Hi

I have just been diagnosed with high nk cells by dr shehata - my treatment plan is prednisolone and intralipids - bit scared about the pred and the possible dude effects so hope I can find some companionship here!

freelancegirl · 19/07/2014 07:23

Hi sunny! Welcome to the thread. There are lots of us here who've had babies with Mr S. well not with him per se, but you know what I mean :)

Please don't worry about the Pred. What dosage are you on? A lot of us find that 25mg is actually quite good and although can affect sleep (prepares you for kids :) ) is quite a good energy boost! 40mg isn't much fun but you only go up to that if you're very high and also when pregnant and start tapering at 9 weeks. So you're on 40 for 5 weeks until you start to taper.

sunnyday01 · 19/07/2014 08:32

Thanks free

I only found this all out on Monday so been in a bit of a head spin since then but starting to get my head round it now. I've had 2 miscarriages in the past 18 months so really hoping dr s plan works for me!

I will be on 25mg of pred - so hoping it won't affect t me too much - I've missed thus cycle so will be starting it next time round.

Also been given letrozole to boost ovulation if I want to use it but not decided yet - may have a couple more months of trying naturally first. It's scary and exciting at the same time!

freelancegirl · 19/07/2014 09:57

I like to think it's a good thing to have a diagnosis especially after two miscarriages rather than having to go through a third and wait around for the NHS to refer you to someone that might not even treat for NKC. At least you now have a plan of action. But yes - scary and exciting all at the same time!

I think the only time 25mg gets tedious is when you have been trying for several months and nothing happens. But that can be pretty tedious for many reasons! I have had one child already on the treatment and am 16 weeks pregnant with what will hopefully be my second (7th pregnancy all together).

I lost the thread again :/
team huge congratulations!!
Waves to all x

sunnyday01 · 19/07/2014 12:51

My gp was really good and referred me to the local hospital after 2 but we had a bad experience and the consultant was crap so after a few months of feeling rubbish about it decided to be proactive!

It's so good on here to see people with success stories on the programme - gives some hope!

Have you had intralipids too? I'm quite worried about those!

Mel3062 · 19/07/2014 13:01

I have intralipids every month sunny days and it's harmless x

sunnyday01 · 19/07/2014 15:14

I'm worried about just sitting there for 2 hours! Is it in a private room?

Mel3062 · 19/07/2014 15:18

Depends where you have it done. I have mind at home with a nursing agency so it's quite relaxing!

sunnyday01 · 19/07/2014 16:55

Ah I have to go to Epsom to dr s office

Mel3062 · 19/07/2014 17:00

I've had it their too and it was a private room, was quite nice to lay and read my book. It's so expensive though a lot of people in London go to independent nursing services as it's £104 there but you'd need the prescription. He may let you do it through healthcare at home, same cost as mr s but in your own home x

sunnyday01 · 19/07/2014 17:17

Oh that's interesting to know - I thought I had yo have it there! We live in northamptonshire so have the added cost of getting to Epsom so if can have if at home that would be so much better!

Mel3062 · 19/07/2014 17:36

You can but ask! Were in York so a trek! I was born in Kettering :)

sunnyday01 · 19/07/2014 19:26

Kettering is just down the road from us as we live in thrapston! I thought we had a trek but even further from York - dud you just ask dr s if there was an alternative?

Mel3062 · 19/07/2014 19:49

It's a small world isn't it! I lived there for a few years and still have my brother there. I think I just asked if healthcare at home could do it due to travelling. He may not let you all the time but even once saves time and petrol x

Mel3062 · 20/07/2014 06:27

After months of no af showing on it's own I'm supposedly 5dpo today so I'm thinking I may give the cyclogest a miss this month and see if af comes on it's own. If so that proves it's the cyclogest from ovulation that's stopping it! Does that sound a good idea?
I'm going on hol in 2 weeks so just bought a bag for my neupogen, I'll prob still take my monitor!
Someone was advised to avoid sun if on clexane does anyone know more about this???!

suemays · 20/07/2014 11:59

Zita west charge £165 for intrallipids so almost £200 cheaper than mr s! I think you have to be seeing them for immunes or ivf though so can't just rock up for intrallipids.

freelancegirl · 20/07/2014 13:01

I have had around 9 intralipids at New Life in Epsom and it's fine! There's nothing to it, you just have to sit there and yes it's always in a private room. Take reading material.

Hopefulfor3rd · 20/07/2014 19:47

I'm back! Lost you all and then had huge problems with internet and my password for here, but finally got around to sorting it out and am slowly catching up.
Got my results and had gone up into complex unfortunatly. Felt like it was all new again, I felt comfortable with going on with just the tablets like last time, to hear I'd need the intraplids (as well as the £) shook me a bit. Took some time to decide how it made us stand rg the financial side but knew we had to give it a shot. We will have to constantly review it as time goes on or a treatment( fingers crossed, it doesn't) fails.
So, just started now, got my smiley on my opk on Friday eve, started the pred sat morning and will see what happens in a fortnight. Need to go back and read all my correspondence, 2011 was a long time ago! Plus luck was on our side and I fell pregnant on the first attempt, need to get myself to realise that very very probably won't happen again.
Also, with work and children commitments we won't be able always get to Epsom for the intripalids so looks like we will have to pick which months to try. Complete pain in the arse. Although, I said this repeatedly to Louise and she never mentioned others having it at home. I wonder why? Maybe because I'm in deep dark Devon....

I see there's been some really great news and not so great news, new people finding us and other ladies graduating with their newborns. I just want to say to all what a support this place is for whatever part of the journey people are on. Big love to all xxx

VillageMum · 20/07/2014 20:10

Hello ladies, I haven't been on for what feels like a long time due to real life getting the better of me - and just logged on tonight to see such fabulous news from Team and free! Wow! Congratulations to you both, free on passing the 12-week milestone and team on the birth of Esme. You've both made my evening!

Hope everyone is doing well. I'm still ttc, currently on a natural cycle as my body needed a break from SO - I was over responding. We'll see what happens. Otherwise cheerful and enjoying life, whatever it might bring Smile

That's a great attitude to have Village, remind me of it in a few weeks/months!!

sunnyday01 · 20/07/2014 22:04

Hi village and hopeful! Hopefully between us we can continue the good news occurring in this group!

I'll be start to ttc again in a couple of weeks - I can never get a positive result on a opk so will be just taking it from day 14 instead!

I have the option of so but want to try naturally a couple more times as could do without the expense of another trip to london and cost of scan! Do you know if you have to have a scan every month of trying so or just the first month?

Hopefulfor3rd · 20/07/2014 22:27

Hi sunny, I've no experience of so at all I'm afraid.
If you mean scan with pregnancy it's my understanding and previous experience that scans were done with each visit and I think I was signed off at about 20 weeks. I'll have to have intraplids if I get there again, and think they scan before those, though I doubt they'd do that at your BFP first one - they'd be nothing to see at that stage, surely?

Mel3062 · 21/07/2014 04:13

When you're on so you get scanned monthly so mr s can see your follicles and then can tell you when to do your injections to stimulate ovulation and hopefully conceive at the right time x
