Sharing this crazy thought on here as DH would think I was mad if he heard this!!
How's everyone else getting on? Anyone due to test soon?

Sunshinegirl2015 · 30/07/2015 19:21

Laylaloo hello!

I had spotting last month for the first time ever and honestly believed it was implantation (it wasn't Sad) but I'm not down about it as I know it'll happen when the time is right. Good luck for you though I hope it is a good sign!

I think my DH symptom spots more than me!! Makes it harder for me when I'm trying not to but love that he's so in to this. Using an app to track cycles though is pretty helpful.

Laylaloo20 · 30/07/2015 19:35

I am sure it's just my period coming on... It wouldn't make sense for it to be implantation bleeding! I'm just being crazy!
Feeling happy AF is hopefully starting so can get ttc again soon!

Sophia1984 · 30/07/2015 22:58

Does anyone know how long implantation pains go on for? I'm 10-12 days past ovulation and am getting twinges in one of my ovaries. They don't last for long but have been coming and going for a couple of days. I don't normally get this sort of pain with PMT (normally more like dull cramps). This feels more like ovulation pain, but it's too late for that. What do you reckon is going on?

bananafone5 · 31/07/2015 00:03

Hello everyone, another newbie here. Husband and I are both around 30, together for over six years. Life started getting a little bit less stable this year, with family and job changes, but weirdly that was what made us feel ready - you kind of realise there's never going to be an ideal time! We've always known we wanted kids and would also like our own parents to be youngish grandparents, so we thought we'd give it a go Grin

I haven't been on the pill for three years, and have a very regular cycle. I'm going to try and wait a couple of months before I try any temperature taking, etc, though it's hard to resist as I love that kind of thing!

Downloaded Ovia after reading this thread and it says I have 8 days before I can test, though this is the first month we've TTC so I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much! Can't stop reading books/apps/websites about pregnancy and babies though...

lilygirl81 · 31/07/2015 09:46

Sorry to have been away, welcome newbies.

My leg got really bad on Wednesday evening and I've not been able to move much since. I tried telling DH that I wasn't too bad, but he saw through it so didn't get to dtd again. Don't think we have done enough to catch it this month, but it is just cycle 1.

I'd ordered some opk, delivered to my office as I tend to deal with the mail. Fingers crossed my boss hasn't opened it by mistake!

SharyBobbins · 31/07/2015 21:58

Hi there, I'm new here too! It's been really helpful to read all these posts. We've been ttc for 4 cycles now (about 7 calendar months as my cycle is 43 days long). Used the clearblue ovulation tests which display low, high and peak fertility. Found these really helpful but still didn't conceive. Panic bought the clearblue digital monitor (the bit of kit which costs over £100) but regretting it already. It says it's suitable for cycles 21-42 days long (didn't know this at the time) and for the second month in a row it's telling me to start testing on cycle day 6 when I know nothing gets moving 'downstairs' until at least day 20+!! I'm toying with the idea of using both the ovulation tests and digital monitor this cycle but it means spending £40+ a month on sticks! ttc really is a minefield...

Mermaid36 · 31/07/2015 22:24

Shary you can buy cheaper OPKs etc online, rather than the expensive ones...I've just bought a load of OPKs for about £3 - they are just the strips to pee on, like you might get at the Drs.

SharyBobbins · 31/07/2015 22:51

Thanks Mermaid! Are they quite easy to read? (I'm assuming they show lines rather than Smile Sad faces like the CB ones!). Can't believe the price difference!

Mermaid36 · 31/07/2015 23:00

Yeah, they are lines like a preg test...I'll see if I can find the link for the website

custarddots · 01/08/2015 21:40

Hi all.

You've been in my thoughts as we start this new month. So I thought I'd stick my head in and wish you all the best.

Best wishes for some August BFPs!!

xx

Mermaid36 · 01/08/2015 22:06

Ladies - when are we all due ovulation/fertile windows?

Mine is 2nd week in August allegedly.... have pre-warned DH! I've got OPKs this month to see if I'm actually ovulating...

Went to see my bestie today, and she is saving all her baby stuff for us - cribs, play mats, jumparoo and tons of neutral newborn stuff. If we have a boy, we'll never need to buy clothes!

LucieLu84 · 02/08/2015 00:17

Hi all,
I'm new and this is my first eve posting. Been reading lots of posts this eve as I'm TTC and think I may have had IB. Cycles are not regular which has been frustrating. Averaging 36 days. Had spotting CD22 very briefly. Had it again today CD32, started brownish discharge, have now had some blood but only when wiping. Have never had this. Felt a bit nauseous last week and very tired, but been very stressed at work so don't want to get hopes up. AF due around thurs next week based on average cycle length last few months. Trying to avoid testing until after thurs as so want a positive. Fingers crossed for August BFPs!

SharyBobbins · 02/08/2015 09:58

Sorry you can tell I'm a newby! What does BFP mean? I need to get to grips with all these abbreviations!

Mermaid- I've ordered a loads of ovulation tests (OPK's?!) so thanks again!

LucieLu84 · 02/08/2015 10:00

Getting my head round them, this should help : www.mumsnet.com/info/acronyms

BFP = Big Fat Positive :)

reesespieces · 02/08/2015 18:28

Hello all, hope everyone's having good wknds!

Mermaid - I think I'm in my fertile window now, have had six days of high readings on cbfm so hoping to get a peak soon (hv had eight high days before two peaks previously) and then for all this dtd to pay off ????????!

SharyBobbins · 02/08/2015 18:35

Hi reesepieces, do you mind me asking about your experiences of the CBFM? How long have you been using it for?
I've got the advanced monitor but not impressed with it so far, possibly because I don't fall in the 21-42 cycle so its not really working for me!

Hope your right about being in your fertile window, good luck!

reesespieces · 02/08/2015 18:55

Hi Shary - thanks, me too!

Course not - started using it at the end of May. I like it, has helped me to understand my cycle better so far so am starting to work out / recognise what types of twinges I get at various points in my cycle for e.g. So far has also shown that my cycle (and when I ovulate) changes a bit month to month. As I mentioned, I hv had eight high days then two peaks before, but hv also had three high days then two peaks - so don't think I could guess fertile period from cycle days and CM alone....Also don't think I trust myself to read ov sticks properly (!) so takes stress out of that...

Am also hoping it means will get bfp quicker!!
