AF finally arrived. Thank goodness, I was going batty.

HampshireBlues · 19/02/2014 19:21

Win glad you're doing ok

Barking your head teacher sounds like a right b....! Glad to see that treasuring and caring for staff is at the top of management lists.

Blue, Berries, I am confused. Am CD34 and been spotting for 6 days. We are at the FC tomorrow for our implications assessment and have no idea where my body is at; not helpful when I need to give the staff dates for treatment. Anyone any thoughts?

barkingtreefrog · 19/02/2014 19:27

Lifestyle link to miscarriage

"Everybody ..... should bear in mind that postponing pregnancy to the mid-30s implies a seriously increased risk of miscarriage."

Gee, thanks for that.

HP poas?! I had 5 days of spoting before my bfp...

barkingtreefrog · 19/02/2014 19:28

HB not HP, didn't mean to call you a sauce...

tigerdog · 20/02/2014 09:36

Get well soon barking! Hope you feel better in time for your wedding.

because at least af has arrived and taken away the uncertainty. On to the next cycle. Very envious of your lovely Bali trip. Seriously in need of some sunshine here!

hb hope the appt goes well today. I'd echo the poas suggestion..

happy a proliferation of bumps is very annoying. The main bump I have to deal with has just gone on mat leave, but no doubt another will crop up.

Just been given hsg appt. it's not till cd 20, which is annoying in that it writes off this month for ttc and I thought it was best done before ovulation. Am going to try and change it but not holding out much hope.

parsley any sign of af or other symptoms?!

win glad to hear you are doing ok in the circumstances

Parsley2506 · 20/02/2014 11:32

tiger having it at cd20 might get you the bonus if them being able to have a goosey at your lining post ov which might be interesting/useful?

Not much occurring here, usual pre AF night sweats and a bit of a breakout accompanied by usual niggling feeling that it's coming.

FeatherFeather11 · 20/02/2014 13:06

Hi all,

win how are you doing today?

barking feeling any better?

tiger good news about hsg date but not on timing. Grrr

parsley it's not over till the witch turns up!

I'm spotting again today. Hoping it turns into af but not holding out much hope.

winohhh · 20/02/2014 14:09

Afternoon guys, my dh is back at work today, feeling a little lost without him. :(

Went shopping - great use of sick leave. Bought some new skinny jeans, skinny trousers, heals and a new coat (that wouldn't fit a bump under it). I'm sure these purchases have nothing to do with the miscarriage. :/

Contemplating the gym later, for a gentle work out.. Need to get rid if the (adding insult to injury) belly I developed over the last couple of months. May lift my mood a bit too, feeling blue. :(

winohhh · 20/02/2014 14:15

HB, how was the apt today?

How're you feeling barking? Hope you're feeling better, but still off work (I hope you're taking tomorrow off too!)

Tiger, I'd be tempted to move the appointment if possible, although I'm feeling particularly impatient af the moment! The guy that did the erpc said we should wait a cycle before ttc again. We're not waiting though, I haven't read any firm evidence that says we should, and one large study that says there shouldn't be a problem...

barkingtreefrog · 20/02/2014 14:56

tiger I was told the hsg had to be before ov, I guess that's the only way to guarantee you're not pg when they do it.

win the only reason they tell you to wait is so that they can date it accurately. No medical reason.

I still feel rubbish but went to the gp this morning and got some antiseptic mouthwash which has numbed the swallowing razorblades feeling. Going in for inset day tomorrow as there are no kids just talking about the new curriculum and it will be 8.30 'til 3 rather than the usual 7.15 'til 6. And it's an extra day so I'll get paid...

BlueBirdy · 20/02/2014 17:50

HB was the FC any help? Hope it went ok anyway.

Win hang in there Thanks Retail therapy is good, and exercise always make me feel (relatively) better.

Barking yikes your normal day is so long!! Hope you feel better soon!

funkymonk · 20/02/2014 20:51

win retail therapy is mandatory. I bought 2 rather tight dresses that barely fit me now never mind if I had a bump. I also struggled when DH went back to work. Cue a day of me just sitting sobbing. I wrote a blog and found that helped. I found some days I was sad and other days I was angry. I am sure you will be finding the same.

barking I sop hope you are better for the wedding. How is DP doing?

Parsley? Has AF arrived yet?

Feather hope you get AF!

I had a call from the FC yesterday saying that my 2nd thrombophilia test had come back positive meaning that with 2 positive tests, yes I have it. They still couldn't tell me what type of thrombophilia I have (some are much less risk t pregancy than others). I was with my granny at the time who is already stressing that she will die before she see's me have a baby so I cut the phonecall short and called back today. I told them how I didn't understand this condition I have and how aspirin didn't work last time so why would it this time? I persuaded the nurse that I needed to see the consultant to discuss this (have been trying to get some answers since first test in Oct 2013). I now have to wait for an appt. She said it may be a while. I'm angry that they keep telling me I have this problem but can't tell me anything about it!Grrrr.

Can we do a list, or is there one somewhere round here? I'm getting confused with where people are up to!

Funky,31 (for a few more weeks). TTC since Nov 2012. MC July 2013 and Dec 2013. Thrombophilia (apparently). DH lowish morphology.

Parsley2506 · 20/02/2014 21:13

Oh funky that must be frustrating! I don't know why so many in the medical field seem incapable of explaining test results. I still don't feel like I really truly understand the blood test results I had done last year, fertility consultant and GP both seemed to think 'normal' would suffice!

No AF yet but I've properly jinxed myself by buying a HPT on the way home. Will use if no sign of AF by Saturday but she's due tomorrow...

win retail therapy definitely helped take my mind off things for a little while. I also bought a lovely new totally un-pg friendly coat.

barking you are one tough cookie going to work tomorrow! Hope it's not too draining, you must be getting pretty excited by now!

feather did the witch put in an appearance yet?

Funky,31 (for a few more weeks). TTC since Nov 2012. MC July 2013 and Dec 2013. Thrombophilia (apparently). DH lowish morphology.
Parsley, 32, ttc since Mar 2012. MMC Nov 2013. Me and MrP both 'normal'

beakybeak · 20/02/2014 21:25

Hi ladies, Ive been lurking around MN for a little while and this is my first post! I was wondering if I could join you berries? I am 34 ttc since August 2012 not even a sniff of a bfp, been referred to FC and waiting on HSG at the mo Hmm
Sorry to read of the difficult times you've all been having ttc.

BoodleDoo · 20/02/2014 22:02

Hi Beaky - plenty of people here with experience of running the gauntlet of infertility investigations! You're in good company! Smile

beakybeak · 20/02/2014 22:08

Hi Boodle, thanks! It's much more stressful than I had ever imagined.

happylass · 20/02/2014 22:36

Welcome Beaky. Make yourself at home. Looks like we started TTC around the same time, although we had a 5 month break recently so 'only' actually on cycle 15. I had my HSG about a month ago so think we're pretty much at similar stages in the FC battle too!
Win glad to see you've been treating yourself.
Tiger I was told they'd only do my HSG between cd5-10 so that there was no chance I could be upduffed.

RevoltingPeasant · 20/02/2014 22:39

Barking thinking of you and the Big Day!! Neck vitamins and stay off sugar.

Gill where are you at now?

Wino hope you are doing okay....

I am a numpty. Or "nun pity", as my iPad suggests. I fucked up the days in my head and didn't realise we were at CD13 already so we will start shag week late this month. Because I really could do with making it a but harder for myself Hmm

Gillster · 20/02/2014 23:52

Hey RP (waving), I'm still here.

Can some one add me to the list:

Gillster, 39 (just), just had one round of short protocol IVF. Currently have 6 one cell embies sitting in the freezer whilst I await a polyp removal in 2-3 months. Have appointment with FC on 2 April to discuss how the frozen cycles are going to work.

I returned to the gym this morning with some personal training. It was hard work but just what I needed as I feel much better for it. Still feel a little swollen from egg collection and the drugs. Almost looking forward to AF! Also means we can't have unprotected sex until then although I may bend the rules this weekend as pretty sure my ovaries have spat out any eggs not taken by the docs last week.

Barking - exciting times! I'm sure you'll both be fine by the wedding. If nothing else the adrenaline will get you through it. Strange that they've booked your HSG on day 21. Also, will they be able to avoid using the same chemicals as last time given your reaction?

Excellent retail therapy Wino, think you're doing great through this really difficult time. Small steps.

Welcome Beaky, lovely to have some new friends join us although shame about the circumstances. Feel free to unload about anything and I think between the lot of us we've pretty much seen every test and situation.

Keep pushing for those answers Funky. I definitely think this is something that needs pursuing.

Sorry you're having such a rough time on the down regging Boodle, hopefully this will pass when you begin the stimming. I feel thankful to have been on short protocol given that it was only 10 days of injections. At least on the stimming you should start seeing some results for all your progress.

Hello to anyone else I've missed.

tigerdog · 21/02/2014 09:28

No joy in moving the hsg - would have to wait another month and even then I would just be issued another appointment which may or may not be convenient. Only saving grace is that I work next door so can pop in to have it done between meetings - have others gone back to work straight after? Also means that this is a month off as hsg isn't till CD 20. Angry

Welcome beaky! As you've probably seen I'm just awaiting a hsg too and getting a bit frustrated with the rigid nhs systems. Am also fairly new here but have found it a relief to have somewhere to discuss ttc issues with lovely like minded people.

gil are you having everything done privately or nhs? Impressed that you are back to the gym!

Am on phone but my stats for list:

Tigerdog, 33, ttc since January 2013. Hsg booked for 6 March so having to take current cycle off ttc. All tests normal so far.

Gillster · 21/02/2014 10:54

Tiger I was entitled to one free NHS go and had to squeeze that in before turning 40, which is next month (sob!). I think the frozen cycles are classed as the same go so should be funded. Not sure exactly how it will work but in my eyes it would make sense to defrost 3 embies at a time. Once I've exhausted the frozen cycles then we'd have to go private. There's always the chance of a natural BFP as the only thing they've found that could be an issue is my polypy/fibroidy uterus. I guess we'll get a better idea of the quality of my eggs too when they defrost the embies. I find it strange having a potential five aside football team plus sub sitting in the freezer! I keep having these morbid thoughts that if DH suddenly died I'd potentially still be able to keep his genes going!!

Parsley2506 · 21/02/2014 10:57

Hi beaky I only joined this thread recently myself but have found it a very friendly and supportive place to be!

So AF arrived in all her ugly glory this AM. Bang on 32 days for the 3rd month in a row. I guess this is my new 'normal' post MC.
LP seems to be a steadyish 14 days which is good.

March will be our 2nd 'anniversary' if ttc. There ought to be marriage style gifts for this shit!! (a baby ideally...)

SidneyBristow · 21/02/2014 11:02

Tiger I had a hycosy done privately as part of a fertility MOT. The consultant told me to schedule it for the earliest part in my cycle, right after bleeding stopped, but before my expected ovulation day. The idea was to not miss a chance at conceiving, not disturb a possible implantation but also to get the best view possible of the womb - if the lining is too thick then polyps can get missed. If all they care about is whether your tubes are blocked, then I guess anytime of the cycle is fine, but if they're trying to be comprehensive, then really they should be looking for polyps and other abnormal structures too.

If the timing they're offering is troubling you, would having it done privately be an option? Ideally the NHS would do it for you quickly, but also at a time in your cycle that would give worthwhile results.

As for going back to work right after, mine didn't give me much trouble apart from feeling slightly lightheaded and a bit leaky, so if it's just meetings you'd be going back for, I think you'd be fine.

beakybeak · 21/02/2014 16:11

Hi everyone! Thanks for being so welcoming Grin

Re the HSG, Tiger, I was told it should be in the first 10 days too, I have to ring on first day of AF to book in. I also am booked in for a pelvic ultrasound and an internal scan this coming Friday (yak). Was anyone told not to have sex for the rest of their cycle after the HSG?

Happy it does sound like we are at a similar stage. How did you find the HSG? I'm not looking forward to it!

Gill, one go on the NHS is a bit tight eh. Fingers crossed for your FE's though.

BoodleDoo · 21/02/2014 17:32

I had to ring on the first day of AF to book in for my HSG and, like Beaky, was told they'd do it in the first 10 days. There was no mention of no sex for the rest of the cycle as far as I can recall not that it made a blind bit of difference.
