Pepperpots, I use ov sticks (although in some ways I wish I didn't) and I find that I do detect the LH surge if I make sure the wee is concentrated and test at the same time of day. I have found that different brands have different sensitivities which you have to take into account. For instance, the cheaps ones I have got online from access diagnostics are less sensitive and the line is only just as dark as the control line when it peaks. On the other hand I have used some superdrug ones and they are very sensitive and show a line all the time - it just gets really really dark when I get the surge.
So it depends which sort you are using and if you are getting any sort of line at all - I think you have to get used to a particular brand. If you are getting no line whatsoever then you have either already ov'd or you are yet to. If on the other hand you have got some sort of line but it is not mega dark then that might be due to the sensitivity of the test.

I don't get ov pains unfortunately, so I can't help on that one.

Smole - good luck for no af at the weekend.

D2bmum, I hope you have just tested too early. Fingers crossed for you today.

rubles · 04/08/2006 10:27

On the subject of ov sticks/temping I'm a bit confused this month, actually. I am on CD17 today and my temps have been all over the place. I thought I had a small rise on tuesday to indicate that i ovulated on Monday, but then 2 days later it dipped by 0.1C and then this morning had a massive jump making me think I might actually have ovulated yesterday instead. I didn't bother to do the deed yesterday or the day before because I was working the early shift at work so was knackered, so if I did actually ovulate yesterday then I have missed it.
Double whammy is that if I did ovulate yesterday then my period is due on the due date of the m/c baby, so that will be a happy day. not.

pepperpots · 04/08/2006 10:42

Morning ladies
Rubles don't lose hope just yet hun, there is still time. If you ovulated yesterday you can still catch the egg in time just grab dp/h and bd like crazy woman
On the ov sticks matter - i have decided not to bother with them just jet. They are soooo confusing, and tbh i don't think i know my body well enough yet. Has any heard of that book by toni something?? Have heard a few pepole mention it and it sounds good
Anyway enough of my rambling i really should be packing speak soon xx

Nicola63 · 04/08/2006 10:56

Rubles if you do it tonight (or this evening!) you could still catch it!

weewilliewinkie · 04/08/2006 11:04

rubles, don't give up hope - I thought there was NO chance for us as we bd'd 4 days before ov was due (dh was away over ov time) but it worked anyway! My temp chart that month was confusing too - first it said I'd ov'd on day 11 (so gave me hope) then changed it to day 14, thus stripping me of all hope. But I still got my BFP. There is always a chance! I'll be thinking about you...good luck..x

Zenobia · 04/08/2006 23:38

Hi all, can I join this thread? Discovered missed m/c on July 7, had erpc and now ttc. AF arrived today, grrr. Anyone know if previous caesars affect your chances? Wish you all luck for bouncy 2007 babies.

andi0411 · 05/08/2006 08:20

hi ladies- I'm on cd 5 today and would like to just wish all of us a big bouncing baby 07!! i'm on cd 5 today- anyone on anything round this- we could plod thru the month together?

rubles · 06/08/2006 09:32

Hi Zenobia & welcome - hope you are not here long.

Andi04- sorry for the outcome of the tests. Hopefully this'll be your month.

Actually, i hope that this will be everyone's month and there will be no need for this thread anymore.

time4tea · 06/08/2006 19:52

Hello all, Hello Pepperpots, the book by Toni something is set out below (amazon blurb) I really recommend it - monitoring mucus (you can conceive without egg white mucus) and temps is cheaper and easier than peeing on expensive sticks! I got lucky first month after ERPC, the woman who recommended it to me had the same thing happen to her after her mc. It is a great read also, fascinating stuff about periods etc.

Welcome Zenobia, wishing you luck and a short stay. love and baby dust to all...

ladybump · 06/08/2006 20:24

this is officially my new home. had m/c and didn't quite know where i belonged anymore!!!! Waiting for hospital appt to see if my poor beanie has removed itself then it's all systems go. Any advice or encouragement?

How long does it take for period after m/c?

Horrible question, sorry in advance.
Dr said i should look out for unusually large clots as that might be it! really dont wanna have d&c so am desperate for it to come away naturally. Anyone any experience of this? I was 6 weeks...

Smole · 07/08/2006 09:53

Welcome ladybump and Zenobia. Hope your stay is very short!

Well no AF and (I'm saying this very quietly - I think I may have had an implantation bleed on Friday) but I've not tested yet.

Angsthase · 07/08/2006 11:43

Ooh Smole - excited for you. Fingers crossed.

Ladybump - sorry you're had to join us, but hopefully we can all move over to a pg thread soon. I had my first AF a month after the m/c (had an ERPC) and then another 2 weeks later. Waiting to see if I get an AF in 10 days (hope not!).

rubles · 07/08/2006 12:35

Oh blimey Smole, that sounds very promising. Well done for not testing. Maybe tomorrow then you'll be at least 2 days late.

Ladybump. Poor you honey, it's a dreadful thing to go through. I take it you haven't passed the baby then?

As to the question of timing of next AF - that seems to be anything. I get the impression that when a woman has a miscarriage all bets are off and it is like throwing a pack of cards in the air and predicting how they will fall - it seems to be wildly variable. FWIW I was about 3 weeks from when I passed the baby but I was still getting faintly +ve preg test up until then so I don't know if that 'counts' as AF or a final bit of miscarriage because after that it seemed to finally get me back into a proper cycle.

rubles · 08/08/2006 09:17

Hello! Smole? Where are you?

It's going a bit quiet here. How is everyone doing? Where are you all in your cycles?

Smole · 08/08/2006 09:21

Morning Rubles I'm here and no I've not tested yet

rubles · 08/08/2006 09:34

You are ROCK HARD, girl!

andi0411 · 08/08/2006 09:37

Morning ladies- well it's cd 8 for me today- so quite a wait but coming up to ov time and feeling much more pos this month after sorting out my hcg levels etc post m/c.
Rubles- i hope you caught your ov time this month- do you use sticks or temp? i might try that toni Weschler book- sounds interesting- I've never bothered with sticks as i think regular bd'ing is the key-not saying they're not useful if you can't bd regularly thru work etc..
Zenobia/Ladybump- so sorry for your m/c - my af returned 35 days after the 1st day of my m/c and was light. I spotted in the following 2 weeks and then had af 28 days later. Now on cd8.

Smole · 08/08/2006 09:47

I'm being chicken really. If I test then I'll worry about m/c whereas if I don't test and I bleed I can tell myself it's a late period. I'm working up the courage to test Thursday.

Janus · 08/08/2006 11:52

Morning ladies, firstly I hope we get some positive news this month, so best of luck smole!!
I was talking to a friend last week who has had miscarriages but also has one 6 year old. She thought the 'foresight' method (haven't yet looked this up) worked for her one pregnancy that did become her child. Seems interesting. Also, she said her friend had 'relations' the day after her period finished and nothing for the rest of the month due to circumstances and fell pregnant. I've decided not to work out when ovulating etc and just go for it when we feel like it. I feel like I've been obsessing with ovulation sticks, calendars, etc and am now going to go back to the method that has worked 3 times before for us, ie just having sex when we feel like it. Let you know!
Good luck again everyone.

Janus · 08/08/2006 11:55

PS just found the foresight info, haven't looked into it closely but on first sight looks interesting, if anyone's curious - www.foresight-preconception.org.uk/

Angsthase · 08/08/2006 12:16

Know what you mean smole, think I would be the same mixture of scared and excited.

On the positive - aren't the chances of a 2nd m/c lower? Don't know, but expect lots of ladies here can put me right.

I'm checking out that foresight site, looks like the usual stuff applies to diet, no white flour etc, but it's certainly worth a read.

Smole · 08/08/2006 12:35

Unfortunately Angsthase it wouldn't be my 2nd. I've already had 3 m/c.

Angsthase · 08/08/2006 12:45

I'm so sorry, I'm such an arse. Didn't think to check.

Ddddrrrr....

Hope it's good news for you on Thurs. xx

rubles · 08/08/2006 14:40

As long as you have plenty of nooky it must be best to just try and not be so controlling of it all.

According to fertility friend I ov'd last monday, although I am not so sure as my temps were not conclusive enough for my liking.
I feel really resigned about it all this month, I think I have got so used to not being pregnant that I don't expect it like I did a couple of months ago. I'm not really holding out any hopes anymore.

Smole · 08/08/2006 16:19

I know how you feel Rubles. When I was first ttc I used to watch everything I used or ate after ovulation just in case. Now I don't bother. I couldn't live my life behaving as if I was pregnant every two weeks of the month. I think your hopes do fade when it takes so long to happen.
