Sounds like this cycle is more positive for you Hula Smile Fingers crossed!
Positive opk today...dtd last night and will tonight and tomorrow. Then hope for the best. When do I start the pred? I'm temping so should I wait to see a temp spike?

Sorry Sunny... Hit send before finishing....
Glad everything is going well for you, it must seem really surreal. Glad that the consultants are scanning you more, should help keep you're mind at ease. Keep us updated with how everything goes. Will you find out the sex of the baby at 20wk scan?

Hula I've got everything crossed for you! All sounding very positive! Now get the action in :) We're in a similar position as I'm also very blessed to already have a little one (I have a DS who is 2 and a half) - and desperate for a sibling for her. And considered 'older' (much older than you at nearly 43!)..! So never give up!

Wow Sunny you are well on the way - will you find out if a girl or boy? Good you are having the extra scans and support. I saw my doc and she was sooo unsupportive and unhelpful I couldn't believe it, had never heard of NK cells and thought I was talking crazy and when I showed her my prescription for all the stuff I am meant to be taking now pregnant she was all shocked and acted like I had been to see some crazy doctor! Was so annoyed (Dr S office hadn't sent them anything to explain what was going on or my treatment so she was a bit in the dark and if she'd never heard of it all I guess she would be wary of all these drugs while pregnant)... but it just annoyed me as the NHS refused my referral to st mary's after 3 MCs because of my age. And are now criticising the treatment I have found and paid for myself and the only thing that is giving me faith that it might actually work this time.

Seeking - I don't know what to say about when to start taking preds, have never done the temp thing, I'm lucky as kind of know (think I know) when I ovulate as get a crazy crampy pain at the same time roughly every month. I started relying on that more than OPKs recently.

In fact, the 2 times I got pregnant using OPKs it took a few months. We didn't really dtd lots until I had weed on a stick and got the go ahead! And it always took a few months for me to get PG. Then I got even more obsessed in my 'getting pregnant' research and kept reading about how long the sperm can survive and how they can happily just hang out waiting for the egg so became obsessed with having a load in there ready for when I ovulated (this is probably so obvious to everyone else but to me it was a revelation!). And in all the months where we just dtd every other day from the day after my period ended, way before apparent ovulation I got pregnant so much more quickly (pretty much every time - at 42 as well). So am just putting it out there - get the action in for a good few days before that egg pops out if you can and then from then onwards too of course. I think we wasted about a year waiting to dtd on when the opk said to do so. It did work that way too but took longer... Maybe my other half has sperm that just like to chill out in the cervix for ages, everyone is different, but on the off chance anyone is just waiting on OPKs and then going mad DTD, get some extra action in beforehand it might help loads!

Sorry if I am stating the obvious - I think I am going a bit crazy, don't know if I am coming or going, preds and pregnancy are a bit of a crazy mix. Am at 5 weeks and 2 days today, very early days I know and pretty scared but trying to be positive.

Off to bed soon but probably won't get to sleep til at least 1 or 2 (preds!)!

Anyway sorry to have gone off on one - wrote so much! Just letting it all out - it's therapeutic! I don't know you all as well as new to all this so sorry to just come out with a load of rambling you probably are all thinking 'who is this mad person in our thread'?!

Hope everyone is ok, I will go now ! xx

Don't think we are going to find out - I don't mind if I know or keeping it as a surprise so left it to DH to make decision. First test was at scan on Saturday when dr s asked, he said no so at the moment we are keeping it as a surprise!

I think I will start the pred tomorrow. But nervous to be honest. Don't know why! Lol!

I've said the same thing Sunny... Ultimately when the time comes I think I'll leave the choice with DH. Either way, boy or girl it's a blessing.

Lisa - as trying said just focus on the fact that you're on the right plan, despite the Drs not knowing about it.! It shows a complete ingot nave to completely disregard something they know little about.

Trying - I really hope that next month you get a few more sperm to work with in order to have the tests done. It must be an added worry you could do without. You seem so strong though, keep going, you will get there. Its exciting that your ARGC appointment is just round the corner. I hope they can throw something else at you and get to the end goal. Will keep everything crossed for you. Smile

Evening ladies,

Lisa feel free to unload your thoughts here. It s so hard not to become obsessed with all this and people who have not been through it often don t understand. I m really hoping this is your take home baby and don t worry about the ignorance of gps, i think Rosa had a nightmare with similar comments at nhs appts so just steel yourself to it and personally i d try and avoid the nhs appts till as late as poss and just let mr s get you thru the first trimester. If you were on these meds thru ivf they prob just accept it as i think women are often on a variety of drugs that just way over their heads they don t pass comment.

Seeking i ve temped quite a bit and once you get a signif temp rise (i think it needs to be at least 0.3 of a degree then it means you ve ovulated, my pre ov temps were usually about 36.3 and post ov above 36.6) so i would start the pred on that day or as Trying says two days after the pos opk. Fingers crossed for you, think we ll prob be testing around a similar time.

Sunny so glad things are going well, i think its nice if you can keep it a surprise. We did find out with ds but didn t tell anyone else, does help tho only having to think of one lot of names.

Trying - sorry you re feeling down, its crap you have your dh issues on top of things but hang in there argc do get some impressive results so you re doing everything you can.

Afm - 3 dpo and on pred too, dtd exactly to doctors orders so hoping this works.

I'm not sure...hula u do it as maybe it will bring u luck with those 2 eggs!!

Hope people have nice bank holidays planned...
Ive lost all my ivf and miscarriahe weight and bmi back to 25. Now time to bring it to 24! I refuse to cycle at argc until it's below 24!

2 weeks till appt and then they do a monitoring cycle. Really hoping we can start in October but depends on my tnf (was normal when Shehata did it last year so hope it still is!).

Seeking hope this is ur month xx

I'm back! Bloody hackers.

lisa hope you're doing well, so natural to be nervous but I have a feeling you're going to be a success story just like rosa. And ramble away! Where else could you talk about all the stuff we do here Grin

Wow, I think I got a positive opk. Only been dtd every other day though.

Hi ladies
Finally logged in again!!!!
Hopefully next thread is going to be full of sticky BFP Smile
It was BFN for me last cycle... Was hoping for a better luck this cycle but got shingles (!!!!) so not TTC this month as not feeling the best... Looks like all the pred/intralipids etc lowered my immune system really well after all - would have preferred BFP not be sick with shingles though.... Was told it can take quite a while to get back to normal.... no idea when I will be ok to start pred again...

Report
Tryingno1 · 27/08/2015 19:50

Oh no sorry to hear that swlondonnanny.
Once ur skin looks clear it will ok for u to start again, but u might get it again once ur immune system is lowered again. The shingles virus stays in all our nerves forever and when ur immunity is low it comes back to life! (For some). I hope u don't get it again and sorry for bfn :(

Hello everyone. Posting on here for the first time, for both myself and my wife.

We are on Dr S treatment plan. Now on month 3 and it feels like we are having increased chemical pregnancies

We haven't had issues like this before. Wanted to ask whether the medications on this treatment plan (to take for 10 days after ovulation date) could be causing this? And if so, whether better not to take them during these 10 days and wait for a positive pregnancy test and then start taking.

What would you advise?
