Anyone taking part in the Response Medical Trial or any other medical trial?

Hi, I'm taking part in the Response medical trial and wondering if anyone else on here is too?
It's been a very difficult year and a half and I have had three consecutive miscarriages, 1st in Nov 2013 at 12 weeks, 2nd in July 2014 at 7 weeks, 3rd in Nov 2014 at 9 weeks. It's a 4 month waiting list for my Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic so I'm taking part in the trial as want to keep things moving as worried I'm running out of time (I'm 36 this year - although I was 33 when first started TTC) but I'm in the 2WW and feeling terrified.
There's a lot of extra support offered as part of the trial but I'm feeling a bit lonely and out on a limb about it.
Anyone else on the same boat or had medical trial experience?

clairemorgan81 · 20/03/2015 13:31

yey!!

Are you due to ovulate next week then? when you going away x

girliesaints · 20/03/2015 13:39

Well I was but AF is currently awol, so depending when it arrives it's probably will be when I get back.

Got to get my head around the opks as never used them before x

sizethree · 20/03/2015 13:42

Yay girlie! Welcome to being an official member!
I've never used the bag I'm ashamed to say. Except when I brought all the stuff home initially.
But it'd be cool to see someone else carrying one. If have to rush up to them! I think there's now three of us on it up in Edinburgh.
How are you getting on Claire. Has AF actually shown up or still toying with you?
I'm doing ok but time is standing still. Still seems like forever away until my appointment next Thursday. But I have a looooooong list of to-dos to keep me occupied this weekend. And I feel nicely rested after taking a few days off work this week.

Thanks size. With you on the bag but at at least it's a handy storage bag. I'm number 8 for Southampton, so I'll be looking out. The team were very excited as they had just got their first pregnant lady this morning.

Have you had any more follow up from the hospital following last week?

sizethree · 20/03/2015 15:29

My trial manager has been great and spoke to the geneticist that is doing the karyotying. They confirmed they now have mine and DH's blood samples and they are marked urgent and at the top of the pile. But still around a 2 week wait for results.
The trial manger also weejs in EPU and said I could call yesterday to see if there was a free scan space. I was very tempted but I felt bad about taking up a spot that someone more in need than me would want. I've no cramping not bleeding and have done preg symptoms so I just need to hold out too next thurs I think. Anxiety is crippling. And if I get any alarm bells ringing I'll head straight in. But for now I just need to sit tight and very much hope they everything is as it should be.
Not knowing is the worst thing to try and handle.

It's understandable that you're anxious Size. Keep positive as much as possible, we're here for as much handholding as you need x

clairemorgan81 · 20/03/2015 16:18

hope your okay sizethree I bet this week has dragged so much for you and I dont know how you didn't ring for a scan.....your very kind as I know that might have helped ease your worries. I can't wait til thurs for you.
I'm ok period came today after 7 days of brown discharge. Fed up with it but I guess af is here now just hope it doesnt happen again next month.
opks are easy once you get used to them girlie but I used them before trial so easy for me to say. any questions just ask x

Choccywoccydodah · 20/03/2015 17:47

Yay girlie!! Welcome to the trial!
Careful with your digi ov tests, I actuallynivulated 2 days before my smiley! I felt it and it was confirmed on my scan on Tuesday with dates. So just make sure you dtd before you get your smiley too!!

Sorry af got you Claire, totally sucks! Really hope we get 2 BFPs from you both this month!!

Sizethree sorry you're feeling low. It's really so awful that you've been given this worry. An extra scan would've been nice for you, but I understand why you didn't take it. Are you worried about mmc? What will the bloods show when they come back? Sorry I don't understand all that part.

All good here except I'm knackered from ds having chicken pox bless him :( He's sleeping at night that's not a problem thank goodness, but I'm just constantly worried about him and obviously running around for him poor thing. The wining is driving me a bit mad as he's not like that so I know he's ill! I just don't know what I can do to make him more comfy :( He's keeping his chin up though and still a happy little thing most of the time despite him hating his spots!

All good baby-wise. Got a bit of appetite back. Feeling more nauseous in the evening now but whennj go to bed it's fine :)

sizethree · 20/03/2015 18:21

Thanks ladies. Good to know yiure always around when j have a wobble!
choccy, yes very worried about a MMC. All three pregnancies had gone wrong weeks before I realised. And I only started bleeding wuth two of them, so who knows what will show up on screen in Thursday.
The blood tests I was referring to are the urgent ones that were taken after the bombshell of the abnormal chromosomal issue of my third loss last Friday. DH and I are having full karyotying to ascertain if just one or both of us are carriers. Until the results come back I wont know the risk of this current pregnancy being affected.
Longest fortnight EVER!

glad to hear your well choccy..... its exhausting when ds is poorly so I bet your shattered. hope Hes better soon.

it's all such a worry for you sizethree totally get how you feel about thurs given your history. lets all give positive vibes that all is fine and baby is growing well.....I so hope so for you.x

girliesaints · 20/03/2015 21:00

Feeling the pressure for bfp already(only joking)!

Claire, glad AF finally turned up. Hope mine comes along soon.

Choccy, chickenpox is the pits.have you got the moose from the chemist? Only thing that soothed DD, although my neighbour did comment she thought she was being murdered one night!

size- completely empathise around missed MC let alone the added stress of the chromosome issue. There is nothing that you can do, so as much as possible try and relax and remember today you are pregnant x

girliesaints · 22/03/2015 21:42

Hi ladies, hope you all had lovely weekends.

AF has finally arrived, so I've used the test calculator for the first time which has lead to a question, which I hope you can me with.

When I use tool one, you have to use the number of days of your average cycle to calculate when your next period is due. upto this AF mine was 25 days since the last MC, however as AF was 4 days late it's now meant the average has increased to 27. Would you start ov testing on the date on the tool, or would you start a few days earlier, so not to miss ov? Can you tell I've not used to the ov tests?!

clairemorgan81 · 23/03/2015 06:39

hi girlie pleased af has arrived for you. my cycles have been all over the place too and the study midwife told me to start testing based on the shortest cycle so for me one month it was 24 days. it means starting testing pretty much as soon as your period ends xx

girliesaints · 23/03/2015 07:26

Thanks Claire, it was sort of what I was thinking x

Choccywoccydodah · 23/03/2015 08:17

Morning!
I'd start earlier rather than later girlie :) Better to do that than risk missing it. They'll give you more tests if you run out.
Gotta run, I have a REALLY whiney 3 year old this morning! This is going to be a looooooooong day!!!!

girliesaints · 23/03/2015 10:58

Choccy, feel for you on the three year old front. My four year old has asked if we are there yet... Just another 2 hours to go!

Got organised last night and put the dates on calendar to know when I need to start each test, otherwise I won't have a clue x

clairemorgan81 · 23/03/2015 11:22

enjoy your hols girlie.
we're probably not far off each other in ovulation dates I wouldn't have thought x

clairemorgan81 · 23/03/2015 11:31

choccy do you have an appointment this week? how you feeling?

sizethree how you feeling? are you back at work? is it your scan on Thursday?)hoping your okay xx

Choccywoccydodah · 23/03/2015 11:47

Have a fab hol girlie!! Looking so forward to booking a hol once I get to 12 weeks!!

No appt for me this week, sizethree has her scan Thursday, me next Tuesday :) weeks are flying though tbh!

Choccywoccydodah · 23/03/2015 11:51

Sorry Claire meant to say, feeling fine atm, however yesterday all day I felt awful and had a pain in my lower left side and lower left back. I wasn't cobstipated as in poo was soft but was hard to push out so I think it may have been that as I went like 8 times!!! Much better today. Thank god DH was giving me a day off from ds yesterday lol. Walked into town to the shops for a bit but Asda almost made me throw up again!
And I've lost 3lb....... Still not much of an appetite but I've just finished a whole bag of revels!! Don't want other choc though, just those. I bought an apple pie yesterday as all I wanted was Apple pie and and custard, it's still in the freezer as by the time I walked home I didn't want it anymore!

clairemorgan81 · 23/03/2015 19:24

ouch I suffered horrendous constipation with ds pregnancy so I know that feeling in lower tum.
haha revels are my favourites yum.....glad your feeling okay though it's great your doing so well x

girliesaints · 24/03/2015 10:19

Choccy, sounds like you've been having a horrible time. Hopefully it's a sign of a positive pregnancy and/ or sign you're on the actual drug.

Claire- would be fab if we do ov around the same time, or even fall together.

Glad in someways that AF arrived later and means under no pressure to Ttc yet as beds in apartment are very noisy just turning over let alone anything else ??

Currently sat watching the rest of the family swimming due to AF (at this stage tampons aren't an option- sorry if tmi)

clairemorgan81 · 24/03/2015 10:33

ahh where are you girlie? I think I 'll ovulate late next week but who knows the way my cycles are at moment.
haha can you imagine if you were ovulating this week hilarious!! creak creak x

clairemorgan81 · 24/03/2015 10:33

hope your okay sizethree x
