Aww lovely scan picture *Tori and thanks, I'm a bit funny about hats. I don't like most newborn hats so it's been hard finding ones I do.

I know they need them to keep their heads warm but most just look like socks on their heads! I find newborn mittens weird too, so have opted for mostly built in ones.

I wouldn't be surprised if I get PND but DH is really clued up on it. I've been very honest and said I will let him know, he's asked in our classes what he can do (I expect that's topic for this evenings class actually). You can't help hormone levels, but hopefully support is key. I hope your DH can step up and support you Bears.

Another week down for me, 32 weeks today. Only 5-8 to go, which is a good thing since I feel like I'm being beat up all the time. Last night she stuck her foot in between my ribs and it was so weird to touch it. Tiny thing but completely formed, I could feel the bottom of her foot.

Bearsinmotion · 02/03/2015 09:27

I meant to say Siarie, that hat is gorgeous! Completely agree most baby hats are horrid or bland - I'dwear that one if it fitted!

Lovely scan pic too Tori :)

lillamyy1 · 02/03/2015 10:16

Yes, lovely hat Siarie and lovely scan pic Tori Smile
Siarie, that must have been so weird/amazing at the same time being able to feel her little foot! I haven't been able to make out which body parts DS has been sticking out yet (I probably have a bit more fat than you Blush)
You've inspired me to look for nice hats now... totally agree most newborn hats look silly! Do they have to wear them all the time at first or just outside?

Don't worry about PND Cupcake, you're such a strong person I'm sure even if you get it a bit you'll be able to fight it. I read that you should start taking evening primrose oil from about 37 weeks to steady your hormones.

Cupcake92 · 02/03/2015 17:46

Lovely scan pic tori! :)

Oo Siarie it's awful being kicked in the ribs! Lol! I love that bit tho, where u feel their every move :)

Thanks Lill :) not heard of the evening primrose thing. I wasn't sure u were able to take things like that when pg? :s

Cupcake, I read it in a forum but have just looked into it further and you're right, it's not recommended in pg as no one knows if it's good or bad to take Confused
I am so bloody uncomfortable atm! Keep having horrendous pains in my ribs and upper back. The only way I can relieve it is by slouching and leaning back on the sofa, which is apparently a really bad position to be in because baby won't get into the right position for labour. My birth ball came today but sitting on it makes my back worse than ever! Sad

Cupcake92 · 03/03/2015 07:31

Haha Tori Grin what did DH think it was? aaww poor rats! Pets can be very expensive. I had to spend £180 on my hampster for an over night stay at the vets with a drip! But that hamster later died that day he came home.

Lill yeah I thought because it was a herbal thing u shouldn't have it. I usually take cranberry tablets as I'm very prone to UTI's and they seem to keep them at bay, but I was told to stop taking them while pg.
oo Lill u'll find urself forever bouncing on that birthing ball Grin I did for weeks begging DS to get out! Haha!

Hope ratty is ok Tori, we regularly ended up spending £100 on our rats for various ops - they are very expensive - and we had 15 at one point! Will you keep having them when DC arrives? We only had 3 when DD arrived and after the last one died we decided not to get any more. They are not the best pets for small children, we might get guinea pigs as the DC get older.

Cupcake you must have really loved that hamster! Hamsters have such a short life span I'm not sure I would bother with operations for them. But then it does depend how much you are attached to them. Whereas in my mind anything from a rabbit up should get an operation (plenty of people would disagree with me though). Oh and then Bears you've mentioned rats, they are really clever so many that changes things since I probably would try operations for them, oh dear!

Now i've just confused myself greatly.

Totally agree tori! One of my rats got ill and it cost us £250 to sort him, he died a few months later of somethig unrelated but I didn't think twice about it, he was part of the family Smile

How was ds after his injections lulu? My ds was very sleepy and off good after his second lot, I got quite worried, he's much better now though.

Hope everyone is ok

Cupcake92 · 03/03/2015 19:12

Siarie the hamster never had an op he only had a drip as he was dehydrated! Lol!!

I'm good thanks Ducky, how are u and DS ?

I'm feeling really miserable and worried today Sad DP has been saying he's going to quit smoking ever since I got pg and he hasn't given up at all. If anything he's smoking more now! He always goes outside but he stinks when he comes in and I've read that 3rd hand smoke can be bad for babies and even increase the risk of SIDS. Apparently if a parent smokes the baby can't come in the parents' bed and shouldn't even go on the sofa if a smoker regularly sits on it. The one stays on their clothes and in their hair and breath for over an hour and even if they've washed their hands the baby must never suck on their fingers.
That means that to keep the baby from coming into contact with any toxins he won't be able to go near DP after he's been smoking unless he has a shower and washes his hair and puts clean clothes in after every cigarette! Which he'll never do as he's not the most hygienic of people anyway. So I'll end up doing everything and he won't be able to help or bond with the baby at all Sad
I've tried to tell DP all of this but he thinks it's over the top to worry about it. His parents actually smoked in the house when he was little Shock
I know to might sound silly to be so worried but I already feel so protective of my little one that I want to do everything I can to make sure he's not coming into contact with anything that could make him poorly, even if it will mean that I can't allow his dad to go near him if he's been smoking.
I'm just so upset that P doesn't care about it. I feel like he's being really selfish and maybe I'm just overreacting but at the moment I feel like if I'd known the dangers on 3rd hand smoke that I wouldn't have had a baby with him at all Sad

lillamyy1 · 03/03/2015 20:13

Also I've already decided that if he goes out for a cigarette while I'm in labour I'm going to send him home and deliver by myself.

Were good thanks cupcake. I was worried about ds when he went funny after his injections but he's recovering now. Has your ds recovered from his sickness now?

Lil, your not overreacting at all. H smokes and ds consultant said it's ok as long as hands are thoroughly washed and the jacket that he used to smoke in is taken off when he comes in. H refuses to wash his hands that much so I don't let him touch ds, it's his loss for being lazy Hmm and babies shouldn't co sleep with someone that has been smoking... I don't know why but that's what they say.

Ducky23 · 03/03/2015 20:27

And are you taking anyone else with you when you give birth? It may be worth takin someone else with you if you might send DH home. The midwifes where i went both times leave you alone quite a bit so it would be handy to have someone with you

Siarie · 03/03/2015 20:28

Smokers were on my list of no noes for my potential mate, my DH's parents both smoke though but would always smoke outside and weirdly they never smell of smoke.

No idea how they manage that one, I've never thought of asking! I really hate the smell of smoke, people who smoke near me and anyone who smokes in their homes with kids just blah. Someone in the antenatal class came in stinking of smoke yesterday and I wanted to puke. I really should find out how the PIL don't smell, although MIL has given up smoking now.

lillamyy1 · 03/03/2015 20:50

Well the thing is that when we met I was a smoker too, and actually up until I got pg I smoked a bit. I just feel stupid as I knew what I was getting myself into but just didn't know about the dangers. Now I can't stand smokers, even when I walk past someone smoking in the street I hold my breath. And Siarie, that's really horrible about the woman at your antenatal class Angry Whenever I've been to the hospital there's always at least one pg woman standing outside the entrance with a fag! I think it's disgusting. They're not even ashes about it!
Until very recently, ie since I've been pg DP would light up right next to me while we were walking along the road Angry Until I made a point of making him cross to the other side!
I'm just furious that he's been promising to give up for so long but now it's become apparent that he's actually had no intention to. And that even though I've read him the results of these reports on baby centre and other sites that all say the same thing, he'd rather deny it and say he doesn't believe it than give up!
I'll just have to do the same as you Ducky, and not let him go near the baby at all. It is his loss, because he has told me on more than one occasion that he doesn't want to be a distant and uninvolved father like his dad was, but clearly he's too selfish to be any better!
I wasn't planning on having anyone else at the birth but I think I'll ask my mum or a friend to be there now.
Sorry for the big rants, I just needed to get it off my chest and talk to people who'd understand.

Cupcake92 · 04/03/2015 03:15

That's good ducky glad DS is feeling better :) yes my DS is much better now but has decided to get up at 3 today so I'm so tired.

Lill u rant all u want. It's understandable u don't want DP to touch DS when he's covered in smoke. I struggled with H n his smoking but he hardly held DS anyway so...
It's not nice tho

Ducky23 · 04/03/2015 05:08

Cupcake92 · 04/03/2015 08:45

He slept for an hour ! Lol! Oh no poor u 2! :( hope u both feel better soon!

I'm struggling to eat breakfast this morning... Not even had a coffee! I feel so so sick. I think if I ate I'll be sick. Ms has well and truly arrived at 6 weeks!

Poor DS Ducky, hope he feels better soon.
