The Rules...

(1) A lady may only POAS on a Friday.
(2) Friday means the day that everyone calls Friday in the time zone where you spent the night.
(3) Rule (1) does not apply to POA-OPK-S, UNLESS they are being illegitimately used as surrogate HCG detectors, in which case Rule (1) most definitely does apply
(4) Rule (1) does not apply following a BFP because if you want to waste £25 a day POADigiS that's your prerogative
(5) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady is POAS in an attempt to get a BFN to prove she can start DTD with intent
(6) Rule (1) does not apply if a lady wants for unknown reason to pee on an actual stick, like a twig or some such, if that lady is unexpectedly caught short whilst tramping in the forest looking for bears.
(7) These rules (including Rule (1)) are subject to the change at any time if the ladies of the Posifrickentivity thread decide on a whim come up with empirical evidence to prove that it is luckier to POAS on any other day of the week
(8) Violators of Rule (1) shall be subject to fish throwing.

And as a grand finale, why not pledge to NEVER POAS before 14DPO?

Oh that's a bugger, are the hpt's getting much lighter now?

sebsmummy1 · 19/02/2014 09:58

Nope, if anything a smidge darker and staying that way.

OttersPocket · 19/02/2014 10:18

Ah sebs, it's tough isn't it. I got positive hpt's similar to yours for 4 weeks post-mc. 6 weeks post-mc I got AF. Give it a wee bit more time lovely.

sebsmummy1 · 19/02/2014 10:22

Thanks otters xxxx

I am now 19 days post mc and 12 days since the bleeding stopped, so early days I know. From what I've read you can still ov with hcg in your system, it's more to do with levels of progesterone. I suspect I will continue to show on hpts until AF arrives. Sucks though.

Parsley2506 · 19/02/2014 11:03

sebs I took guaifenesin this cycle, dosage will vary depending on the strength of the stuff you've got but what otters said sounds about right. I always forgot the lunchtime dose tho, and hated the taste of it anyway!

CorporeSarnie · 19/02/2014 11:38

TMI post coming up Oh ffs. Was busy all afternoon yesterday, finally nipped to toilet at about 5 on my way out of work and lo - pinkish-brown cm. Then some lovely fresh blood in the evening. Has now slowed to a little pinkishness when I wipe. But just so sad that this is happening again, particularly now I know 1) no STI/UTI 2) supposedly no hormonal issue (from the swabs and bloods which were taken at cd1 and cd7 respectively). I don't know why I expected it to resolve of its own accord, just fed up. Also bumped into two separate mums from nursery whose 1st babies were born after DD, both sporting lovely bumps. I want my bump to be where it should have been.
Please smack me with something and tell me to pull myself together! Am definitely not touching anything inside me with a cotton bud!
sebs, how long has it been? Can you ask your GP to get you a (presumably pair of) blood tests to make sure HCG is falling/you're not pg again (I haven't read the thread in enough detail to know if this is a possibility)? Are they sure your MC was complete?

sebsmummy1 · 19/02/2014 11:49

Sarnie - how far along are you post mc? I know when I was researching mc it did seem to say that some further bleeding at a later date wasn't unusual. I assume it can't be AF or IB?

I had a scan a week ago and the miscarriage is complete. I haven't been back to the doctors as they are so disinterested I would very much doubt they would be interested at this early stage. My sonographer said not to take hpts. She said I could TTC straight away, if I didn't have AF within 6 weeks to do a pregnancy test then.

I think they know the WTF cycle is just a bastard, an individual bastard at that and there are no answers. I'm just torturing myself doing daily hpts. I know that.

CorporeSarnie · 19/02/2014 12:23

Oh, sebs, I feel your pain. My wtf cycle was only 27 days, so almost as though AF was a period, but I remember the daily testing... in my case in the stupid and vain hope that I was still pg really.

I am a long long time post-MC now, I MC'd mid-July, but am still emotionally all over the place. I do worry slightly that if I do manage to get pg again I would drive myself crazy worrying. From dates it could be IB, but I have now had this for the last few months, intermittent bleeding for 3-5 days before AF arrives, and kidding myself that this month it really is IB vs. last month (when the same happened and AF then arrived properly at CD 25) isn't doing me much good.

mini28 · 19/02/2014 12:53

Hello girls, wondered if I could re-join the thread?
I briefly joined this thread back in April 2013 immediately after a mmc detected at the 12w scan. But I didn't stay long because I was coping really badly with the miscarriage as well as having post-mmc complications (retained products for about 4 months Sad)

We're now 11 months on from the horrid 12w scan of doom, and I still haven't managed to get another bfp (despite actively ttc the whole time), but at least I feel in a better frame of mind now.

I remember some familiar names (Sal and Sundance I think you were here when I joined this thread back in April last year - happy to see you again, but sad that it's here iykwim)

Been lurking for a few days and you all seem really lovely, so thought I'd stop lurking and join in (although I'm not sure I'm quite at the cotton-bud-up-the-fanjo stage just yet!! Grin)

OttersPocket · 19/02/2014 14:04

Welcome Mini, sorry you're here but I hope you find it hilarious and a bit wrong supportive Grin The scan of doom is something that many of us have experienced and it takes a while to sort our collective heads out, I'm glad you're feeling stronger.

So, tell us where you are in your cycle? Will you be joining the POAS party on Friday or rummaging around in your fanjo looking for cm?! Are you in the middle of a TITH fest? Or are you enjoying the short part of your cycle where you can have the blessed relief of not shagging? Wink

Sundance2007 · 19/02/2014 15:03

Hi again mini, I do remember you, sorry to hear you have been having troubles ttc but a warm welcome back - if anything this is a great place to vent frustration and baby bump envy as well as pick up some random tips...though I'm also avoiding the cotton bud poking.

Have you had any testing done at all? I came back after a 2nd mc in October (following the one I had in march 2013), but have managed to stay quite positive about things which is largely due to having the lovely ladies on here to slap me with a wet fish when required.

So...just bought some tescos own cough syrup which has guaifenesin in, no doubt I will become addicted to it at some point.

Sundance2007 · 19/02/2014 15:13

And sorry to sound like a complete spanner, but how do I measure out 10mls? Is that roughly a teaspoon or a tablespoon? Or should I just wing it with a cap full?

OttersPocket · 19/02/2014 15:17

Does it not have a measuring cup in the cap Sundance? 5ml is one teaspoon, so you have two teaspoons Smile

EnglishGirlAbroad · 19/02/2014 15:20

Hi mini, hope you find this thread as positive and helpful as I have. Been able to talk openly and frankly without fear of judgement has helped me no end. And the ridiculous shit we find to talk about definitely makes this shitty journey more bearable!!

Parsley2506 · 19/02/2014 16:57

Hi mini sorry you're coming back (IYSWIM), but I hope you fid hanging out with us all helpful, I know I do!

sundance and anyone else on the ewcm/cough syrup route, I think it is quite important that you choose a cough syrup where guaifenesin is the ony active ingredient as more powerful medicines aren't necessarily ttc/pg friendly. Mine was a beechams one I think! Smile

EnglishGirlAbroad · 19/02/2014 16:59

Make sure the cough syrup doesn't have antihistamine - it dries you up!!

sebsmummy1 · 19/02/2014 17:23

I use this one;

Robitussin works on the cervical mucus and increases your chances of getting pregnant

Robitussin is a popular brand of cough syrup and it might be surprising to consider its relation with fertility. But the fact is that this expectorant is used to loosen and thin mucus of a different kind too, called cervical mucus, in women. Robitussin is only a specific brand and any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient can be used in its place. Generic versions are most likely available as well. Be sure to carefully inspect the ingredients list to make sure the ONLY active ingredient as guaifenesin. Any other ingredients can diminish the effect you are looking for.
What is the recommended dose of Robitussin?

The recommended dose for improving cervical mucus is two teaspoons (200 mg) taken orally three times per day. Recommended dosage is two teaspoons (200 mg) taken orally three times per day. If mucus still appears thick, you can take as the maximum dosage as listed on the label of the cough medicine. Water intake should be increased to encourage cervical mucus production and a full glass should take with each dose of guaifenesin.

mini28 · 19/02/2014 18:00

Thank you for the lovely welcome everyone

I'm currently 3dpo but not feeling very optimistic about this cycle as we only dtd once over my fertile time (on ov day, but after I ov'd I think). Was pretty Angry at the time, but now I'm thinking it might do me some good to have a month 'off' (even if it was unintentional!) I'm sure it won't stop me symptom spotting though Hmm

sundance Really sorry to hear you've been through this nastiness twice. Glad to hear that you've managed to keep positive though. I've not had any testing yet. Actually, I'm a bit confused as to when I could realistically go down that route. Not sure if the required '1 year trying' runs from date we decided to ttc initially, date I last got pregnant, date I miscarried, date I got all clear from all the complications... I guess I'll probably rock up to the docs in about April if I don't have a bfp before then and see what their policy is.

HollyBen · 19/02/2014 18:59

I was going to try cough mixture this month. Bought some Morrisons branded stuff. It was truly vile. Took it a couple of times but gave up. I did notice more EWCM this month but I think it was coincidence given how much I took.

3dpo. DD is poorly so home with her. She has a raging temp and was sick last night. She hadn't ate anything so I made loads of bits for lunch hoping she want something. Didn't work and I ended up eating most of it Blush One of things was a fish finger, which I normally like. Today I almost spat it back on the plate. It tasted really strong. Therefore I must be upduffed right!!?!?!? off to google wether aversion to fish fingers is a pg symptom

Sundance2007 · 19/02/2014 19:30

Thanks otters! Sadly no measuring lines in the cap so will go for 2xtsps when the time comes. And parsley, I was really surprised to find it in a tescos own brand but this one does have guaifenesin as only ingredient (without anti histamine), for a grand total of £1.50.

I'd also read about drinking loads of water to help too.

And thanks mini, weirdly, the 2nd mc wasn't as bad emotionally as I had put my barriers up so to speak and didn't allow myself to get excited. It was hard but it's brought me and DH closer together I think - so there's some posifrickintivity in there somewhere!

I think GPS tend to count from the end of your last mc - but I think this is totally wrong and should be from when you start trying, the mc (s) are all part of it, but Id also be tempted to exaggerate to the docs if you think it will get you tested sooner.

Seasides · 19/02/2014 19:33

Hi, and welcome back mini. I'd just head to the doc and lie cry if I were you, can't help to get concerns at least logged. Mine started testing me from 8 months ttcafter ectopic, but I think she's quite sympathetic.

Sal, I'm sure you won't be at all creeped out to know I thought of you this afternoon at the docs while waggling a cotton bud up myself for the first and only time! Nice of the nurse to let me swab in private (a win for both of us, doubt she was raring for an rueful of my flowerpot).

Oh god Grin seasides that made me laugh, and Sal will be proud if anything! Hahaha!

mini28 · 19/02/2014 22:30

Thanks sundance and seasides perhaps I should head to the docs sooner. I'll have a think and chat to dh about it. I've hesitated till now because I'm not sure I'm ready to admit to myself that there might be a problem Hmm my gp is particularly rubbish and unhelpful. My usual response is to barge on through regardless in the blind hope that everything will turn out ok, but I'm beginning to think that I need to get a move on seeing as we've been ttc for almost 16months and have absolutely nothing to show for it Sad

Sal1977 · 19/02/2014 22:55

Haha, if I'd been there, I would've had my pom poms out and cheered you on! >
