Ladies, Fred title says it all; we are the ones who shag as much as our men can cope with in order to get upduffed without the stress of scientific whatnots!

Fred rules (copied and adapted from previous Fred)

  1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
  2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
  3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
  4. Thou shalt share with your fredmates where needed.

JSing lingo

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others. Also know as 'the witch', 'bitch witch' and 'that one with the red shiny convertible'

Viroid = This is you, dear poster. This is from the first JS thread when someone tried to type 'ladies' and it autocorrected to 'Viroids' - so there you go!

Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.

Doing a kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce envy in other posters).

POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit). Or PIATLH (Tea light holder) PIAWG (Wine glass) or anything else you care to pee in! PONF = Pee on Nigel Farage. Self explanatory, who wouldn't?

ROC - Receptacle of Choice - what one chooses to use for the task of POAS. Optional decorations include photographs of controversial political leaders.

JIAC = Jizz in a Cup. Preferable to jizz on the carpet or jizz in the eye. This one's for the lucky men in our lives.

Shagging like Something = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.

Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into ttc obsession. Warning - this may happen to you if you start trying to POAS at 5dpo. PUT. THE. PISSY. STICK. DOWN. IT'S TOO EARLY!

Contraband (or Cuntraband) = Of COURSE none of us EVER partake of any silly OPKs or temp charting. They are Contraband.

Icing = ovulating. Another autocorrect development!

Getting your Cape on = planning some serious pouncing on DH/DP

SOTM = Shagger of the Month. Awarded with varying regularity to those viroids who go above and beyond EOD shagging in pursuit of that BFP

TWOT - Two Weeks of Torture. AKA Schroedingering!
TWPU - Two Week Piss Up!

Keeping your gingers = fingers crossed, yet another autocorrect development! Shortened to 'gx'

Doing A Lemon = Testing WAAAAAAAY to early!

Miroid - The male compadre of a viroid

Cat - Compulsory

Skittletits - Killer molten painful tits and nipples

A mc does take away a lot of the joy of that BFP, doesn't it? It's no longer about just getting that second line, the moment you see it your next thought is, is this one going to stick this time?

I could not say it any better myself, so just copied another poster's from TTC after mc thread post:

History is really unlikely to repeat itself. Any future pregnancy will feel different, but once you are past when you mc [happened] your confidence in everything working out will grow. You just have to take things one day at a time. Every pregnancy really is unique in every way possible. New womb lining. New little bean made of different things. It's hard to stay hopeful sometimes, but we're human and there always ends up being a little bit of hope even when we are convinced everything is doomed to fail.

I hope this somewhat helps, I personally found this post very inspiring and soothing.

honeysucklejasmine · 06/04/2015 20:42

My sister read this at our wedding, which I loved. It helps. The past is the past!

'Wen considered the nature of time and understood that the universe is, instant by instant, recreated anew. Therefore, he understood, there is in truth no past, only a memory of the past. Blink your eyes, and the world you see next did not exist when you closed them. Therefore, he said, the only appropriate state of the mind is surprise. The only appropriate state of the heart is joy. The sky you see now, you have never seen before. The perfect moment is now. Be glad of it.'

justtheonethen · 06/04/2015 20:46

Those are some lovely posts, very helpful thank you

Just donned my cape even though unwell

lildottie · 06/04/2015 21:04

finally caught up. tbh I'm more scared of not getting pg again than mcing again but I guess that's because of the journey I've been in to even get my first bfp

honeysucklejasmine · 06/04/2015 21:11

I'm with you there Lil. I can't imagine it happening again! Two lines on a hpt? As if!

Stoatystoat · 06/04/2015 21:11

Oh lil, that's rough and very understable

LaLaLaaaa · 06/04/2015 21:15

Hey viroids. Just thought I'd pipe up at this point in case it's helpful, as you sound a bit down and frightened.

Having a mc is devastating and getting pg again afterwards is terrifying, but you have a number of grads who demonstrate that you can go on to have perfectly normal healthy pregnancy following mc. So many of us had mc - cp, natural mc, mmc, you name it. When you get that bfp again (I say when because I am in no doubt that it will happen) yes it's terrifying and yes there's a touch of cloud and bittersweet feeling about it. But you will get to that point where you mc last time and celebrate reaching that point, then every further milestone. I envy folk who have a normal pg without having experienced mc because I wasn't able to relax at all those first 12 weeks. But I can say now that I finally believe it and I'm able to get excited and look forward. It's natural to be afraid of it happening again, but you have to remember it's out of your hands. mc are sadly so common, but chances of mc happening multiple times to same person - not so high.

I really hope you guys have had your quota and get to go on and have a bfp and healthy normal pg following that. Gx for you and remember we are here if you need us to reassure you and remind you of our positive stories following mc.

jellypi3 · 06/04/2015 21:35

Well said la. I've not had a MC so can only relate so far with you viroids who have but I know you are all strong and can't wait for you all to get your sticky beans :) remember PMA

just are you looking for cinema or dvd/sky?

Doesn't seem to be much on at the cinema.
Edge of tomorrow (mmmm tom cruise...rubs thighs creepily), divergent, hunger games, Intetstellar and horns are worth a look. But do not bother with horrible bosses 2

bellybuttonfluffy · 06/04/2015 21:46

Wondering if I could ask a few questions to those who have been trying.

Do you POAS every month or only when you have symptoms/ are late?
Do people in RL know you are trying? Or have you kept it quite hush/hush?
Is life just going on as usual until the positive test e.g. still drinking alcohol?
Are pre-natal vitamins a must? Even before the positive test?

Thanks all Smile

bellybuttonfluffy · 06/04/2015 21:49

As for good film recommendations- Lars and the Real Girl
Very much not a new film (2007) but a Ryan Gosling one. I only seen it first time last year and rewatched it again last week and love it Smile

I've been talking about it to lots of people who haven't ever heard of it, so possibly one you've not already seen?

justtheonethen · 06/04/2015 21:56

Haven't seen interstellar or Lars and the real girl. Might go for one of them. Thanks!

As for your q's fluffy we only poas when we are late although sometimes we break early
I have one friend in RL who is also trying who I talk to, but haven't told anyone else.
I personally drink alcohol in the 2ww but try not to go nuts just in case
You should take folic acid from now

bellybuttonfluffy · 06/04/2015 22:03

Thanks for your answers Just. The little things that are good to know Smile

maemay · 06/04/2015 22:06

Fluffy, I was recommended to get going on the Folic Acid as soon as you start ttc (or 3 months before!) But it's not the end of the world if you don't take them in advance. A friend got preg with out trying and so hadn't been taking any vits or avoiding wine etc, and the kid was fine.

Also, I'm going with the theory that if there's a chance I could be preg I'm not going to drink alcohol. So when AF is here, I'm enjoying a couple of glasses of vino, but in the TWOT am avoiding it just in case.
But I think everyone does different things.

It seems like viroids are POASing every 5 mins (but then maybe it's just that there are a lot of us on this fred!)
I'm going to try and be patient and only POAS if AF is late. But then this is only my first cycle of ttc, so after a few cycles of not getting upduffed I'll probably be more desperate to find out if I might be pg and POAS before then.
But again, everyone does different things, so just do what you fancy, and what is right for you.
And the most important piece of advice (if a semi-newbie like me is qualified to give any!!) - just shag! LOTS!
If you know your cycles well and can tell when you ice then that's great - concentrate the shagging around your fertile window. But if you have no idea when you're likely to ice, just shag lots -the idea being that you should have managed to shag enough around the time when you ice even if you don't know when it is!
There's a reason that this is the JSing fred!!

Good luck! Smile
(PS. what cycle day are you on at the mo?)

honeysucklejasmine · 06/04/2015 22:07

La, you are a sweetheart. Xx

The questions:
Do you POAS every month or only when you have symptoms/ are late?

Only when late or at least I try

Do people in RL know you are trying? Or have you kept it quite hush/hush?

Yes because of mc. I need the support.

Is life just going on as usual until the positive test e.g. still drinking alcohol?

Yes, otherwise it'd make me more miserable.

Are pre-natal vitamins a must? Even before the positive test?

I take folic acid between icing and AF.
