Well that's it. After 13 years of being on the pill I am now not. For various reasons I didn't come off a few months ago to allow my cycle to get back to "normal" (who knows what that is when I was on the pill twice as long as I had periods naturally) so I have no idea how long it'll take me to ovulate. Anyone else in the same boat? Having spent my whole adult life assuming I'd get pregnant just by looking at a boy without BC I am now realising it might actually take months or even years to conceive. Plus I'm not talking about this with friends; they either got pregnant vv quickly or are no where near that stage. So, would be great to hear from a few of you in the same boat...

sorry to hear you're not sure about your cycle joey. hope you're able to clear things up soon.

Lastminute, I'm not having trouble with alcohol, but am having issues with caffeine. I love tea and coke (its horrible stuff but it tastes so yummy!)

hope you either get af or a bfp on Thursday pinkie.

Shellbell0403 · 06/10/2014 19:52

According to Ovia im supposed to be fertile today but no mucus!! Strange!! Anyone have this issue? I'm on second cycle cxx

Emz1989 · 06/10/2014 23:22

Hey shellbell we seem to be in the same boat! Cycle 2 and ovia says I should be ovulating but I'm assuming my af hasn't regulated properly yet as I only stopped taking bc mid August and certainly haven't had any ovulation symptoms (although haven't tracked bbt or used opk so could be wrong!) Plenty of dtd action the last few days though, just incase!!!

adora1985 · 06/10/2014 23:35

I've got the Ovia and FM apps, and both tell me different things, the Ovia app says ov is this week and FM says it's not until late next week. It's my first month using Ovia and I have long cycles, I put this into the info section on the app, but it's just reverted to a standard 28 day cycle for me, so isn't taking into account any of the info I've put in.
Just to be sure I'm using opks and we're dtd every other day to cover the fertile days both apps are showing.

Shellbell0403 · 07/10/2014 21:49

It's all so confusing!! I stopped taking bc mid aug too before my wedding! It took until day 35 before my first AF after coming off bc! Maybe the symptoms will come.... Any joy your end?

What's everyone's thoughts on juice plus like diets if trying to conceive?xx

Ainat266 · 07/10/2014 22:53

Hmm... My opinion re diets is basically, well, healthy eating. Ensuring you are getting everything into your diet in healthy amounts. What's a juice plus diet? Could you meet all your nutritional needs? If your juicing would you be getting carbs and proteins? (Sorry, other than the standard eating healthy answer I'm not great at this sort of advice).

My nipples are sensitive today. Not majorly so, but definitely more than normal. Come on AF. Show up already!

Ainat266 · 07/10/2014 22:55

*you're. Sometimes I wish mumsnet had an edit button, even if it was one where you can only edit the post a few minutes after posting it. I hate seeing silly mistakes in my posts just after I posted them!

(Maybe I should just learn to preview my posts!)

Joey0805 · 08/10/2014 10:38

I'm so confused (and a bit depressed). I've had a teeny bit of spotting first thing in the morning for 3 days and some vv mild cramps (if you can call them that) but this morning nothing at all, just a little bit of creamy CM. I have no idea If AF is showing up or of that counts as an AF or when to start using my CBFM. So fed up! Have any of you guys had anything similar? I thought the spotting would turn into AF but it doesn't look like it's going to given it appears to have stopped!!!

OP posts:
TheProofIsInThePudding · 08/10/2014 14:01

Joey what CD are you on/how many DPO? That doesn't sound like it counts as AF. Some ladies do get spotting like that regularly, some don't. I have it sometimes, but not every cycle. Have you recently stopped taking the pill? This could be your new normal. If you are worried about it, just go and visit your GP.

Joey0805 · 08/10/2014 14:39

I stopped taking the pill late August, currently CD33 but pre pill I had 21 day cycles. I totally agree this must be caused by coming off the pill and I think if AF isn't here by next wknd I will HK and see a Doctor...I just sort of thought the spotting would lead to a period (even though I've never had it before) and it just hasn't.

Hi girls not posted for a few weeks but I'll give you an update. After my first month of trying and getting very stressed and upset when AF appeared i have decided to not come on here as much and not look at my Ovia app and just DTD every opportunity and breaaaathhheee. I'll let you know how i get on :s haha. Good luck ladies xxx

Ainat266 · 08/10/2014 22:15

Heya Emily, good to see you. Keep up all updated every so often. :-)

af has got to show up soon right? I'm on cd 38, feeling sick, feeling cranky and getting annoyed with people over stupid things, cramping, headaches, heartburn. its driving me crazy!!!

joey, what's hk? I hope AF comes soon for you, but yeah, good to get yourself checked out at the doctors. :-)

Joey0805 · 09/10/2014 07:28

Ainat- errrrrr no idea!!! But here's hoping we both get AF soon, this is so tds. An so wishing I hadn't listened to all my friends who said their cycles went straight back to normal and they got pregnant right away!! If I were doing this again if have come off 3-4 months ago and just used condoms until we were ready to TTC.

Emilyjane - nice to hear from you!!! Love the chilled approach, let us know how you get on...

TheProofIsInThePudding · 09/10/2014 14:32

Ainat I'd be very tempted to POAS (again?) if I were in your situation. But getting cranky with people does usually mean that AF is on her way for me. I do sympathise with you both as my cycles are on the long side.

Shellbell I'm generally not impressed by faddy diets like juicing at the best of times, but even more so when TTC/pregnant. Eat a variety of good wholesome foods, plenty of fruit and veg, a treat now and then, watch your portion sizes and exercise regularly.

Instead of thinking that I'm still only 5DPO, I'm trying to use the perspective that tomorrow it's only one week until I plan to test (as long as AF hasn't arrived early). It may or may not be helping!

Joey0805 · 09/10/2014 15:41

Ainat - I think I'm going to POAS on Saturday just to rule it out (would be 15 DPO which I think means would defo show up on a test?) and then will start using OPKs just in case that weird start to the week does count as an AF; unlikely I know but I'd hate to miss the month.

Totally agree on the diet front; healthy, nourishing food has to be the best way to prep a body for a baby, anything juice based I would imagine struggles to give a full set of nutrients.

So AF was due today, if I had luckily gone straight back to a 28 day cycle. Yesterday there was a slight pinkish colour when I wiped once, nothing since. Last night I got dizzy, sweaty and had horrendous cramps and was on the loo for half hour, unable to move! Then was fine again. No AF so far today. I still have a twingey cramp on the left since suspected ovulation. I did a negative test Monday, if no show tomorrow would you do another? Obviously I don't know when AF will show as first cycle after pill.

Joey0805 · 09/10/2014 17:19

Pinkie how many days ago did your ovulation happen?

OP posts:
purplebiro · 09/10/2014 17:39

Hi all - in the same boat but have been taking it a bit slowly until now:

Had (non minerva) coil removed at the end of April - no period between then and mid July and very irregular since. They were very irregular when I was younger (had coild from when I was 17 - not the same one, I hasten to add - I'm 33 now) and I've had a PCOS diagnosis (scan) and put on a lot of weight since then. So since April every time I've been overdue my AF I've been testing like mad and come up negative and AF has eventually come.

Eventually resigned myself to the fact that nothing was going to happen until I'd lost some weight but that we'd keep doing the dirty without condoms while I did (lost about 1.5 stone so far) and then refocus towards the end of the year...

But now I think I'm overdue - not recorded when last period was, plus being so irregular it's hard to tell anyway - and I've got a bunch of other symptoms (see my other thread) so will test today. Had wanted to hold off because I'm just a bit over the negative tests...

pinkie1982 · 09/10/2014 22:46

If on a 28 day cycle ovia predicted Friday 25th sept. From the Thursday night for 6 days I had bad pain on my left abdo, lower back, felt bloated and no appetite. Then all of that went and I've had a niggling pain/cramp on the left until the last few days.

TheProofIsInThePudding · 09/10/2014 23:37

I'm afraid that all you can do, ladies, is take a test and see what it says.

Well done on the weight loss purplebiro and good luck to you too pinkie!

Ainat266 · 10/10/2014 00:03

congrats on the weight loss purple. did you do a test in the end? X

cd39 and ovia thinks that I'll be in my fertile window tomorrow onwards. Go figure. I did have that spotting on day 29 but it was very light and only lasted a couple hours.. that can't have been af. I poas loads from about cd26 to 33 and kept getting annoyed with negatives so stopped..

on a different note, does anyone have a cure for heartburn? I seem to be getting it a lot lately. :-(

Joey0805 · 10/10/2014 10:59

Pinkie - so according to that you'd be 15 DPI today, time to take a test! Let us know!!!

Ainat - I agree that shouldn't be AF but a friend of mine (who is 20 weeks now) came off pill, had a 1 day light bleed 4 weeks later which she assumed wasn't AF and then didn't come on for 4 weeks after that, took a test and got BFP so for her, it was enough to cause her body to start a new cycle. Are you using OPKs? I am because I have no clue what's going on right now and they can at least let me know if and when I ovulate, at the moment there's no normal cycle length for me to estimate it myself!

OP posts:
SummerMeadow33 · 10/10/2014 11:51

Hi Joey. Was on pill for 15 years came off it almost two years ago, periods totally insanely irregular as they were before I went on it as a teen, almost to the point of being backwards (3 weeks on, 1 off), but got pregnant after four months of SWOI this year. Grin

pinkie1982 · 10/10/2014 15:32

Tested this morning - negative.
Still no AF. Just have to wait for it to show. Very unnerving I must say after all this time knowing exactly when it would be!
On the plus side, this is the first day since stopping the pill that I have no aches or pains or uncomfortable-ness or feeling nauseas! Just tired.

Joey0805 · 11/10/2014 18:44

BFN for me but I'm not remotely surprised. As well as the preggo test I also started my CBFM testing yest in case the spotting was in fact a light AF and this morning I got a high reading from the monitor so now rrreeeeaaallllyyyy hoping I'm nicely onto cycle 2 and fx for a peak in next few days!!!
