TheGrandHighWitch · 09/06/2014 09:28

Hi everyone, I know this is probably a bit early (since it isn't July yet) but I thought I would start a new thread for those who lost their tickets for previous busses and for those who are beginning their bus journey now. Please feel free to add your stats to the list and grab a good seat while you can. Best of luck to everyone TTC and I look forward to getting many BFP's posted on here.

Exciting and terrifying at the same time. I hate not being in control of any situation, so am finding this really tough! I'm hoping that I will be more relaxed this cycle, but in all honesty this is unlikely.

Foscar I feel your pain re working away. My DH was away just as I should have been poas last cycle. In the end AF put an end to the when-to-test dilemma by turning up a day early Sad. Fingers crossed for a better outcome for you!

notoasthere · 22/06/2014 17:47

sparkle I just ordered some cheapies off amazon - think you can do a half and half ov/pregnancy test bundle for less too :)

KittyVonCatsington · 22/06/2014 17:52

Hi MrsI and Brixton - welcome! The buses are a good place to start and we can all take this crazy journey together!

Wine sounds like your body is just preparing itself for a new start-mine did the same. Quite fitting as we could get Spring babies and I like 'new beginning' feeling of that!

sparkle - this is my two pence worth on OPKs. If you have a normal cycle and are ovulating normally, ClearBlue digital OPKs are a popular choice as the solid smiley faces are easy to read. I didn't get on with them as I don't generally have normal cycles and was literally pissing 40 quid a month away and getting confused readings, such as flooded windows, endless flashing smiley faces and the one proper solid smiley I got was in the afternoon not FMU as they suggest.
Bluesky - Thatwas my same experience with you-the two lines on the CB Digi were practically the same in the morning but still got a flashing smiley. Thought I'd test in the afternoon and got my smiley then.

So I now use the Internet cheapie OneStep OPKs from Amazon, about 3 pound for 50. They work perfectly for me and I don't drink from about 1pm and when I get home from work, I use them straight away. HTH!!

Foscar - doubling up on husbands might be the way to increase all our chances Wink

MrsE - jeepers-I know you need to live up to your username but really, is there anything you can't do??!! please send me a slice

Blueskygirl30 · 22/06/2014 17:56

Haha Foscar I don't think I'd have the energy to entertain more than one husband! It would make things easier when TTC though if you had a selection of sperm!

sparkle I have tried 2 different OPKs, I got some when I had my implant out as I wanted to make sure I was actually ovulating, having heard some horror stories from other people. I got some really cheap ones from the Internet, they were £5.49 for 30 from amazon. And I also got a 5 pack half price from super drug of more expensive ones. The really cheap ones work fine, just make sure you have some plastic cups to pee in and dip it in therefor the full ten seconds. Then they take 10 minutes to be able to read. The super drug ones are good as they are ready in 3 minutes if you're in a rush.

MrsExtraOrdinary · 22/06/2014 18:18

Bluesky I'm moving too. We've only just had our mortgage offer it's been a nightmare! I hope you haven't found it as stressful as me?

Kitty it does look very tempting but I'm not sure my churny tummy is up to it? And yes the one thing I can't do is sick! My dc are well trained in the art of looking after themselves in that area. I'm hopeless and I'm no good at flying either. I nearly broke dhs arm on the way back from NY.

Blueskygirl30 · 22/06/2014 18:31

MrsExtraOrdinary congratulations on your mortgage offer! I hope it goes more smoothly for you from here on! It's not been too stressful for us, were borrowing well within our means and we are buying a new build house so there's no real rush as we can't move until October. Everything has been going slowly but I've not been stressing about it at all.

I'm just watching Raising Sextuplets, OMG, that looks like HARD work!!

Do you ladies treat your bodies like you're pregnant on the TWW? I was just having a lovely hot bath and I googled what I should do during the TWW....avoid hot baths was tip #1 so I quickly jumped out again. Avoid strenuous exercise was tip #2....so Should I cancel my spinning class tomorrow?

BrixtonBunny · 22/06/2014 18:36

Hi bluesky, I'm currently having same dilemma about whether to treat body differently - I'm panicking as I'm going on good friend's hen weekend next weekend, and really don't want to drink (but also don't yet want to be seen not drinking if that makes sense?). Have cut out booze & caffeine but that's about it so far. I can't believe a bath would be bad... so much to learn googles anxiously Hmm

FoscarC · 22/06/2014 18:48

I am in similar predicament. Still drinking coffee but trying to only have 2 a day max. Just retuned from honeymoon where I drank every day but not drinking now I'm back. And went for a run this morning although cancelling my more acrobatic fitness classes this week just in case as they involve a lot of smacking in the belly area (not as weird as it sounds - pole dancing and aerial hoop - but you end up getting hit in the tummy by pole and hoop and covered in bruises. Not as sexy as it's reputation makes you believe). Also meant to be cycling London to Brighton night ride in a month. Suppose with that one I'll see if I get a BFP or not. Although I still need to train.
I've heard that you have a 'get out of jail free' week the first week after conception where drinking a bit etc doesn't matter too much. But I am trying to do as I should. Just feel like I don't want to give up all that I enjoy when I may not even be preggers.
I am trying to convince myself I'm not so I'm not disappointed if I am not and part of that is carrying on as normal. If I do the whole shebang of cutting out everything and stop exercising and am not pregnant I'll be really p*ssed off and probably look like I'm pregnant.

Blueskygirl30 · 22/06/2014 19:03

I drank this weekend as I was at a friends wedding. I didn't get too drunk, just a few glasses of wine on Friday and Saturday. I don't normally drink a lot so I won't drink again for the next 2 weeks but I didn't want to raise suspicions and also I wanted to enjoy the weekend. I think I will probably go to spin class still a couple of times this week as I'm sure it must be better for you to exercise than to not exercise surely? I might change my mind on that though as just go to the gym instead so my heart rate doesn't go too mad!

TheGrandHighWitch · 22/06/2014 19:05

Hi Blueskygirl30 and BrixtonBunny. I don't treat myself as pg until I get a positive test. I figure there isn't much point as I would be spending half the year (or hopefully much less lol) denying myself stuff. That being said, I don't smoke or do any drugs and I barely drink (tonight being a rare exception) so it isn't much of a sacrifice. The hot baths thing is similar to the advice against hot tubs because it can cause neurological damage to a developing baby (iirc). As far as I recall if your skin turns pink/red then it is too hot. Wrt the drinking, I am of the opinion that one every so often is fine especially for a special occasion. But everyone is different and some may not be comfortable with that.

OP posts:
Treaclepie19 · 22/06/2014 19:08

Ladies don't get stressed about it. Like grand says, you could be depriving yourself for a very long time.

As long as you're careful when you are pregnant you're giving your baby the best chance.

BrixtonBunny · 22/06/2014 19:11

That's all very reassuring, thanks all!

Blueskygirl30 · 22/06/2014 19:17

Thank you grand and Treacle. I'm generally pretty healthy anyway so there's not much I'd need to change about my lifestyle if/when I get my BFP so I guess that means there's not much to do differently now anyway. I guess that because I've been waiting since last November to even start TTC, not being able to do anything at all except for getting my body healthy and taking folic acid, now that I'm actually TTC I was to be actively doing something (other than the obvious!!) to try and achieve the BFP! I'm going to stop going mad now and have a baby-thought free evening. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday ladies!

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a lovely weekend. Have been checking in on my phone over the weekend but not had a chance to sit down and write until now.

It's funny that behaviour during the 2ww has come up as that has been at the back of my mind....had a lovely catch up with some friends yesterday and planned to take it easy but once the wine and pimms started flowing (first time having pimms- why have I never had it before, yummy!!) that went right out the window - queue big hangover and junk food binge. Oh well, on the whole I have a pretty good diet but love my Wine tend to drink during the first week or so of my cycle and then try and cut back a bit after Ov. Don't drink caffeine anyway or do strenuous exercise. I mentioned behaviour during the 2ww to my GP recently and he said to keep on as usual until you get a BFP.

CD11 here and still getting 'low' readings on my CBFM.

Welcome to the newbies who have hopped on over the weekend Smile
