Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?

Hi, I'm taking part in the Response medical trial and wondering if anyone else on here is too?
It's been a very difficult year and a half and I have had three consecutive miscarriages, 1st in Nov 2013 at 12 weeks, 2nd in July 2014 at 7 weeks, 3rd in Nov 2014 at 9 weeks. It's a 4 month waiting list for my Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic so I'm taking part in the trial as want to keep things moving as worried I'm running out of time (I'm 36 this year - although I was 33 when first started TTC) but I'm in the 2WW and feeling terrified.
There's a lot of extra support offered as part of the trial but I'm feeling a bit lonely and out on a limb about it.
Anyone else on the same boat or had medical trial experience?

On my way into hospital now... Not feeling hopeful. Line is still super faint and woke up to little bit of bleeding this morning. Also I temp (wish I didn't now) and there's been a huge dip last few days after a perfect looking chart. We'll see what happens.

clairemorgan81 · 15/04/2015 06:52

hope your okay meems let us know how you get on. fingers crossed all ok for you x

girliesaints · 15/04/2015 06:55

Fingers crossed Meems x

Well thats me getting randomised for the trial. Trial nurse did a test using a different brand and she was happy it was positive. Loads of bloods taken and coming back this afternoon for the drugs! She said the bleeding was most likely implantation and isn't too concerned about it. I'm throwing the thermometer away for now as that's just a stress I don't need just now! I'm still a bit concerned as if this turns out to be a chemical or another miscarriage then that's me off the trial for good. But trying to stay positive Smile

Indiedog · 15/04/2015 08:40

Positive positive positive. Trust their judgement.
That was an early start for you today!!
My lines were faint in the mornings, always darker in the afternoon, that's why I thought it wouldn't show! But it did, and yours has too Grin

I know you mention chemical, but don't forget that's the whole idea of getting an early positive, and then randomised so you can give yourself the best chance as soon as poss.
My trial nurses said if anything did go pear shape, you'd have to have a few months break but could be signed back on to the trial.

Anyway, congratulations, keep positive, we will keep everything crossed for you. Good luck this afternoon, syringes are interesting!
Xx

Sorry not been on ladies, still sick. Will read back later, hope all ok x

clairemorgan81 · 15/04/2015 13:24

so ladies if you miscarry you dont stay on trial? I never asked that although have wondered since x

sizethree · 15/04/2015 13:41

Claire I understood it as you only get once chance to be randomised and drug/placebo allocated. So sadly if you miscarry after being randomised and starting the injections, you'd no longer be able to participate in the trial.
But remember that if you've had all the recurrent miscarriage tests and there's no explanation then you've still got an excellent chance of this next pregnancy being sucessful on or off the trial.

Oh right I see......I'm pretty sure my miscarriage consultant said I would still get extra scans even if not on trial but I can't be 100% certain. what a shame if your on trial and you have another loss x

clairemorgan81 · 15/04/2015 13:59

hope you feel better soon choccy you poor thing

how you feeling size

sizethree · 15/04/2015 14:43

Yes, after 3 losses they step up the care plan and even off the trial, we'd get extra scans.
I'm ok. I had my midwife booking appointment this morning so thag was a huge scarey step. I had one with my first pregnancy too, but thankfully it was a different midwife this time around so I didn't feel too sad.
I've decided to decline the screening tests and just waut til the 20 week abnormality scan for anything to be picked up. I thought i would worry more if I was given a high risk statistic, than if I just waited gmfor more clarity.
I'm struck down with nasty nausea so hoping that will pass soon.
Hope you're perking up Choccy, sickness is so miserable.
Hope everyone else is havi g a good day.

Evening ladies.. So still no af. I took a test this morning and left it as I dashed off to work. Fully expecting it to be negative anyway. I've just got home and checked and I'll attach the test. I know it's wayyyy over the time limit but I've checked others I've done and they've never developed any evaps. What do you think?? X

Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?
philippa88 · 15/04/2015 17:09

I must add, the test looks better in real life...

clairemorgan81 · 15/04/2015 17:30

I see a line but I'm no expert on evaps!! yikes I hope its a positive for you x

Meemsmum · 15/04/2015 17:39

I can see a line there! Fingers crossed for you x

clairemorgan81 · 15/04/2015 17:42

what would that make you philippa over 6 weeks? Only way of knowing for sure is to do test in morning and see if it appears within time good luck x

philippa88 · 15/04/2015 17:54

Im so confused by it!! There's no doubting there's a line but I'm very wary. Gonna do another one in the morning and see what happens. I'm 2 weeks late today so would be just over 6 weeks - unless I ovulated late. Will keep you posted!! X

Meemsmum · 15/04/2015 20:24

Let us know philippa, got my fingers crossed for you. X

Meemsmum · 15/04/2015 20:29

So I had my first injection this afternoon! Was quite scary putting the needle in but actually it was totally fine and not sore at all. So grateful to be on this trial, the care I've had so far has been amazing and I can't praise my trial nurse highly enough.Although obviously none of us would choose to be in this situation, I'm feeling very fortunate to have this opportunity! x

girliesaints · 15/04/2015 20:47

Been flat out at work today and no time to post but I have been checking in- exciting day! Grin

Meems, glad to hear appointment and first injection went ok

Size, another milestone ticked off

Philippa, would be amazing if it is a bfp, keep us updated

Choccy, hope you're feeling better

Claire- still testing? Still bfn here and feeling increasingly like AF is coming l.

girliesaints · 16/04/2015 06:27

Balls I forgot to test this morning and pee went straight down the toilet. Almost tempted to stick the stick into the toilet bowl (clearly I didn't) Am I rubbish, or has anyone else done this and had to test later in the day?

clairemorgan81 · 16/04/2015 07:06

haha what you like girlie.....do a 4 hour hold that's the same.
not even a hint of a line for me huh

girliesaints · 16/04/2015 07:58

Did test an hour later but still bfn. Wouldn't believe I have a high level of responsibility in my job but can't cope with testing for this!

clairemorgan81 · 16/04/2015 08:02
