Allo ladies! Wondering if there are any other over 35's (apparently the age of fertility suicide, who knew?) ttc for over a year wanting to chat? If so, pour yourself some virtual wine and let the chatting commence!

I'm cycle 18 inshock.
It doesn't take long for the ttc madness to take hold!!!

Are any of you taking the higher folic acid dose - 5mg I think it is. (recommended in the USA - but I've not looked into why.)

Gingerbreadlady1 · 01/03/2014 20:14

No, I don't think so anyway. I take 1 tablet a day purple.

Evening all! I thought this thread had vanished.

I'm on cd9 of C10. Home alone this evening and on my 4th large glass of wine! Feelling positive this time - we have been very bad at dtd enough recently, but have managed cd 7, 8 + 9 so far!! So pretty pleased with that. I only have a 25 day cycle hence starting early. Will have to leave dh alone later as he struggled to do the job this morning, i think twice in10 hrs was all too much for him!

Hows things with everyone else?

Gingerbreadlady1 · 01/03/2014 22:12

Hi nottalotta, that's a great effort, impressive. Hopefully it'll do the trick. . Mmmmmmm, red wine, yum.

I'm well into the 2ww but not optimistic (hopefully some of yours may rub off) for this month. AF due mon & started spotting.im ttc #1, cycle 18.

OP posts:
Sparrowlegs248 · 01/03/2014 22:43

Well i think optimism waxes and wanes like the moon. I have plenty now. It will be gone in 10 days time though i'm sure.....good luck to you. Have you had any input from your GP yet?

Gingerbreadlady1 · 02/03/2014 13:48

Booooo!!! Af got me, , really getting fed up now and struggling to be optimistic. Cycle 19 pan!!

How's everyone else getting on?

OP posts:
Inshock73 · 02/03/2014 13:59

AF got me too this morn :( so I've had the obligatory tears for the last couple of hours whilst looking up IVF (I do the same thing every month!!) followed by a mcdonalds happy meal, a coffee, now stuffing my face with a family size bag of buttons and will follow them with a glass of wine. All the things I've given up. In about an hour I'll feel even more miserable because I'll feel sick.

Sorry to hear your news Ginger I feel exactly the same, really really struggling to believe it will happen.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 02/03/2014 14:56

I'm sorry inshock, I literally feel your pain (and cramps). I too binged on a cooked breakfast & 2 cigarettes.

No way else to put it, it fucking sucks!!! Phew, glad I got that off my chest.

I propose a positive vibe. Feel free to virtually slap me, but those that af gets are fully entitled to wallow. Everyone else can support them, collectively cheer each other on & try to laugh at the TTc madness.

My march plan is epo from now to ov. Start clomid tomorrow. Opk tests from day 10 ( twice a day), DDT every second day to ov then each day for 3/4 days and cough mix from around day 9.

My friend, 40, is getting a c section today, it can happen!! We need to start seeing some bfp here!

AF got me today too Hmm
Feeling exactly the same as you two ladies. This is cycle 24 or 25 of ttc since my miscarriage...I've almost lost count now, it's so bloody depressing.

All around me friends are getting pregnant easily and popping out babies. I feel like my life is on hold and I get so damn jealous of my friends...of anyone with a bump really.

I tried clomid for 3 months last year but I didn't like the side effects at all- the usual night sweats and mood swings but also constipation and extremely light periods. I worried that it was having a bad effect on my womb lining so I told my FC I wanted to stop. I still have 3 months of tablets left....wondering if I should give them another go. But I ovulate naturally so is there any point??

Ginger, I've seen you on the clomid thread. I may join that one myself.

Looks like we will have similar cycles this month ladies! This one was 31 days but I'm usually 30 days.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 02/03/2014 18:44

Sorry fankle, it sucks. I'm feeling like a horrible person as doubly down due to af & friends little girl arriving today. However she had a hard time getting there so I am chuffed, but it's upsetting nonetheless.

Well the 3 of us are cycle buddies then , right ladies, we may not be able to control everything but we can try our hardest to give ourselves the best possible shot!

Fankle I also ov by myself but erratic cycles, I was worried about that too however it seems clomid can super boost your cycle to make you more fertile. I'm getting away quite easily with the symptoms comparatively. It's a tough call but one only you can make.

OP posts:
Fankletastic · 02/03/2014 18:53

Are you being monitored through your clomid cycles?
I wasn't. I felt a bit like they were just leaving me to my own devices and not really interested to see what the drug was going for me. I would consider going back on it if they monitored me with blood tests and scans. I'm seeing my FC in 2 weeks to discuss next steps after my lap & dye a month ago.

Fankletastic · 02/03/2014 18:54

Sorry, meant 'doing' not going!

mampam · 02/03/2014 19:01

Sorry to hear AF has got you ladies Sad onwards and upwards for this next cycle Thanks

I'm waiting for AF to appear. I've had really bad period pains today so it's just a matter of time I think. I didn't think I was due on for another 7-10 days but can't be sure as I've been fairly irregular since having my implant out in November.

Nottalotta your poor husband Grin

stubbornstains · 02/03/2014 20:16

Aaah...signed 3 jobs off over the weekend, what bliss! I can breathe again...Time to get ready for....going to Morocco on Tues, for my 40th birthday!! Without DS! First time abroad in 5 years!! Sadly, it's not going to be my fertile period- instead it's going to be 2ww PMT time.
AF's due at the end, I'm packing lots of sanitary protection. I am not tempting fate, I'm not. Tra la la la......See you all in about 10 days! xx

Gingerbreadlady1 · 02/03/2014 20:45

No, no monitoring for me which I raised with them, they said they only monitored if there's a history of problems (???!?), I'm seeing the fc on April 4th so gonna raise it then.

mampam, hope the witch stays away, fx'ed.

stubbornhappy birthday for next week, morocco! Nice, have an amazing time, try not to think about ttc at all & have lots of Wine on behalf of us old birds. Hoping you don't need the sanitary stuff. Speak when you get back x

Sparrowlegs248 · 02/03/2014 20:52

Sorry to those AF got. I think you're right ginger if AF gets you you get free pass to wallow til she fecks off

mampam oh yes, poor poor husband! He said this lunchtime 'we've not had sex today yet' to which i replied 'we can do it later, when you've had time to recover!'.

He's just gone up so will join him shortly!!

Inshock73 · 03/03/2014 07:21

:( for you Fankle and thanks for the support all. Sounds like a few of us had a sucky Sunday. I excelled myself yesterday and ate so much rubbish got a lovely headache today.

Stubborn Hope you have a lovely time in Morocco.

Happy Monday all, let's hope the week starts with a BFP or two...

Katnisscupcake · 03/03/2014 10:54

Morning all,

Sorry Ginger, Inshock and Fankle that AF got you. Onwards and upwards for next month though - but absolutely feel free to wallow!!

So as I mentioned finally got the positive OPK on Friday so dtd on Friday night (had done it Monday, Wednesday and then Friday - also the previous Sunday morning but I think that would have been too long before OV), but I always OV within 12 hours of OVing so needed to do it Saturday morning/evening. Unfortunately had a bad night with DD (horrid cold) so overslept on Saturday so didn't get chance. Then DH was out Saturday night and I had DD in my bed for a sleepover so we just have to hope that Monday/Wednesday/Friday was enough.

Not hopeful at all but weirdly had pains from both sides on Saturday which was odd!! Maybe I OVd from both sides because it was much later than normal and will have twins!! Grin Ok, so never going to happen (and not sure it's practical) but hey ho!! We can dream!!

So are we feeling any better today? I need to go and have some breakfast - I'm starving!!!

Catch you all later. xx

Katnisscupcake · 03/03/2014 11:02

Ok, should have said OV within 12 hours of +OPK, not within 12 hours of OVing - DOH!! LOL

Fankletastic · 03/03/2014 12:13

Cramps today Hmm

Inshock73 · 03/03/2014 12:43

Fingers crossed for twins Katniss :D I've been daydreaming about twins lately, both of my grandfathers were twins and my OH has twin uncles, I'm convinced if I go to IVF I'll have twin boys, I'd love twins!

I felt so sorry for myself yesterday but then today I got the result of my 21 day progesterone test which was 53.1, which I believe means I OV so it's lifted my mood! :) Doesn't explain why I'm not pregnant but at least I didn't imagine the OV symptoms and the positive opk. Today I'm happy, tomorrow I'll have moved on and be stressing about why I'm not pregnant if I've OV. oh the joys! :)

Katnisscupcake · 03/03/2014 13:49

Inshock, they say that twins can jump a generation and my Dad has Twin siblings (my Auntie and Uncle) and so far none of them have had twins and as yet, none of our generation has either. So I reckon it's only fair to let me have a shot!! Grin

Fankle, hope you're feeling OK hun!!

I've had to make an appointment for the GP tomorrow. I've had what I thought was an innocent spot on my hand now for a couple of weeks. It came to a head and burst over a week ago and since then it's grown much bigger, with a ring around it, itchy and won't heal. A bit worried because it looks very very similar (identical in one case) to the pics on google for skin cancer... I used sunbeds A LOT when I was in my 20s - about 4 a week for a year.

Just worried if it is, how it might effect our TTC journey... Sad.

mampam · 03/03/2014 14:24

Oh Katniss I'm sure it will be fine, does cancer come to a head and burst?? Sounds liked a spot that's got infected.......always best to get it checked though. Fx'ed for you. Daffodil

Still no AF but having pains on and off. DD1 is on her period so I wonder if my body is trying to get in sync with hers?

Off to college now which is an hours drive there and an hour back, won't get back til late so at least that will keep my mind off ttc for one evening at least Smile

Fankletastic · 03/03/2014 22:50

Katniss- am sure the spot on your hand will be nothing to worry about. But best to put your mind at ease by seeing you dr. Dr Google can easily help to blow minor things out of proportion!

How are the AF ladies? I was ok until this evening- period just normal and looking like it was getting lighter this afternoon. Then tonight it's just started to - sorry tmi alert- gush really fast and heavy..like for the last 3 hours. I haven't had a period this heavy for years! It's making me feel a bit funny. I'm wondering if this is normal after a lap and dye? I did have a normal period the day after the procedure (this is my 2nd AF since) so not sure what to think. It's a bit disconcerting.
