For those of us who prefer a bit of scenery along the way and can't keep up with the MEGA-BUS!

Coffee thanks for the heads-up.

I've been using soy milk in my tea, because I can't have lactose and LactoFree milk is more expensive than Soy... Having now had a quick look at what the internet says about Soy and TTC I think I will be finding the extra few pence for the LactoFree and cutting out the Soy milk.

BananaRaces · 01/04/2015 12:05

Sorry, I should have said - from what I read it looks as though Soy is bad for fertility when taken in large doses. A small amount shouldn't do much. But I'd rather be safe than sorry I think. Smile

coffeenut · 01/04/2015 12:19

thanks everyone for the info about soy. I think I may cut it out (although I mostly drink it in hot drinks, so not sure how I'll go with the taste of almond milk Confused). I cut dairy a few years ago as both DDs were intolerant while I was breastfeeding and my skin cleared dramatically when I avoided it! Hmm.

trixie glad the dietary changes have gone well. The other thing that keeps cropping up in my TTC dietary type research is to lower sugar intake, urgh. So I may have to join you with the boiled eggs and other low GI loveliness.

So no coffee, sugar, wine, soy .... I am going to be a JOY to live with Easter Grin.

Where has Abi and her tesco delivery gone?! Aaaaabiiiiiii .....!

Also, just tried to catch up on the mega bus, what has gone on there? Easter Sad

nightandthelight · 01/04/2015 12:26

Nooo don't make me give up sugar coffee :( I know that I should cut down but it's so hard!

Any tips from successful people?

coffeenut · 01/04/2015 12:30

maybe we'll start after easter night Easter Wink

purple I meant to say before - that looks like a good chart! Temp still rising?? Are you waiting to test?

MissMrsMummy · 01/04/2015 12:32

When I got my bfp last cycle this is what I was doing:

Less sugar
No caffeine
Less dairy
No alcohol
EPO 3x a day
B complex 2x a day
Boots conception support his and hers (my GP just said those are the recommended ones)

Actually it only took a few days to get used to less sugar. I used to be a sugar monster but I didn't feel like I needed it after a while. Still had a bit of chocolate or something each day but avoided it all other times.

Continuing with this plan this month! Onwards and upwards Smile

TrixieRay · 01/04/2015 12:45

I never used to have a sweet tooth but have really developed one in the last few years.

To get my chocolate hit I bought some of those chocolate sprinkles you get for cup cakes - put a few of those in my greek yogurt and don't feel too guilty. Oh and a tiny bit of apricot jam in my porridge.

Wine is the hard one for me as I love a few glasses at the weekend!

TrixieRay · 01/04/2015 12:46

Oh, and I've never been one for caffeine anyway but there are some brilliant fruit teas out there. I love the pukka ones.

nightandthelight · 01/04/2015 12:46

Yeah no point starting before then coffee!

Thanks for the info miss. I am wary of taking epo (even though I worry that I don't have enough CM) as you have to stop it once you ovulate and I have no idea when I ov! I am not drinking alcohol or tea and coffee though so that's good :)

coffeenut · 01/04/2015 12:59

I meant to pick up some fish oil capsules as they are the other thing highly recommended.

Fruit teas taste like someone's accidentally left their socks in my boiled water trixie. I have a low sugar diet normally, but I seem to use it to replace the caffeine and alcohol when I cut them out - it's my treat IYSWIM. I'm completely against artificial sweetener too.

tessiegirl · 01/04/2015 13:21

Hello all!!

Sorry DizzyMerry you asked on the other bus if I also use opks as well as temping and yes I do!! Still no crosshairs on ff..... Sad

Trixie I really hope AF stays away....

Glad you are feeling better today Juggling

Mistletoe welcome!!

I have never tried a fruit tea...maybe I will get a pack of the Pukka ones to try...never knew all that about soy either....

MissMrsMummy · 01/04/2015 13:28

Agree with trixie the pukka teas are great! as are tea pigs!

night you are right about EPO! I forgot to mention I only take it up to ov but I use opks (and am temping as well this month) so I can pinpoint when to stop. Maybe you could just take it while you have AF?

MalibuDaisy · 01/04/2015 14:27

Thanks for the new bus. I haven't posted on here since the start of the old thread - I never feel like I have much to contribute until AF is almost due (a week away now) - that's when I really start to feel like someone who is TTC, if that makes sense! Just reading the comments about soy milk with interest - I'd never heard that before. I have it every morning with my breakfast (I'm a recovered bulimic but for some reason milk still makes me sick) - perhaps I should move over to rice milk. I find almond milk disgusting. That said, the wine I drink four nights a week is probably worse for me than a daily intake of half a cup of soy!

MissMrsMummy · 01/04/2015 14:46

Hi Malibu Nice to hear from you. I'm sure you do have valuable things to contribute :-) I know what you mean though, the first part of the cycle I always feel a bit useless, like I can't do anything pro-active, so I always do work/hobby things to distract me!

I have tried rice milk in the past - it's ok

Woolly84 · 01/04/2015 15:10

Afternoon all - interesting food chat going on here! It's one bit of TTC I hadn't done much research into so trying to absorb some knowledge from you lot! Smile
I considered cutting out coffee completely but need my one cup in the morning to get me started! It's tricky isn't it when it comes to making changes to maximise your chances of conception, at the same time you've got to continue living your life relatively normally!

Ooo just discovered the Easter emojis too Easter Smile

Woolly84 · 01/04/2015 15:12

Oh and know what you mean malibu and missmrs, I'm feeling a bit useless too here on CD3! Easter Hmm

MissMrsMummy · 01/04/2015 15:15

One cup would be fine, woolly You are even allowed that when pg so it must be ok!

Cd4 here... we should be glad of the break from DTD as we will be sick of it again in a week or so!

OP posts:
Woolly84 · 01/04/2015 15:19

Hehe true missmrs! Got a very busy time coming up at work so TTC this month may be rather unromantic....bish bash bosh, and sleep! Easter Grin
Arguably I may only be on CD2 still as AF was sooo slow to get going properly!

alpal1989 · 01/04/2015 15:29

Hi there all, been reading all your posts. Am a newbie on here and wanted to join this thread. Below are my stats.

####Stats####
alpal1989 age 26, ttc#1, cycle 1, hoping for bfp 10th April

In the mean time I am still new to this so taking in everything everyone is saying :)

xx

MissMrsMummy · 01/04/2015 15:31

woolly don't forget the important bit - bish, bash, bosh, PEE and sleep! We don't want any UTIs!

Welcome alpal hope we can help in some way Smile

OP posts:
MalibuDaisy · 01/04/2015 15:37

Yes MissMrs and Woolly that's it exactly - it's only my second month TTC but I felt pretty far removed from the whole experience for some weeks after AF showed up. Only just crawling back out of the woodwork now! And I hear you re. living versus living for fertility. I decided that this cycle I would cut my wine days down to three a week. Marvellous in theory, but in practice I just over-thought it, stressed myself out and ended up having a whole week where I drank every day. Bah!

Woolly84 · 01/04/2015 15:38

Ooo good point missmrs! Though not standing up too quickly and letting any soldiers escape!

Hi alpal Smile I've learnt a lot on the buses so you're in good hands!

MissMrsMummy · 01/04/2015 15:40

Haha woolly good point! SO it's...

Bish, bash, bosh, pause, pee, sleep! Hope we get them in the right order Confused

Southy84 · 01/04/2015 15:41

abi I just saw a tesco delivery van and It reminded me of you, Have you had your delivery yet? :)

Welcome mistletoe and alpal

Hi malibu good to see you, I certainly don't think any early cycle ladies should feel useless, I learn a lot from all of you :)

I think I may need to overhaul my diet, didn't realise so many things can have an impact on ttc. Currently sat with lower back ache Sad trying not to sympton spot as have these symptoms pre-AF so that's probably what it is... Sigh...

MissMrsMummy · 01/04/2015 15:44

Yes, where is abi?! Hopefully running around somewhere screaming 'BFPPPPPPP' Easter Grin

southy didn't want to make you paranoid re: diet! I'm sure many people conceive without a second thought about what they are eating/drinking but at my stage (cycle 15) I'm prepared to take drastic measures! Including no prosecco! Easter Hmm
