Still here, still struggling on, still hoping to get there in the end. Come on ladies, we'll all get our BFPs in 2015 (if not before)!

tweej your GP will probably start off by doing a range of blood test to check your hormone levels, most of them are done on CD2/3. The one to check for ovulation is often called the 'Day 21' test, though it really needs to be done 7 days before your period arrives, so if your cycle is usually 31 days it would be done on CD24.

The GP should also send your DH for sperm analysis. If no problems are found with any of those tests you'll likely be referred for an ultrasound and then a hycosy/HSG where they check if your tubes are blocked. Good luck!

Great thanks so much for letting me know. Actually feel relieved now that I'm being proactive. Fingers crossed it will all go smoothly.

LittlePoot · 10/02/2015 14:42

Welcome Tweej, but sorry you're in this boat with us. Good idea to get things moving at the Drs, but in our case it didn't make any difference as all the tests were pretty normal and didn't give us any reason why I'm STILL NOT BLOODY PREGNANT!!!! I'm glad we had all the tests done anyway, but they weren't as constructive as I'd been hoping they would be. Ah well.

Hope all's well with everyone else? DS is poorly so I've been off work past couple of days. Hopefully nothing serious - just a random virus I think.

Sorry about af CHendy, but it might be best to have one 'normal' ish cycle after your m/c to get everything back on track. I got pg with DS 2nd cycle after m/c so hopefully it'll be a lucky month for you too. 2nd cycle - nuts isn't it? And we didn't really even try 1st cycle. Now I'm on 20 something cycles and not a hint of a bfp. How can there be nothing wrong?! It just doesn't make any sense. Grrrrrr. Not having a very positive day today, can you tell?!

Tweej · 10/02/2015 15:01

Think you have hit the nail on the head there littlepoot I really don't expect tests to show anything but have to be sure. I conceived my little girl on the first month with ONE attempt. Really thought it would be the same this time around.

It's so frustrating ttc but really feel I will have another baby. Hopefully sooner than later.

Metalhead · 10/02/2015 15:11

Just baffling isn't it?! Even when you're left with 'unexplained' infertility, that doesn't mean there is nothing wrong just that the NHS tests can't pick it up. Not that that's any help either. Confused

Well, I don't think the soy is doing anything for me, CD14 today and no sign of ov yet so even an earlier dose hasn't brought it forward. Not sure if I'll bother again next cycle.

Sorry your DS is poorly little, hope he feels better soon!

I'm trying to distract myself from negative thoughts by Googling career options this week rather than conception-related topics, and I also start my volunteer job on Friday. Still can't quite stop obsessing though...

OP posts:
Tweej · 10/02/2015 15:26

Hmmm I ordered some soy last night although I'm pretty sure I ovulate on cd 14/15 each cycle.

Do you think they are worth trying Metal? If it's unexplained infertility are there no more options, what do they medics advise?

Metalhead · 10/02/2015 16:26

I'd say it can't hurt to try them, one of the ladies on here got her BFP first cycle using them after ttc for 18 months (could've been coincidence of course!). Don't expect any miracles though if you're already ovulating regularly.

There are other tests you can have for immune issues for example, but they're not done on the NHS.

Opk was nearly positive today, so hopefully I will manage to ov before Sunday when my parents arrive.

Afternoon all, and welcome to the new joiners.

Hopes were a bit up and down over the weekend - was a bit "this isn't what my period usually looks like, does that mean...?", but no, it didn't. Had the worst cramps I've ever had this week (I don't usually have any) so finding my diet a bit challenging (i.e. I'm eating everything in sight), but have booked a doctor's appointment and have decided that I'll try soy starting tonight in the interim. Here we go again!

crispiecrunchie · 11/02/2015 19:10

Well I have stepped away from the clear blue but did do a Tesco cheap test yesterday and got about the strongest line I have ever seen. I am still resisting makingn an appointment with the midwife.I'll be 7 weeks in Sunday so all being well will go for it next week... Still can't believe it though I'm certainly feeling pretty rough.

CHendy78 · 11/02/2015 20:15

That's good news crispie!
How many cycles should you leave it before going to the docs for tests then? I suppose I did actually get pregnant but it just didn't stick, would tests be different for that?
Keep going little, hard not to get down though especially when other people getting pregnant seemingly easily.
Metal, good idea to focus on the job hunt. Hope that goes well!
Trying to motivate myself to dtd, but soooooo tired. Due to ov next week but need get those little swimmers motility going. Whoever said romance is dead? ;-)

Metalhead · 11/02/2015 21:38

Thanks chendy. If you're not due to ov until next week, get an early night today and get back on the horse (or your DH, haha!) tomorrow.

As for tests, unfortunately some doctors 'reset the clock' once you've conceived, even if you then have a mc. In other words they might want you to ttc for another 6 or 12 months from now before they start tests. I'd probably leave it a few months and see what happens (we got my bloods done 6 months after my mmc).

Hang in there crispie, all sounds good so far!

BurningGubbins · 12/02/2015 06:31

That's great crispie!

I'm really shattered too Hendy. Managed to go to bed early last night but ended up chatting for a bit and then waking up for an hour in the middle of the night, which cancelled it all out! The alarm did not feel good this morning...

Brindler · 12/02/2015 10:52

Hi guys, bit late to the party but can I join please? Long time lurker and obsessive googler here. Month 24 of trying for #2. Hoping that sharing with others experiencing the same may help my crazy symptom spotting head!

I'm 34. Conceived DD1 first month of trying so I was totally spoilt there! Have been referred to fertility clinic although doubt they will be able to do much as tests came back fine apart from dh's morphology at 3% but fertility nurse did not seem too concerned by this as count/motility etc all good.

Am due af tomorrow (although can sometimes be a bit irregular) so desperately symptom spotting right now!

oneconfusedchick · 12/02/2015 11:27

Hi hope its ok to join too. I conceived DS on the first month of trying AND after having been on the pill for 10 years!! We have been trying (with a 3 month break) ever since DS was born 18 months ago. I only got my first period when he was 10 months old so to be honest we have only really been trying for 5 months although obv I could have gotten pregnant sooner whilst BF as some people do. I am always so tired from work and DS though that we are really not 'trying' that much if you know what I mean but I still expected to see a BFP by now! I have slightly irregular periods 38-35-33 days roughly. I think my last was 33 days. I am now on day 34 of this cycle. No period - I don't feel pregnant though. My last pregnancy I had tingling nipples as a sympton and I def don't have this. I tested on Tuesday and def negative. I kinda just wanna be pregnant now the whole trying/waiting thing is stressful!

oneconfusedchick · 12/02/2015 11:28

Brindler I am also symptom spotting and googling like mad!

JassyRadlett · 12/02/2015 13:01

I'll hang out with you symptom spotters. Though I think I've convinced myself the nausea is psychosomatic! AF not due until Monday/Tuesday so way too early to test really. Last time around I was nauseous from 3 weeks.

Confused - do you know when ovulation happened?

Good luck, brindler - any month might be the one, right?

CHendy78 · 12/02/2015 23:17

Well fingers crossed ladies. Metal I did wonder that about mc, as you say mught have to give it a few months again then go if nothing's occuring.
My sister just found out she's having a girl so at least have a new niece to look forward to x

JassyRadlett · 13/02/2015 05:07

Peed on the only stick in the house this morning, a CB digital one which I thought was totally pointless as AF not due until Monday at the earliest.

Not so pointless. Got a 5am bfp....

LittlePoot · 13/02/2015 07:10

Yay Jassy! Fantastic news.

oneconfusedchick · 13/02/2015 14:18

not sure when I ovulated - I was using these sticks but was a bit unsure of the results so left it - should get back on it but they ate a a bit pricey!

Metalhead · 13/02/2015 18:15

Congrats jassy, and welcome to the newbies.

Still no sign of ov for me (opks have been getting lighter again) so I'm planning to jump off the no booze wagon tonight, and this whole ttc business can just fuck off! (Can you tell I'm fed up...?)

CHendy78 · 13/02/2015 19:35

Congratulations Jassy, great news! Metal give yourself the night off. When are your parents coming?

EmperorTomatoKetchup · 13/02/2015 19:40

Congratulations Jassy!

Metalhead · 13/02/2015 19:47

They're coming on Sunday chendy. At least the guest bedroom is not directly next to ours... Wink
