Hello Ladies!

Thought I'd try and get some of the 20+ hopeful Mummies together.

My lovely DP and I don't want to let on that we're TTC so I'm lacking friends and a chit chat about all the downstairs what not. DP will die inside if he has to hear about cycles/ovulation or temperatures anymore!

Let's get some BFPs going!

Beaver I wouldn't worry about it :) maybe once you have one they'll all get broody!

Bubalou I know so many people who made a mistake having one. Not many of my friends children were planned. A few of them fell pregnant within a couple of months of being with their partner.

Morning girls! Today is cycle day 29 for me. No af yet. Will test at the weekend if still not here by then. Hope you all have a nice day!xx

roughtyping · 06/08/2014 08:43

My issue is I never know when to test as my cycle is irregular and I never really know when I'm due. Sometimes Only have a period once every two months. I know it can take up to a year for cycle to settle down after coming off of pill though... But it's so frustrating!

Tylastar · 06/08/2014 10:45

Oooooo how exciting IP :D

Oh rough that must be a struggle! Do you just test at a similar time each month or just throughout?

I've been having loads of aches and pains during this 2ww wait so far!

Hi i'm 28 and will be ttc dc2 from sept when my depo injection runs out. I'm really confused about all this as 2 previous pregnancies have happened first time but this time depo will obviously effect things been on since DS was born 2.5 years ago. I've asked GP how I know when I'm ovulating if I'm not getting periods but he's told me not to worry about that since I have a history of easy conception just to relax and test once a month until my period returns.

Can anyone explain how you know when is the best time?

roughtyping · 06/08/2014 11:30

tyla I just test if I feel like I should've had a period by now lol. Not very scientific!!!

Raines100 · 06/08/2014 13:16

Can I join, too, or is it only mummies ttc #1?
I'm also 27, but we're going to start ttc #3 next month. I'm wary of the whole charting thing because it's easy to get obsessed and down about it all. We had m/c 2008 and took 6 months to conceive DS1- I think because I was so desperate. Determined to stay relaxed this time.

lp2014 · 06/08/2014 13:18

Afternoon everyone. Thats af got me xx

squiish · 06/08/2014 13:20

Hi all, newbie here! I'm in the same boat. Cant discuss TTC with anyone other than DP and would love to! Did let it out to my closest friend as she asked but other than that I don't want to talk about it in case of problems.
TTC #1 and this is 2nd month after coming off my pill end of May. DP and I are very impatient characters :)

Can you point me in the direction of a list of acronyms?! Ha.

roughtyping · 06/08/2014 18:05

raines nope, I'm TTC#2 (with a 10 year gap!)

bubalou · 06/08/2014 18:25

Toughtyping - I'm ttc no2 with a 6 year gap - it's nice to find someone else in a similar boat.

I get spoke to like I'm an alien because I only have one who's now 6 and people just ask me ALL the time about a second one. I even get told how I 'can't have another one because the gaps now too big'! Etc. grrrr Confused

We're keeping it a secret as we don't want the extra pressure. I've just told my bf for now as she is very chilled and level headed so a nice person to talk to about it if I need.

I feel so uneasy about doing it again after such a long time - 6 years of being a parent, it seems like DS was born forever ago.

I can't imagine having a newborn again.

bubalou yes I feel like stuff has changed so much since DS was a baby! DH & I just got married last year so everyone (including people at work I barely know) constantly asks if I'm pregnant. Which is sort of heartbreaking because I wish I was. My mum is the worst for it though! She came with me to buy DS's school shoes the other day, we were in a Clarks inside a Mothercare and she was saying 'Oooh I'm going to start looking at prams for you' etc. grr!

Loiterer · 06/08/2014 19:32

Sorry to hear that IP.

ClaireFraser · 06/08/2014 19:40

I'm 29, DH is 30, ttc #1. We're on the third cycle of trying and currently in the 2WW, only ten days til I can test...!

I also use ovia, it's a useful app I would say, but I'm only using it as a guide rather than gospel. I've also been using OPKs and have found that I ovulate a couple of days later than I (and the app) thought. So useful to have them as a confirmation.

My DH is a farmer so is working stupidly long hours at the moment - think 7am til 12pm or later! - so it's really useful to have a fairly accurate idea of whether I can let him just go to sleep or whether I jump him!

Tylastar · 06/08/2014 20:43

Hello everyone :) And welcome to the new ladies!

I'm having lots of belly and back pains I don't normally get and AF/BFP is still a week away!

I think I'm reading too much into it!

Oh No IP! Sorry the evil AF appeared!

Sorry lp totally missed your post, boo.

bubalou · 06/08/2014 21:10

Sorry ip. Hmm

Roughtyping - yes same here. Every time I feel slightly unwell all I get is are you pregnant?

I know my family are dying for another little one but it's so much pressure hence keeping ttc a secret.

I might punish them all for the 6 years of asking about another one constantly - I think when / if we do get pregnant again I won't tell them until I go into labour!!!

lp2014 · 06/08/2014 21:19

Thanks girls.

roughtyping · 06/08/2014 22:08

Good punishment ;) I didn't find out with DS until I was around 22ish weeks (can't remember exactly now - v close to 24 weeks, and all that entails), which was scary at 17! Would be scary at any age. I had semi-regular bleeding throughout thst whole time, so I'm naturally quite wary of believing my periods.

bubalou · 06/08/2014 23:22

Oh wow roughtyping! You poor thing!

I am very close to my mum and sister so I can't imagine not running to tell them straight away but it will be nice to keep it between us for a while.

I don't want to jinx it but I'm already coming up with fun ways to break the news! We often have them round for dinner or a takeaway so I like the idea of those special custom fortune cookies you can buy. I want to switch them for the ones they usually give out at the Chinese so when the meal had ended and they open them they will see a message saying 'expect a new member of the family in 2015' or something similar.

wanttobeamummyin2015 · 07/08/2014 06:34

Beaver - I will be alone too! But not too worried as you will meet new people and mummy friends at ante-natal etc. my cousin recently had a baby and was the first out of friends and family but she now has lots of friends with babies to share tips etc from her NCT classes :) and there is always mumsnet!

Beaverfeaver2 · 07/08/2014 10:10

Thanks wanttobe
I hadn't thought of that.

Cycle day 35 now and still nothing...

I'm going away for anniversary celebration on Saturday night so no doubt AF will arrive just in time for that!

roughtyping · 07/08/2014 10:59

beaver that's always the way! Boo! :(

I was not the first of my friends to have a baby, a friend's girlfriend had a baby 3 months before me. I think that maybe pushed us together when we maybe wouldn't have been close otherwise. I don't keep in touch with her really any more but have lots of other 'mum' friends. Most of my friends don't have kids though. Don't worry about it, really!

roughtyping · 07/08/2014 11:00

bubalou have you seen the video going round Facebook just now, with the coca cola bottles? So clever! My sister's friend announced it on FB with a picture of 'mum' and 'dad' coke bottles and said something like 'not until c(x date) but we like to be organised' which I thought was quite sweet.
