Right ladies, I need all of your help, advice and expertise :)
First of all, massive apologies in advance for the me, me, me post. I haven't read back, and missed half the old bus and the start of this one as I have been glued to my kitchen table marking coursework for the last two nights, so condolences to those got by the witch, huge congrats to the BFPs (Giddy I saw yours and I am over the moon for you, my lovely!) and a general high fives and kisses to everyone else.
Here goes:
I had my first consultation with the hospital today, as I've been off the pill since November and had no AF. I am soooo tired today and my mind has been a bit blown with all of the stuff that the lady said.
She wanted to make very sure that my DH and I were definitely TTC, as the treatment would have been different if not. I had an internal looksee and she pressed on my stomach a few times. Everything OK there.
I have a list of things that I need to do (she wrote it down for me!)
- I have to take a HPT (just in case). It will be BFN, (The last one I did was Saturday) but I'll do it anyway.
- I have to call my GP to get a blood test for Rubella immunity. I don't think that this is particularly for the lack of AF; I think she said it was routine for people that are TTC.
- DH has to go to the GP for a sperm test. (Again, this is for the TTC thing)
- She wrote this as number 4: 'Wait and see and continue TTC'
If it gets to 3 months and there is no AF, they will give me Norethisterone again to induce a bleed and do the Day 21 and Day 28 blood tests to see if I am ovulating.
In the meantime, she is going to arrange a Hysterosalpingogram to check my fallopian tubes and an ultrasound to check my ovaries.
Ok, my question is this: Surely I can't keep TTC, as, when I do have the Hysterowhatjamacallit, it will flush out anything that might have implanted? I only thought about this when I got home... I asked one of my friends, who had IVF recently and so has had the Hysterflushyourtubesoutogram and she said that they only do it after a period, or, for women who have irregular periods or do not ovulate, they need to use contraception for 6 weeks beforehand.
Surely I have been given the wrong advice then, and shouldn't be TTC at all if I am waiting for this hystericalsquirtsomeliquidupmyfluteogram?
Anyone?! Thanks ladies, and sorry again for the huge post.
