Just thought I'd get the January bus started! The heaters on, the tunes are turned up and the seats are pretty comfy :)
I know there's a couple of others like myself who won't be POAS until January time so we have a bit of time to get cozy on the bus.
I'm Spam, my hubby is having a reverse vasectomy in a couple of weeks so my earliest hope of a BFP is 4/5th January :)

Is there room for a little one?
I am a teacher so going to be trying extra hard this month to aim for a September baby.
Pig river 32, TTC#1, cycle 6. Not a sniff so far despite getting slightly more militant each month!

I'm a teacher too!
Will also be trying extra hard in Jan :)

We have been 'seeing how it goes' for 6 months. As in we would like a sept/oct baby but would have been more that happy if it happened earlier. Started charting and using opks last months in preparation!

We've been trying for a year now, had a miscarriage in may. Having December off to get my head straight!

Can I be nosy and ask why you would like an sept/oct baby? Is it the theory that they do better at school, or does is just fit in better for your maternity leave? I'm interested as we aimed (and will be aiming for) an autumn baby too.

Sorry to hear that treacle, hope a nice break for Christmas is just what the Dr ordered :)
marys I'm not a teacher but I have a September baby and a July baby, so I have literally the oldest in the year and one of the babies of the year. The September child has done so much better at school etc as she turned 5 on her first day of Primary school, she was 'ready' to learn. She's very bright and loves learning. My youngest was 4 when she started Primary school and didn't turn 5 until the summer holidays. She's a complete opposite, she wants to play, has no attention span whatsoever, she's still mentally very young. You can really tell the difference between the autumn babies and summer babies. I'd love to get my BFP in January so I hopefully get another Autumn baby. The youngest was not ready to be starting school, I think she would have benefitted from another year at home.

It would fit better with maternity leave really. You can go back for the last week in July and get paid over the summer holiday. Also means you get to be off a full academic year and not have to take over a class half way through.
Autumn children do often do better academically but you have to pay for an extra years child care so that is the down fall. I would have been happy with an august baby as I would have saved a fortune in child are but it wasn't to be. Unless I have somehow managed to get upduffed this month!

That's really interesting, thanks spam . I definitely believe there's some truth in the theory -It's probably not publicised too much as it would put the maternity wards under a lot of pressure in autumn! We did our maternity ward 'tour' in the September (dd was born in the Nov) and they kept going on and on about how busy they were (not what you want to hear when you're 8 months pregnant yourself!). They put it down to the fact that Christmas and New Year were exactly nine months ago. .

Pigriver. I hadn't thought about the whole year of extra childcare. Very true. I still wanna be pregnant v soon!

Thank you ladies x
To be honest, I really dont care about due date as long as this one's a healthy baby.
Obviously sept is best for my maternity leave.

Treacle I'm with you! I started out wanting an autumn/ winter baby because of the school year thing, but by this point I really don't care - I just want a baby!
Good luck to everyone Smile

Hi all! I'm pretty new to mumsnet so great to find a thread with all of you guys doing similar things at the same time.

I'm 30 and this going to be our first time TTC. I came off the pill at the start of October and so far things seem to be working. Had my period and on Thurs had my first positive ovulation test! Yeh.

We're both teachers so aiming for a Sept/Oct baby! Fingers crossed!

Hi orangebud and melonmelon
Sorry to hear about your loss, Melon. Best of luck with TTC, we're starting in 19 days (not that I'm excited or anything ;) )
Checked my app today and my fertil period falls right over Christmas Day, hoping for a Christmas day conception ha ha! My eldest was conceived on my 21st birthday, my youngest was just a few weeks before my wedding!

My fertile period starts on the 29th which is my birthday. Not that we're counting the days hey! Are you using the Ovia app?

Report
EEvans · 01/12/2014 19:14

Hi MelonMelon.

I'm using the Ovia app, so far it's been pretty accurate! We're starting around the same time! First time ttc for us so feeling excited and nervous.

Report
spamanderson · 01/12/2014 19:26

I tried Ovia on my iPad but for some reason it only showed me part of the screen?! On the calendar it cut off the last day of every week and the end part of every line of text :( can't figure out why at all! I've tried tonnes of them :( I'm now using Glow which seems to be ok. fertility Friend was my favourite but you only get a month free and I'm too tight to pay for it on top of all the other conception stuff
My fertile days run from the 22nd - 28th according to Glow :) and then BFP would be due 6th Jan :)

It's our first time ttc too, my pregnancy which ended in miscarriage was the result of a happy accident which sadly wasn't meant to be, we'd always intended to start at the end of this year just 4 more weeks to wait! I find Ovia good too, really interested seeing all the changes that happen throughout your cycle.
