Oh, fromwest I am so so sorry. Life is sometimes so cruel and unfair Sad Hope you are getting lots of support.
Have they discussed with you what happens next? How many mcs have you had - it might be worth asking if they can do the tests to find out what's the cause.
It's just sh** to be in this situation. Hope you're OK (well, as OK as you can be in this situation Flowers) xxx

fromwesttoeast · 17/04/2015 11:46

Thanks Cloud. This is my third in a row, but I'm not interested in tests. I'm convinced it's just plain old chromosomal abnormalities causing the mc. After all I hang on to the pg quite well, long past the point it stops developing. So the problem can't be something like low progesterone or my body rejecting or not supporting the pg, can it? It's just age isn't it. I just need to catch a healthy egg.
I've booked myself in for medical management in hospital on Sunday. That's the way I dealt with the MMC in 2013. May as well get it over with.
I did ask at EPU about an earlier scan if I should fall pg again and she said yes, they would offer me that, subject to availability, from about 8 weeks, even if I wasn't bleeding. So that's nice to know.

Fromwest so sorry to hear your news.

reni1 · 17/04/2015 14:02

Samthagrey -reported. I see you have posted your ad on another thread as well. Reported that, too. If everyone could get pregnant in 60 days this thread and indeed whole topic area wouldn't exist. $47 pregnancy miracle indeed.

Ruthie1967 · 17/04/2015 14:04

Oh fromwest I'm sorry it was bad news. Please accept my sympathies, it must be so hard. I hope you have plenty real life support x

ChewyGiraffe · 17/04/2015 16:57

Fromwest - sorry for your terribly sad news. I admire the way you seem to be handling it though. I hope you do catch that healthy egg soon.

joey38 · 17/04/2015 19:49

So sorry fromwest. Gosh this thread is a bit depressing at the moment. The 2 bfps for this year have not ended well. Fingers crossed for the third one who is currently pg (sorry can't remember the name without scrolling back). I guess this shows how tough it really is trying to catch that good egg once we're in our 40s. Feeling a bit sad for us all Sad.

jassS · 17/04/2015 21:30

Fromwest, I was so sure you will carry to term - after all, over 40 we have roughly a 50% chance to go to term and I thought you can do it if I could not.....

pls if you can have tests done then do. if the embryo is chromosomally normal, you need to look for other issues - immune, lining and decidualisation issues etc. Hanging on to them bthw is a symptom - of problematic lining issues and placental issues in this lining. Normal lining sheds when embryo is not develoing, problematic linings do not do this. It is difficult to treat these issues, that is true, but at least the few options which ppl have in the case of immunology/ linging issues can be tried. Of course if you prefer not to know, then that is another issue. So sad for you....

fromwesttoeast · 17/04/2015 22:31

Thanks for your messages.
Unfortunately I am not elegible for nhs tests as I already have children. This may not be a restriction in all areas, but it is in my town. I don't want to go down the route of private tests, especially for something that may be hard to treat or obscure and hard to diagnose. I think it would just bring more heartache, and the money would be better spent enhancing the lives of the children I already have. For me it is the better choice. I get so down having to deal with the medics. I find it easier to deal with it by myself.
I have a friend who had a stillbirth after two children, and she can't get any proper help, doctors telling her she is too old and should get over it. She isn't even 40 yet.
I count my blessings.
Ahh, it's a sad day when the nurses at the EPU all recognise you, I was greeted today as one of their "high flyers" as she put it. Regulars?, I asked, yes one of our regulars she replied. Even the lady in reception knew straight away I didn't need directions to the toilets. "You know where the loos are". Yes, yes I do. Been in all the rooms round here pretty much.
Anyway, I will grit my teeth, get back up and try again.
I should never have made that joke to my DH when I bought that pack of hpts "two to use now to confirm I'm pregnant and two to save for when I have to check for a bfn after the mc"
Come on ladies. Go forth undaunted.

Frecklefacedgirls · 18/04/2015 00:48

So sorry to hear of your loss fromwest ,I still come back on the thread occasionally to see how everyone is doing and I was hoping you'd have better news today.
After my third MC I was told I couldn't have any testing on the NHS either,we had three children already and they thought chromosomal abnormalities due to age was the most likely factor in my losses.(I was 45 then). I was advised if we wanted to try again to take 75mg aspirin daily.
DC4 was conceived just after we had decided to stop trying so I wasn't taking aspirin at the time but started after my BFP.
I don't know if the aspirin played a role or we just happened to have a good egg but the pregnancy was unremarkable and DD3 is perfect. I know there is some controversy about the benefits of taking aspirin if a clotting issue hasn't been diagnosed and also regarding the timing of taking it though.
I know what you mean about being known at the EPU, after multiple MC I had got to the stage of being recognised by the midwife on the phone before I had a chance to even say who I was!
I hope the procedure goes as well as it can on Sunday x

fromwesttoeast · 18/04/2015 07:32

Ahh Frecklefacedgirls, what an uplifting story. Thank you so much for popping in when you did and for posting.
I will look into the aspirin thing. I've never really looked into any of these medical issues before. If there is something simple and straightforward I can do to help myself, I should do it.

fromwesttoeast · 18/04/2015 07:35

Sorry, Jass. I also really appreciate your wisdom on this.

SeeWotHappens · 18/04/2015 12:10

Oh Fromwest, I am so, so sorry to hear what's happened. I've been away for a few days and have just caught your updates. I hope you have some decent RL support to help you through this. xx

10000Fireflies · 18/04/2015 12:43

Just popping in to let you know I'm thinking of you, Fromwest. Such bad news. I hope you are doing ok? Have plenty of Cake Wine and some Thanks. If I knew you in real life I would be delivering you some goodies, just as I have to friends in similar situations.

ICallHimGerald · 18/04/2015 14:57

fromwest so so sorry

Levismum · 18/04/2015 15:35

fromwest Flowers Thinking of you...

Grizzer · 18/04/2015 18:19

So sorry Fromwest. Thinking of you x
I am back from a lovely break in Cornwall. I am catching up on the news as there was no mobile signal on the resort we stayed on. Quite refreshing not to feel the need to check my phone all the time but quite strange to be out of contact.
Just to answer your question from ages ago Gum & Cloud, my magic new vitamin is called 'fertilAid for women.' It claims to have all the vitamin support & 'promotes hormonal balance & reproductive wellness.' See? Magic - how could it possibly fail? I've also bought 'fertilCM' which 'supports a healthy uterine lining' but the post office took it to the depot so I have to pick it up next week. It got 31 five star reviews on amazon (out of 53 -9 were 4 stars) all of those reviews claim to have got pg after 2/3 months after trying for a couple of years. It's quite expensive at just over £30 for a months supply but I guess I'll only need it for 2 months then I'll be pg Wink
Dh is loving his men pills too (not) but he is taking them at least. Just wish he'd stop cycling so much in all that Lycra. Can't be good for the tadpoles!!
I'm cd 9 or 10 so about to start 'proper' dtd. Shame I'm back to work on Monday. There was an article in the paper yesterday saying 8am is when sperm is at it's best. I'm more of a 10pm kind of girl so doomed to failure Grin
Hope everyone is enjoying the sun. Welcome newbies.

fromwesttoeast · 18/04/2015 21:39

Thanks for all your kind messages.
It's been a normal kind of Saturday for me here. Went to the library in the morning and picked up a couple of books for tomorrow's day in hospital. Last time I had medical management I finished a whole novel and had time to spare, so taking two should cover it.
Also bought some clothes. Had been putting off replacing some tatty items in the hope I would need maternity wear, but as that's not happening for now....
I have a friend who owns an independent clothes store, so popped in there.
I got my crying and grieving done on Thursday and Friday mornings. Since the scan it all seems distant. Like the whole pregnancy was just a dream and now I've woken up and it's back to normality. Bleeding....waiting....
I really didn't want the dream to end. But I'm awake now, and like many dreams that seem so delicious at the time, it's hard to remember exactly what they were about...
Hmmm, liking the sound of those "magic vitamins"!!

fromwesttoeast · 18/04/2015 21:42

How are you getting on SeeWot?
And FattyFishwife?

notsoold · 18/04/2015 22:40

I am so sorry for your loss fromwest....xxx

reni1 · 18/04/2015 22:46

Wondering about changing vitamins, too, Pregnacare give me chemically fruity metallic afterburps did that lower the tone?. Do they taste funny?

SeeWotHappens · 18/04/2015 22:53

Fromwest-I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

I'm 5+2 today. Trying to take each day as it comes. I bought a couple more boots tests last week. The lines have got stronger. I took the last one on Thursday at 5 weeks and it was a strong line. I did a digi this morning and it said 3+. I've had two MCs at 6+2 so next Saturday will be the first milestone. I'm going to step away from the tests now. I have one more digi that I will do next Thursday and then I'm going to leave the tests alone and just hope and pray that things work out this time.

Grizzer · 18/04/2015 23:39

I don't think they've got any taste Reni. They are the size of a small family car though! Some of the reviews said they caused headaches but I've had nothing negative. In fact, I'm probably already pg because I've been taking them for 5 days now Grin
Everything's crossed for you Seewot. Will you have an early scan?
