Juney, I went mental when a letter of very little importance failed to arrive this week, you must be going insane. Fingers crossed the boys arrive soon. I expect the travelling will just make them more exotic and worldly wise which can only be good for future babba.
Sparkly, and others with docs appointments coming up, hope they go well and that you can channel your inner purdey.
Lily, bless you. If you have never tried to find out when you ovulate you've been pretty much doing it in the dark (boom boom!). You might fin out you ovulate at a slightly different time than you thought as switching the doing dates could make all the difference.
And ewcm, I have no clue. Must start paying more attention to body. Except for when I do I just assume that everything points to me being preggo. I'm not Grin

BowiesJumper · 12/02/2015 20:55

Haha I'm re-watching the oldies too. On series 6 now.

Brrr I'm cold. My shiny pink thermometer arrives tomorrrrrow.

Won't need it obvs because I'm gonna get knocked up tooooniiiight by my drunk husband. Sigh.

purdeybirdie · 12/02/2015 20:58

Sparkly, don't forget I was asking you all for courage-of-conviction vibes before my appointment with the doc on Monday..and I was only asking for DHEA! It's not pleasant or easy approaching the medical establishment for things we just 'know' would be to our benefit but that we also suspect they are going to poo-pooh. You will make what you want to happen, happen. I know it.

I'm signing off now as I am about to watch Dallas Buyers Club which I rented fro t'library earlier. Two quid for a week! Bargain, that. Nanight my friends...Smile

Bowie's sods law says you will get pregnant so you can't use your new thermometer!

Bowies me too! Can't wait. With a back light too. Heaven!!

Night I'm glad to hear it and glad you were able to enjoy the bubbly hot tub. Let's hope it's your last spa day for a while as your BFP will be here soon!

Sparkly123 · 12/02/2015 21:15

Purds enjoy! It's not overly uplifting but I def enjoyed it, thought MM was great in it!!! Look forward to seeing another high temp from you tomorrow! Grin

mrscatmad31 · 12/02/2015 21:16

Thanks Spinning.
I think we've decided to wait it out til April and then look in to private HyCoSy if it's a long wait after the next appointment. Dh has a friend at work who has recently been through all this (so glad he's talking to someone) and he advised paying to get my 'eggs checked' errrr can anyone enlighten me as to what this would involve?

Nancy is so cute Purdey Smile

MissMrsMummy · 12/02/2015 21:24

Caved and poa-opk but it was completely blank. Cd 13. Usually ov on cd14 so it's definitely delayed this month! Will continue EOD for a few more days. Or until af bfp!

MissMrsMummy · 12/02/2015 21:25

CoffeeTwo · 12/02/2015 21:28

Hello all

thanks all for humouring me with my test drama

juneybean · 12/02/2015 21:30

Hi coffee hope you're okay? Has AF arrived? (Sorry if you said before have been on phone app all day)

Because you know our mantra is it's not over til it's over!!

Hi juney no I'm actually only 10dpo but I am certain I'm out this month. I think it was just the rush of seeing the line and then coming crashing back down really knocked me. I just can't believe I've had false positives two months in a row. But I'm over it now. Positive thinking and all that!

Nomio230 · 12/02/2015 21:39

I thought it was just men that were supposed to avoid hot baths. Am going to have to consult Dr Google now.

Sammy I am pretty sure that you would be ok to get tests done privately & then have treatment on the NHS. I had all my tests done with them, but then went private to get my Clomid prescription. (My surgery kept making mistakes with my referral & I got sick of waiting.) I have now been referred back to the NHS for IVF.

woodpigeon123 · 12/02/2015 21:39

Hi ladies,

Getting a bit down about my chart... I so wanted a steady, lovely rise!

Should I be preparing for AF after all these dips?

xxx

mrscatmad31 · 12/02/2015 21:41

Thanks Juney, was literally about to have a bath, lol!

CoffeeTwo · 12/02/2015 21:42

There's definitely a no hot baths in early pregnancy rule, so I assume it works for the 2ww. My midwife said that by hot it means turning your skin pink. Warm baths are fine.

Nomio230 · 12/02/2015 21:44

I really feel for you, Coffee, it must be horrible to get your hopes up & then have them crushed. Don't give up hope though, if you are only 10dpo, you might just be testing too early.

Found this about hot tubs. I am guessing the advice would be the same for hot baths.

Men who are trying to become dads should probably avoid frequent dips in the hot tub because the testes are very sensitive to heat. Men's testes are outside the body for a reason — they need to be in a cooler environment to produce healthy sperm.

It can take two to three months to produce a mature sperm cell and it's the immature sperm that are especially vulnerable, so a trip to the hot tub in January can impact developing sperm that's released as late as March, even April.

In the same way, the sperm count of an avid bicyclist who rides nearly every day might be lowered as a result of heat around the scrotum, which is sandwiched between his legs and bike seat.

Hot tubs, bicycling, saunas — even wearing tight underwear — are probably okay in moderation, but a man with a marginal sperm count might want to pass on these activities while he's trying to help his partner conceive.

There's no evidence to suggest that heat affects a woman's eggs, but we do know that hot tubs and saunas aren't recommended during pregnancy. Some studies show that raising your body temperature during early pregnancy increases the risk of birth defects, and a 2003 study found that women who used hot tubs early in pregnancy were twice as likely to miscarry. If you really want to play it safe, skip the hot tub for now or limit visits to the weeks just prior to ovulation.

eskimolaura · 12/02/2015 21:47

Nomio I have already asked Google. It's a bit vague and there are a range of answers.

Here's what babycentre says: 'You need to be cautious because a hot bath could push up your core body temperature, and this could be dangerous for your baby. Studies on animals suggest that overheating, especially in the early months of pregnancy, may cause birth defects in their offspring.'

But then some people on forums have said that it can help in the 2ww, as it keeps the uterus warm, while others have said that it can prevent implantation?

There is nothing on the NHS website about it, and the general advice seems to be based around avoiding saunas and hot tubs, as the temperature in these is generally hotter than a bath, and doesn't cool over time.

I think I will avoid them now in the 2ww just in case, but I'm sure that being 6dpo max, a hot bath won't have made a lot of difference

eskimolaura · 12/02/2015 21:51

Oh God, I'm stressing now that my hot bath is going to cause a bfn next week... :(

I ovulated last weekend, so like I said I'm a few days post ovulation. Have I done damage? :(

CoffeeTwo · 12/02/2015 21:54

no honestly eskimo you'll be absolutely fine, imagine how many pregnant women do this without thinking! It's just precautionary in early pregnancy and it means hot hot!

Nomio230 · 12/02/2015 21:54

I think I will still have baths, but keep them a lot cooler.

It is scary how many everyday things can affect fertility. I have just read that you shouldn't take Ibuprofen around the time of ovulation as they might impair the release of the egg and/or make the lining of your uterus less favourable for implantation.

I had no idea about this & have been ttc for years! I don't take anything during the tww just in case I am pg, but didn't know you couldn't take it before.
