OK, sorry I didn't post yesterday - I could only get on to the PC for about 10 minutes in the evening, so I only had time to read and not write anything much.
The appointment went well, I think. (Thanks for the text JL, it made me smile).
Janus, I'll include all the details that I can think of for you, ask if you have any further questions. It was a refreshing change from the treatment we get at our GPs, it seemed relatively slick, organised and efficient.
He took our history, asked a bit about the miscarriage and my periods. I showed him my blood test results from last month (FSH and LH on day 3 and progesterone on day 21). He said that although prog. was only 22 he counted that as me having ovulated. He said my FSH of 10.2 was only just over the expected range and that would not affect my chances of getting pg naturally. He said that the FSH is only an issue when considering IVF and you couldn't compare the issues of conception via IVF with the issues of conception naturally. He wasn't at all bothered. He told me that there is a new measurement that is being used now to measure ovarian reserve etc. and that is measuring AMH. I haven't had a moment to google that, but I will. Only private clinics offer that because it is pretty new.
He also said that if I measured LH using OPKs then that was 97-98% accurate in proving I am ovulating, as long as I don't get LH surges at any other time of the month....I suppose that if you have PCOS then that is when OPKs are not seen to prove anything.
Although he seemed to be trying his best to say that there was nothing wrong and I should have waited longer before going to him, he has sent me on for a scan, HSG and further blood tests.
DP asked if the m/c could have affected things for me, in view of the fact that the last 2 conceptions happened first month. Worryingly, he said that in a tiny number of cases there may be some scar tissue in the uterus or the fallopian tubes.
However, I think his main mission was to put our minds at rest, and although I was aware that that was what he was doing, I very much wanted to have my mind put at rest so I went along with him. Dp felt very pleased with it and he said it was a weight off his mind.
It did help that I already had my blood test results to hand so that I was prepared with all my questions.
Blimey, that was a long one.
