Smole - what fantastic news so happy for you, got some tears in my eyes. Look after yourself!

Hello everyone else

Hope AF does stay away for you Rubles - try and keep positive - you always seem so calm about everything [{{{big hugs}}}

Hope your 1st AF turns up soon Uki, I can appreciate the frustration, but can't really remember how long it took for me, as I bled for 8 weeks following my first ERCP and was just so relieved that it all stopped after my 2nd one, which removed the last traces, that I can't remember how long I waited until AF next arrived. I think you are just naturally normal following the moon cycle (which tends to be a 27-29 day cycle) - I don't know specifically about the full moon & AF's - but I definitely notice a difference in DD's behaviour and sleeping around the time of the full moon. So there must be something about full moons!

Littlepolly - glad to hear you sounding more positive - hope life takes an upward lift for you very soon!

Nikki - {{{BIG HUGS}}} for tomorrow

Anyway, RL calls - take care all x

Angsthase · 08/09/2006 10:34

Rubles - did you sort out your DH's test appt? My DH has thrown away his letter (not like me I still have everything just in case!), but he definately went to the fertility dept.
Hope it all goes well.

I'm back there in Oct for IUI discussion / prescription / arrangements if I don't get a BFP before then (not really hopeful, but secretly hoping at the same time IYKWIM).

Smole · 08/09/2006 10:39

Morning Ladies.

Well I got in last night to discover I've been booked in for an early dating scan on Wednesday, which I presume is the early scan the midwife said I probably wouldn't get. I was going to cancel since I only had a scan yesterday but DH said we should go for reassurance. So I'll be having another scan next week!

About time the system worked in your favour smole More piccies of the growing beanie Hurrah!

rubles · 08/09/2006 10:46

Angsthase, yes I did EVENTUALLY, it was a bit of a fandango though. The GP's form, (from 1993!), suggested the microbiology department would do the tests. So I rang them first and then went on a massive telephone tour of most of the departments of Barts asking if they would take my dp's semen sample. I finally got the right department and I have him booked in for October 27th, which is an age away (although like you i would like to think I'll be pg by then). Maybe you'll bump into my dp scuttling in with his little sample in a cup!

Spotting started today, so AF is early. I had my blood tested this month so it'll be interesting to see if that shows me up as having ovulated.

rubles · 08/09/2006 10:57

Oh sorry, forgot ask Nikki, how are you doing today?

Smole - what does that mean about the 12 week scan, will you have that as well or does this early one replace it?

Smole · 08/09/2006 11:16

I wondered that Rubles. I was guessing this one would replace it, but we were think of having a nuchal scan anyway so wouldn't have had a 12 week scan.
I was wondering if this scan replaces the 12 week one and I was having a nuchal was I really entitled to this scan, but the leaflet that came with it only mentioned if you'd already had a nuchal. DH is of the same opinion as firststar and to take every appt offered. What do you think?

rubles · 08/09/2006 11:20

Oh I would defo take the early scan.
I only asked because if you weren't having a nuchal scan or a dating scan at 12 weeks then it would be a very long wait until the midwife can pick up the heartbeat on her doppler, which might have been nerve-wracking 6 weeks or so.

Smole · 08/09/2006 11:28

Oh I see. Yeah that would be a very long 6 weeks.

You are all great on this thread. How am I ever going to leave it?

edie123 · 08/09/2006 13:01

Hi everyone

Took me just three months to get pregnant, think the reason we got preg was because of ov tests which are quite good. Unfortunately I then mc at five weeks but we want to try again after d&c. Worried it will happen again though

hi ladies-

Edie so sorry about your m/c and completely understand your fear of trying again because 'it' may happen again. I- and prob everyone who this has ever happened to- feels the same.
Was it your first mc? Don't tell me anything you don't want to- but I have had 3 m/c and others on here have had similar situations if you need a bit of help/advice/an ear to vent to x

edie123 · 08/09/2006 13:17

Thankyou firststar

I have my d&c on Monday I think, I know it sounds silly but I can't remember if that's when they will do it, I know I have another scan on Mon but hope they will do d&c straight after as we are going away next weekend and I hope to be able to swim and stuff.

I have just been on amazon and bought a couple of books that were mentioned by others here so looking forward to reading them.

edie123 · 08/09/2006 13:22

Andi

Yes this was my first mc. It's funny how you never think it's gonna happen to you but now I look back it's strange how I felt before my scan, I wasn't excited at all and I think deep down I knew something was wrong. I know of a woman who had 12 mc's and now has a healthy baby! Have they done any investigations for you? For the woman with 12, she had a very simple infection that was cleared up by antibio's in 14 days so I guess it's positive to know that it's often something very easy to sort.

andi0411 · 08/09/2006 13:38

Hi Edie- again so sorry.
Could you phone them to put your mind at ease..sort of say if the scans not positive then will they do the d and c straight away etc- at least then you'd know what's happening on Mon. I know you probably feel scaredand it's NO consolation whatsoever but it has been documented that alot of women have mc's the first time- some know they have and some don't.
As for me well they don't investigate until you've had 3 so now i am about to start having my investigations in October- i had problems actually getting pg in the first instance so am going to the fertility doc who specialises in problems with fertiity and pregnancy as a whole.
I will be around over the week-end if you fancy a chat- if not, i'll be thinking about you on Monday.

edie123 · 08/09/2006 13:43

Andi

Yes mum and DP keep saying to give them a ring so I think I will this afternoon. It must be frustrating for you knowing that they don't investigate until after 3. I hope they find something very simple and treatable, I hope also that you have a good doctor. I have read some stuff by an American dr and they seem to be really good over there, of course prob as it's all private! xxx

andi0411 · 08/09/2006 13:50

Yes Edie do ring them- there's nothing worse than not knowing whats going on/ what to expect.
How's your dp taking it all- sometimes we forget the men folk don't we at these times but i know my dp has been so good really- letting me moan and carry on if i feel like it.
Did you try for long to get pg? You may fall again quickly- it has been known as the body is pumped full of hormones- i was hoping after my last mc in June that I would do- nothing yet- but it's only been 3 proper af's since so fingers crossed for us both!!

edie123 · 08/09/2006 14:03

Andi

Fingers crossed for you! My dp has been so brilliant. I have booked us a weekend away at Centerparcs to kind of say thankyou to him and so we can get away and have some pampering. I have even ordered champagne, flowers and chocs in the room for him. He has supported me really well but yes it is sad how I have had lots of text messages from people at work and a big bouquet of flowers to say thankyou and he has had nothing like that. Even though work has been good to him I think he was nervous asking for any time off.
We were only trying for three months so I was very lucky as I know that is not long compared to some people, however, a day feels like a week when you are trying and sometimes I would imagine that I felt pregnant when I wasn't. There is a really good book (again written by a really good American dr) called Getting Pregnant which has loads and loads of tips which you may or may not find useful. Sometimes it can be reassuring to read stuff but other times it can make you feel worse so it's up to you!! xx

Yeah I definately will ring them in a bit. Yes I wondered about the swimming. It would be awful if I couldn't but these things happen.

Thanks for your advice xx
