Oh, I love it when gorgeous, clever lurking opticians come and save my life! Thank you so much, Butterchunks, for all that info. I will do exactly as you advise and go to my (little independent) optician today. They give a wonderful service, however, what I didn't realise when I bought my (varifocal, sorry) glasses was that they didn't offer a 'no quibble' returns policy if you didn't like them. I don't know what possessed me to buy these horrible. Deirdre Barlows the price but I've detested them since day one. They're clunky and the baby is forever ripping them off my face and launching them accross the room (see? The egg donor was deffo a Russian shotputter).

I can't thank you enough, Butterchunks, for coming to advise me on all this. I'm chuffed to bits. Had I taken the advice of these well-meaning but useless bints I would be walking around with a B&Q bathroom door hinge on my gigs or else elastic bands welding them to my skull Won't you come out of the shadows and ride along with us on this 'ere buzz? I hope so
