The December 2014 bus is here armed with mulled wine, mince pies, mistletoe and a sack-full of BFPs

This bus is for anyone ttc hoping to get a BFP in December.

I know it's super early, but as I'm currently on a 2 month enforced break from ttc following a ruptured ectopic, December is the next bus I can catch.

Do feel free to come and join me on the journey.

Welcome ceerkay

Took my first temperature today. It's funny how exciting trying new things can be! I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to that. Anyway I'm not so good at waking up in the morning so I didn't take it as soon as I woke up because I dozed for a few times at first. And I was coughing while taking it but as its the first temp I've nothing to compare it to yet. Be good to start looking at trends :)

spinningirl10 · 14/11/2014 09:54

Ceerkay hello and welcome, hope your journey on the buses is a short oneGrin

Dozy, welcome to the world of temping, I warn you, it's another thing to become obsessive overSmile

Dozygirl · 14/11/2014 11:03

Haha I can imagine!! After waking up and falling back to sleep I dreamt I had done it already lol.

MaMaPo · 14/11/2014 11:08

I quite like temping. I like the confirmation that ov has happened - and even though I hate it, I do appreciate the temp drop that hints that AF is on its way... Plus I am also a bit geeky in terms of enjoying the collection of data points!

knittedmittens · 14/11/2014 11:08

Welcome ceerkay

I'm going to poas (OPK) for the first time today. Fx I don't get too obsessive!

DizzyNorthernBird · 14/11/2014 11:18

Welcome ceerkay, I'm also new to the world of ttc, joined the site about a month ago to find out what it's all about. I've found plenty of thread lurking on the conception board will quickly bring you up to speed, and everyone is lovely so if you aren't sure about something, just ask! Smile. Plus you can click near the top of the page on 'acronyms' for a list of abbreviations, as I found these baffling to begin with!!

tessiegirl · 14/11/2014 11:56

Big welcome ceerkay!

Nothing really going on here with me - CD4 and AF still hanging around. Will start POAS in the next couple of days as I like to be nice and early!! Grin

tessiegirl · 14/11/2014 12:02

Oh and I agree with you Dozygirl that 'The Impatient Women's Guide to Getting Pregnant' wasn't a huge help in learning anything new. The only thing it does is to dispel some of those worrying statistics and puts things into perspective... I am finding 'Taking Charge of Your Fertlity' much more helpful - especially for explain temping and looking out for CM changes

SueBridehead · 14/11/2014 12:30

I'm on cycle day 6 and might start temping tomorrow. Do you literally just stick it in your mouth? How long for? am excited to see when my normal ovulation day is as really not sure as seen to have ewcm for a few days and no other symptoms. My cycles are quite long though so always presumed if was quite late.

SueBridehead · 14/11/2014 12:31

Am also starting dtd every other day tomorrow( and every day over fertile period). Am trying very hard as would LOVE for it to happen before Christmas.

spinningirl10 · 14/11/2014 12:37

Sue, you have to take it after 3 hours uninterrupted sleep and before you move, try and take it at the same time everyday. Mine beeps after about a minuteGrin

TrixieRay · 14/11/2014 12:48

Sue, I stick mine under my tongue to make sure I get an accurate temp.

Ladies I saw a car with reg BFP on the way home yesterday. Was reading and happened to look up just as we passed it- it's a sign. It has to be Grin

CD6 here. To OPK or not to OPK that is the question...torn between wanting to try and pinpoint ov vs going for a laid back approach Confused

tessiegirl · 14/11/2014 15:48

Sue As the other ladies have said take your temp at the same time every morning BEFORE you get out of bed - I keep my thermometer right next to me on the bedside table so when my alarm wakes me at 7am (yes, even at the weekends!) I grab it whilst still half asleep! Just stick it under your tongue until it beeps, then I make a note of the reading before I fall back to sleep usually! Later I will plot it on my bbt chart. The thermometer I use also very briefly flashes up the last temp reading you took when you turn it on so if I want to check I noted the correct numbers down I can check this again.
When ovulation happens you should see a rise in your temperature. Last cycle I used opks to find out when they detected my LH surge and the surge happened when my temp rose.

SueBridehead · 14/11/2014 16:11

Thanks guys, I'll let you know how I get on with it. Does your temperature rise after ovulation or when you ovulate (eg when it's higher should you have dtd the day before or that day? )

Spanielpuppy · 14/11/2014 16:40

I'm in, although not much hope has ds took 3 1/2 years. This is only cycle 2.

But here's hoping for lots of ?????? BFP

spamanderson · 14/11/2014 19:06

:( I'm definitely off the December bus :( hubby went for his op today and vomited all over the surgical team :/ they had to stop and he's now booked in again for 3 weeks time. Just hope they don't think they're charging us again when we go back :/ feeling pretty devastated, I'd got my hopes up so much to start trying in 2 weeks time, not it's going to be more like Christmas time. I know it's silly but we've had our adoption plans fall through and now this... Feels like maybe the universe is trying to tell us something!

knittedmittens · 14/11/2014 20:44

Sorry to hear that Spam. It's horrible when you think you have a plan and it gets wrecked Sad

Fingers crossed for a January BFP for you Thanks

tessiegirl · 14/11/2014 21:30

Oh dear, so sorry to hear that Spam Keeping my fingers crossed for you both

Sue - when a rise is detected ovulation actually took place the cycle day before the rise. So for example I had a temp rise on CD15 last cycle but I ovulated on CD14 as confirmed by fertility friend. According to the book 'Taking Charge Of Your Fertility' it is best to DTD every day from the first day of egg white cm through to and including the day of the rise in temperature. Temps will stay higher in the second half of your cycle (post ovulation) until AF or will continue to stay high which indicates a BFP!

butterflycats · 14/11/2014 22:15

n1kkil it's been since May! Some GPs will test after 3 months, others 6! It's going to be Sod's law now that it will all sort itself out this month but that's fine by me!!!

spamanderson · 14/11/2014 22:37

Thanks girls :) real anti-climax kind of day :( thank goodness I only have 1 cake to do on the day of his op, I'd already booked a week out for my birthday. At least he should be all healed in time for Xmas and he'll be healed up just before my fertile days in December :) got my fingers crossed for the ladies hoping for bfps between now and Christmas :D

MaMaPo · 14/11/2014 22:42

Oh spam, what a pain? Was it just a reaction to the anaesthetic? I hope he's feeling better. Here's to a Jan BFP for you.

Off for a night away with DH at a swanky country hotel, where we got married 5 years and 1 week ago. Gourmet dinner, spa, sleeping in (and getting some non-TTC DTD in too) is on the menu. And no toddler!

tessiegirl · 14/11/2014 22:56

Aww a night away sounds lovely MaMaPo - enjoy!!

Dozygirl · 15/11/2014 00:47

Enjoy mamapo

butterfly I hope u get answers or AF arrives soon. That must be so frustrating just being in limbo for all that time! I think I should have said I was having problems not getting my periods in order to get tests done sooner but I'm too honest. That's what one of my friends said when she thought something was up but couldnt get tested. It worked coz she ended up on Clomid and I met her new little baby today :)

Fx AF shows for u too nik or that u ovulate anyway

Dozygirl · 15/11/2014 00:48

n1kil sorry couldn't remember how u spelt your name

SueBridehead · 15/11/2014 07:01

Thanks Tessie!

And sorry to hear that spa. I hope you can enjoy this month anyway and make the most of lots of non ttc activities such as lots of Christmas drinking! Fingers crossed for next cycle.
