The smallprint –
Berries have a strict entrance criteria (TTC #1, over 30, TTC for 12+ months, NO instadiffers, must have a special pot and definitely no mention of baby dust or baby dancing).
Those not abiding by the rules may be escorted from the premises.

Right you all have permission to post now Grin. Did my best with the list (whilst trying to hide ipad from my hairdresser). Apologies if I've missed anyone off.

So the meds arrived today for our next cycle. Freaked me out a bit as last time we just picked them up from the clinic as we went along. Didn't really realise how much there was Shock. Taking some kind of vaginal 'tablet' this time instead of Cyclogest. They come with a lovely vaginal applicator. Anyone else used these?? Hoping they'll elimate the waxy pants issue!!

OP posts:
happylass · 16/12/2014 18:36

There you go. This is what £1200 of IVF drugs look like Shock

Where did you buy them from? Did you try Asda? I have heard they sell them at cost.

happylass · 16/12/2014 18:56

Pip because we had a 2 cycle package we had to get them through the FC who take a 'small' cut. A total rip off. Would have been over £500 cheaper from Asda and a couple of hundred cheaper if we'd gone direct to the supplier we used rather than going through the FC. DH is Xmas Angry and swears he is going to make a complaint about them when this is all over!

Oh the glamour of vaginal applicators happy!!! Can't believe the variation in pricing - obviously pharma companies have to make their profit but for clinics to them be sticking another profit margin on top, considering how expensive ivf is anyway, is just ridiculous. It's not like this is a cosmetic procedure FFS. Thanks for the shiny new fred btw!

One of my cats sits on me all the time, she must have a duff diff detector (trying saying that 5 times as fast as you can!).
The other one, on the other hand, NEVER sits with either of us. If he ever deigns to stop by for a lap cuddle I won't even need a pg test! Grin

happylass · 16/12/2014 19:08

Are the drugs free on the NHS btw?

OP posts:
lumen · 16/12/2014 19:28

On my NHS cycle the drugs were included happy but on our last cycle we got them from Asda (strangest and most expensive shop I have ever done there)

Thanks for the lovely new thread, am going to party here for the next couple of weeks over Christmas Xmas Smile

WildflowerMarmalade · 16/12/2014 19:32

Ooh, lovely, lovely new thread. Thank you Happy Thanks

So how exactly do you go about buying fertility drugs from Asda? Do you have to order them at the nearest Asda pharmacy or what? I definitely want to get the dugs from somewhere other than the FC this time around, need to cut costs where possible.

Pipbin · 16/12/2014 19:38

Robert Winston was on the radio a while back saying how much of a rip off IVF cycles are. He was very scathing of the way private cycles promote the thing where they have a camera on your embryo 24/7.
He said that a full cycle could be done for about £500!

I feel so very lucky that we got three fully funded NHS cycles. I've not paid a penny.

HampshireBlues · 16/12/2014 19:48

Thank you for the new home Happy

Pricing of treatment sucks. I took my prescription for the microgygan to Boots and felt pretty smug the hat I'd only paid £5 until the lady pointed out that it was only for one months supply and that the contraceptive is normally free. Man did I feel stupid!

happylass · 16/12/2014 19:49

Ah the Embryoscope Pip. That's included 'free of charge' with our cycle. It's just the rest of the treatment that costs £4k!! If I was younger I would wait for the NHS, just don't think we've got time to waste Sad

Wild DH just rang up our local Asda pharmacy last week for prices. I've also heard good things about Healthcare at Home and Central Pharmacy. Make sure you factor in syringes and sharps boxes though as apparently these aren't always included. I have enough syringes to start up my own pharmacy. For some reason even though each box of Menopur is only 3.2 doses they each come with 18 syringes. Wtf?

Hello! Wine cheers to the new thread. I didn't mess it up or anything. Xmas Smile

That's a lot of drugs happy! How come you're changing from the cyclogest for this cycle?

I'm very cynical about the motivations of private healthcare providers - profits are not always compatible with the needs of the patient.

lumen I'll be partying with you! Wine

Welcome to tammy, hopefully you'll find your way over to this new thread. Make yourself at home! Sorry to hear of your struggles and hope you find some support here. Flowers

I need a Christmas cheer boost, family seem determined to be difficult at the moment. Deep breaths and positive thinking required! Very painful and heavy af not helping either.

IamKuma · 16/12/2014 22:30

Thanks for the new thread. It's getting a bit like Now albums, the number seems to have got an awful lot bigger than I'd like it to be; I'm sure we were single figures when I started posting Wink

Pipbin · 16/12/2014 22:32

I was here before we were berries!

beakybeak · 16/12/2014 23:02

Oo lovely new thread Happy! Cheers

Sorry about shitty AF and family crap Tiger how did your dh get on with the i/v? I feel like it's gonna be a good year in the Tiger household in 2015 Xmas Smile

Happy wow that's not much for £1200!! Apparently the embryoscope is really good as they can predict which embryos will do better from it but my knowledge is limited

Pip did you not even have to pay for your prescriptions? I have paid the normal £8 for the buserelin so far, phew! I am also grateful for 3 ivfs and the FET's (if I get any frosties!) I am very lucky in that respect.

Rain my aunties cat has a duff diff detector! He sits on me all the effin time.

Tammy welcome! Sorry you are here though but it's the best place to be for the likes of us!

Me and dh are spending way too much time on dogs trust looking at the pooches. Tiger is it really really hard to take a pup back after fostering them for a while?

Pipbin · 16/12/2014 23:14

Nope Beaky all drugs were dispensed either by the clinic directly or posted to me.

Gillster · 16/12/2014 23:27

Thanks for the new thread Happy. Maybe add Barking and Funky when you get a chance? You can also add the up and coming treatment list with the necessary amendments.

Welcome Tammy, , make yourself comfy and hope you're not around for too long (in the nicest possible way). Xmas Smile

I've only paid prescription charges for my IVF drugs which were £40 for my fresh cycle and £16 for each FET. The only benefit of being such a good responder to oestrogen (the cause of all my bloody polyps) is that I still have a small vial of Menopur left which is in the fridge next to the beer!

It seems like the ball may be rolling in the hysteroscopy department. Got a phone call today booking me in for an appointment with the doc this Thurs and a pre op assessment appointment on the 23rd. Don't have a date for the op but wouldn't have thought it would be too long after the 23rd.

Do you have accommodation sorted for your new job Tiger or are you going to commute initially next year?

happylass · 16/12/2014 23:34

Maybe I should stop numbering the threads as its just depressing please don't let me still be here in another 25 threads time

Tiger I'm not sure why I've moved off the Cyclogest. Just trying something different to justify the extortionate cost I suspect.

Beaky on the last cycle we were told that the Embryoscope hadn't picked up any unusual activity in the development of any of our embies. I think it had though those embryos may not have been used.

I guess if we do need NHS treatment then at least well save £8 as there aren't any prescription charges here in Wales. The downside is, of course, that we have to wait 18 months to get the treatment Angry

OP posts:
beakybeak · 16/12/2014 23:45

Gill great news that your hysteroscopy may be soon! Fx for you.

Happy you had a really good grade of embies too didn't you? When does your next cycle start?

greatbigbushybeard · 17/12/2014 00:27

Healthcare at home were flipping shocking! We had them try to delude our Ivf drugs about 4 times, bloody hopeless. I'm convinced they probably wasted 3 lots of our drugs through missed deliveries on their part. The box was refrigerated so makes me think Some of them probably spoiled by spending too long out of the fridge. I said to our nurse about how bad they were & she did not sound at all surprised and said they were trying to switch their supplier as it's costing them loads. I didn't have to pay any prescription prices for our Ivf, only thing we paid for was to freeze one of our embryos just in case.

happy is that mumsnet on in the background on your laptop?

happylass · 17/12/2014 07:07

Ah good to know Bushy. If we do ever have another private cycle we'll definitely be getting our own drugs. We were told our meds came from a company called Stork but all the paperwork says BioMeds. Whacked a £55 service charge on to the bill as well cheeky feckers! Yes MN on the iPad. I'd just had a mammoth session sorting out the list!
Beaky I stop taking the Northisterone on Jan 8th which will cause a bleed a few days later. All being well I'll start stabbing on day 2/3 of that bleed so probably around Jan 13th.
Had a bit of a melt down last night. Think it was the sight of all the drugs followed by 2 FB pg announcements Sad
Only 3 more days left in school for me. Bring it on! Have a good one ladies!

OP posts:
Gillster · 17/12/2014 07:51

FB pg announcements are the worst Happy. Hugs.

I think Healthcare at Home are the ones who have delivered all my drugs in the past. Never had a problem with them so maybe some depots operate better than others.
