Sorry Really. Even when you are sure you're prepared for disappointment, actually seeing it on the stick always gives you a jolt. You can build yourself up in 2 minutes without fully realising it. I avoid the sticks mostly because that's what happens for me and then I think 'I spent £s to feel like crap when I could have waited on AF and had it for free!' But everyone should do it at least once and it'd seem wrong if when you get your BFP it's the first test you ever did Wink.

Last time I gave in and tested, the witch came the next day. Having said all the above, I will be testing this Sat afternoon if still no sign as a big Wine night is planned. I am expecting AF tomorrow though so don't think it'll come to that. #getonwithitwitch

ReallyNotAMorningPerson · 30/07/2015 21:01

Good reasoning Fridge you're right, I should know what a negative feels like!

I actually did always wonder about that (why POAS when you could find out for free with AF), but because AF is never normally late (even by a day) I got this urge to test this time. Now I've done it I may not bother again unless it's at least 27 days.

I took the inositol to lengthen my cycle though so not sure why I'm complaining now that it seems to have worked! Smile

You're right, I think I must've built myself up in those 2 mins....was so deflated I retreated to duvet (one benefit of no DC), fell promptly asleep and only woke up just now cos DH came home and woke me up.

Might send him to the shop now for Wine!

Fridgedooropen · 31/07/2015 01:08

Knew it. Early hours of CD29 and she finally makes an appearance. Too late for Wine now but I am going to be making the most of cocktails on Sat. Really need to step up on DTD next month too.

FlourishingMrs · 31/07/2015 04:47

Oh I am so sorry ladies, but good news on the lengthened luteal phase. Iam a POAS addict, got Internet cheapies. I find the suspense killing, so getting regular BFN means that I expect the Witch so I am not hurt when she turns up.

I think first response is really clear and more sentive. This month I used a very sensitive test from Lloyds pharmacy. I saw a faint line, temp rise and the next day temp dropped and the which came a day early. I will be enjoying cocktails this weekend.

So sorry Fridge. Me too. Spotting started last night. Not full AF but that will come shortly.

Thanks Flourishing yes on the bright side, at least LP has improved.

I can see how the sticks just let you know.

For me it's almost like I find out too early though. My boobs start to hurt about 5 days after I (think) I'm ovulating. Then they continue to hurt like buggery till the witch shows up on her broomstick about 5 or 6 days later.

So it's not so much a TWW as a very short 5 day period of hope, max, before the dreaded Boob Ache says 'game over'.

I get my blood test results back on Aug 11th, so hoping medical science can at least give me some pointers about what's up with Really Confused.

reni1 · 31/07/2015 23:33

Commiserations on af all round. She's been and gone here, I am drinking beer tonight. Not sure I'll temp this month, it is all too futile. CD1-4 AF and usual left-it-too-late-panic, CD5-7 grand new plans about this month, CD7-13 humping week (ov CD10-12), CD14-20 boring week, CD21-25 waiting and NOT symptom spotting week, CD26 af again. gets another drink

ReallyNotAMorningPerson · 01/08/2015 18:07

Excellent synopsis of TTC reni. Someone needs to make the film now - it'd be a hoot!

FlourishingMrs · 01/08/2015 18:30

Well ladies, CD4 here, temping on ovia, glow, fertility friend. In the hope I like one. Share your preferences.

In the meantime I have spiced up our sex life with a micra swimmers test with microscope. It was such a bonding affair finishing off I in a pot and watching DP swimmers speeding around. All well on the swimmers part.

I am sure a switch from pot to lady garden will make DP keen in fertile week.

Sounds like a fun weekend!!

Grin at lady garden.

reni1 · 02/08/2015 14:37

Flourishing I use ff, I like it, never tried another app though. I can pm you my username on ff so we can snoop on each others charts you have a buddy on there. What would one call the TTC movie, really, Groundhog Month?

ReallyNotAMorningPerson · 02/08/2015 20:43

Groundhog Month is, of course, perfect. A long as we don't have to have Andy MacDowell in it. And who shall we have as our leading man instead of Bill Murray?

ReallyNotAMorningPerson · 02/08/2015 20:47

PS. You two have inspired me, I think I might give FF and temping a go this month. (Reni I know you said you were over temping this month, but it might be good to get a sense of when/if I'm ovulating.)

I quite liked Ovia as it's very user friendly and FF looked a bit complicated, but I'd read it's the best one for charting.

I might be a bit embarrassed to share charts though as then you'd see how infrequent our DTD is Blush.

(Though when I had my little cry about TTC the other day, DH did promise to up his game.)

reni1 · 02/08/2015 21:11

Female lead, somebody fabulously beautiful and clever and 40. The male support would have to be played by an actor who can be a convincing husband yet exciting and who manages to remain sexy whilst popping Wellman conception and squirting onto glass slides for microscopic swimmer investigations. He needs to make it look romantic when he is *ahem supportive during humping week around ovulation. I foresee queues around the block when we are casting.

ReallyNotAMorningPerson · 02/08/2015 21:17

Oooh. Cate Blanchett?

For male lead please can we have Paul Rudd? Not that well known generally in fairly poor romcoms starting Jennifer Aniston, think he was Phoebe's boyfriend in Friends

reni1 · 02/08/2015 21:29

I said I might not be temping, but I am of course so far. Will do til right after ov I think, we might miss it this month, won't be in the same town.

ReallyNotAMorningPerson · 02/08/2015 21:51

I just had to google image Paul Rudd to make sure he's the person I thought he was. Yes, he'll do. Wikipedia says he's 46. Do we want him with or without beard? Or any other contenders?

FlourishingMrs · 03/08/2015 04:09

He looks like he could do, us Daniel Craig too old for the role?

OP posts:
ReallyNotAMorningPerson · 03/08/2015 12:07

Wikipedia puts him at just one year older than Paul Rudd. So plenty of vim and vigour. I'm sure he'd undertake the swimmers test with aplomb!

ReallyNotAMorningPerson · 03/08/2015 12:11

N.B. I'm just about to pop to pharmacy to purchase a thermometer. Ticks the 'feels like I'm doing something' box.

Lndnmummy · 03/08/2015 12:35

Can I join please? 37, 7th month of trying, hycosy app on the 8th and feeling very blue

ReallyNotAMorningPerson · 03/08/2015 12:51

Lndnmummy welcome. Just in time to help us cast for our TTC film, Groundhog Month.

We're a silly but supportive bunch as you can see, holding onto our sanity by the skins of our teeth.

Do you have any DC already or trying for your first?

ReallyNotAMorningPerson · 03/08/2015 12:52

Oops just noticed your username, guessing you have DC already! Blush

FlourishingMrs · 03/08/2015 22:37

Welcome Lndmummy, it's a pleasure to welcome you on board. How is your CM this week?

We are looking forward to our new movie

reni1 · 04/08/2015 19:02

Welcome Lndnmummy, I have lots of downers too, usually around AF. Tend to feel a bit better round ov usually.

ReallyNotAMorningPerson · 05/08/2015 09:37

Morning all. I'm (finally) going thermometer shopping today.

Reni as our resident science bod, do I need a certain kind of thermometer (are there different kinds?).

Assuming the types attached to a wooden plate with painted scenes of Majorca on it won't do.
