Oh dear, poor you cupcake. Urgh the first trimester, one of the hardest times of my life. When will you be 12 weeks? Will my little one probably be born by then Shock? I'm due the 27th of April.

lillamyy1 · 04/03/2015 12:49

I've got a really good feeling about this little bean of yours, Cupcake Grin

lillamyy1 · 04/03/2015 12:52

And Siarie, I totally agree about the first trimester! It's made me quite sure that I'm never going to be pg again!! If my little fella wants a brother or sister we're adopting! Grin

Keep that feeling Lill! I need positivity Grin
And I bet u any money u'll be saying u want another in about 2 years time :p

OP posts:
lillamyy1 · 04/03/2015 14:33

You'e probably right Cupcake, I always wanted two... but very seriously don't think I could handle pregnancy again. I'm not suited to it!
Tori, I'll meet up with you on the adoption thread in a couple of years Wink

Siarie · 04/03/2015 14:43

I know exactly what you mean lil I need about five years to get over it. But that might be a bit too long, but I do want two. So basically I've told DH if we aren't waiting for this one to be in school then I want a nanny in the day while I'm going through the first trimester.

Wow Cupcake, it's not long away! I wonder if this one will make an earlier appearance at 37 weeks rather than 40. I did think I'd go to 40 and maybe over but these strange braxton hicks make me wonder if my body is really starting to prepare for it sooner than I thought it would.

Ducky23 · 04/03/2015 15:40

Sending positive vibes your way cupcake Smile

Went to the gp after pain where I had my episiotomy, turns out I have an infection so in on more anti biotics and have a review next week to check if it's healed properly Hmm if not I might have to have it re done Confused

Siarie · 04/03/2015 17:32

Oh no ducky, good thing you got it checked out! I hope you don't have to have it done again that wont be nice xx

lillamyy1 · 04/03/2015 17:38

Oh Ducky that's not a good prospect Confused I really hope the antibiotics work Flowers
Yes Siarie, I wonder if she will come earlier! I'm rather hoping my little chap doesn't wait until 40 weeks - I'm finding it so difficult to get around now and really fed up with carrying all this weight and waddling at a snail's pace. There are loads of zebra crossings where I live and some of the drivers are such impatient arseholes - they're revving their engines while I'm crossing and don't even wait until I'm safely on the opposite pavement before they start driving again!
Just been to the midwife. Baby's head is down but he hasn't descended yet so I'm measuring bigger than I should be. Really hope he descends before I go into labour because the midwife said it'll be long and difficult if not Confused

Cupcake92 · 04/03/2015 17:51

Lill the difference with me is I love being pregnant! I want this one to go slow so I can appreciate every bit of it as I wished away my pregnancy with DS. And it's good baby is facing down. How many weeks are u now?

Siarie I'd love a nanny for DS! I've been looking into one who is local and has amazing reviews! I think she'd help especially towards the end as she does house work too.

Oh Ducky it's good u went to the GP tho! I hope these antibiotics work! At least it's getting sorted now rather than later. And thanks for the positive vibes!! :)

H moves on the 1st. He's hardly here anyway now but that's his date.

Bearsinmotion · 04/03/2015 22:28

Ouch Ducky, hope you're ok. I had an infection with DD, and a course of antibiotics cleared it up almost overnight, hope it's the same for you.

I had to go to the dentist this morning for an extraction :( I am completely phobic of dentists due to childhood experiences and was pretty much in bits. When I got there it was a different dentist who asked why I want the extraction. He took an X-Ray and said basically there was no reason to remove the tooth! So, am happy to still have the tooth but very Confused Hmm about the first dentist - doesn't really convince me that they know what they are doing!

I know ow you feel lillamyy, I feel so much better now DS is here! I enjoyed pregnancy up until about 7 months, then it just became such a struggle! Definitely no more DC for me now!

lillamyy1 · 04/03/2015 22:58

Phew! What a relief Bears! I HATE the dentist,
I'm 35 weeks on Friday Cupcake Grin

Cupcake92 · 05/03/2015 07:07

Oh gosh Bears!! I'm also dentist phobic! As a child I got that terrified by the needle he showed me I bit his finger and ran out the dentists office! Grin
Thankfully we have just had a new lady dentist and she's incredible! She's so lovely and will only do things if really needed.
And I've had a tooth out..... I cracked my tooth in half whilst in labour with DS on the gas and air mouth piece!! GrinGrin haha!

Oh wow Lill not long now! :)

Siarie · 05/03/2015 07:34

Bears I highly recommend paying for a private dentist if you aren't already. I was NHS for years and they literally sit you down fly through everything then do a hygiene scale and polish in a few minutes if your lucky.

Private was so much better, the dentist actually looked at my teeth. Really looked for a good 15 minutes then hygiene appointments are seperate and last 30 minutes!

The lady who does them spends ages getting each tooth free of plaque. I think it costs me about £100 a visit maybe £120. We have health care that covers most of the cost but even if we didn't id still pay that for the difference in service.

I have no trust that anyone before who looked at my teeth could possibly have made a good assessment in 1-2 minutes.

Ducky23 · 05/03/2015 08:31

Thanks guys

Bears I hope mine is like yours! They also gave me laxatives and told me to not strain because if it's not healed it will just rip it even more BlushBlushBlush

Glad you escaped the evil dentist! I'm terrified of them! Saying that I needed to book an appt in January but have been putting it off!!! Confused

Bearsinmotion · 05/03/2015 08:52

I did that cupcake, and got referred to the "special dentist"!

I was private Siarie but this treatment would literally be £1000s so it has to be NHS or nothing at the moment :(. The second guy seemed really good though - he talked me through all the options, including having it removed under sedation which sounded much more appealing!

Good luck Ducky, it's so frustrating when you think you're over the birth and then you keep needing medical care :(

Bearsinmotion · 05/03/2015 08:55

I meant to say Ducky, there are campaigns to give all women who have episiotomies antibiotics because infections are so common. It makes sense - you're in pain anyway because of the stitches so infections go unnoticed for much longer :(

Siarie · 05/03/2015 10:28

It's a bit like pot luck though isn't it? I had one good dentist when I was under the NHS, when I was a child my teeth with coated with something as I had weak enamel (lovely genetics!). This one good dentist did an xray of my teeth years later (after going for regular check ups every six months and being told everything was fine) and she found that actually it wasn't. I had to have loads of fillings because the coating had masked things.

That one dentist is now working privately though, she left and the good care left with her. Funny enough she moved to where my DH used to get his teeth done at a private place, small world huh?

It's a shame it's so expensive Bears, luckily we have our dental plan included so if we need anything really expensive it will be covered as well as a certain yearly allocation for checkups, xrays and the like. I hope you get the second guy from now on!

Totally agree that antibiotics should be given, that makes sense because like bears said how are you meant to know otherwise?

Waiting for a new cleaner to arrive, my good cleaner left for a new job Sad and I'm not feeling too well this morning. I think I'm low on iron as I look like a ghost. Me and DH are off to go look at a house later today, I'm meeting him at the nearest tube station so it's going to be like a little adventure for me. I take so long to waddle around these days.

Bearsinmotion · 05/03/2015 11:01

Interestingly the dentist yesterday said he was reluctant to remove the tooth as the previous root canal work, done privately, was so well done! So perhaps it's a false economy!

Cupcake92 · 05/03/2015 16:47

I'm just at the docs :( think I've got a UTI! Which I always bloody get when pg. grr!
Just hope I'm only on antibiotics for 3 days and not a week!

OP posts:
lillamyy1 · 05/03/2015 20:30

Oh no Cupcake, UTIs are horrible! I went through a stage of getting them all the time but only had one during pregnancy at the beginning (touch wood!)
Went to a ladies-only antenatal class this afternoon. Came out feeling terrified! Te midwife running it talked about all the possible complications and things like forceps and cesarians and what can go wrong with epidurals at the end!! Shock
One good thing she said though was that if you do have an episiotomy at my hospital they do give you antibiotics as a matter of course.

Cupcake92 · 05/03/2015 21:08

Lill she tested my sample and I never had any infection! Woo!!! She just said I just get very sensitive down there when pregnant Blush and that I need to drink lots more!
She was brilliant tho, told her I was just worrying as I'd lost the last 2 babies and she's told me to rest, take it easy and no lifting anything! Lol! She wanted to sign me off work for the 1st trimester to give me the best chance of being stress free and having it all go well. I said no tho as I quite like work it's relaxing Grin
Such a lovely doctor!

And Lill I would have been so scared her telling me al that!! She must have just scarred u for life now! Shock

OP posts:
lillamyy1 · 05/03/2015 21:39

Aah it's great you've got such a good doctor!
Yes, she came in with 3 progressively more terrifying sizes of forceps, a metal ventouse and the epidural equipment to show us! Shock Eurgh, just the thought of the epidural made me feel funny. I'm not bad with needles but it's the thought of being numb and having a catheter and not being able to move etc. I really hope I don't have to have one Confused
And the forceps!! I'm sure at the time it's a relief that baby's coming out safely, but the thought of them going into my fanjo and round poor baby's headBlush Shock It wouldn't be so bad if they were plastic...
Feeling nervous again now Hmm
