Allo ladies! Wondering if there are any other over 35's (apparently the age of fertility suicide, who knew?) ttc for over a year wanting to chat? If so, pour yourself some virtual wine and let the chatting commence!

Hi everyone

Just checking in, nothing exciting to report. Well except our luck continued over the weekend & my dp got big win playing pocker & we're gonna be able to get a holiday, yippee!! Think we both really need it so maybe a cheeky wee week away in may. Expecting to ov on sat, dp back from business trip tonight so gonna pounce. He's about to be used & abused all week Wink

Started back at the gym in a bid to aid ttc health & reflexology apt on thurs (not sure when's best to get it, just before ov?? Anyone know). Looking forward to it anyway, hopefully it'll be relaxing, although hate my feet being touched, oh dear lol!

How's everyone else doing? fankle you must be coming up to shagathon time? kegirl you're due for bfp this weekend? Good luck!

Sorry to those AF got. It's shite. No other way to put it. I'm strangely chilled this month. Think it's cause I've kinda given up on it happening without ivf.

Anyway, big rambling post.... Blah blah blah Smile

Good for you Ginger- good positive attitude

A windfall and a holiday would be enough to cheer anyone up (even me I expect- have been feeling a bit glum the last couple of days...just ttc for so long without success and without knowing why is soo draining and so shit).

How was JT? As for Reflexology it shouldn't matter when in your cycle you have it. I had some acupuncture yesterday, which was nice. She told me about the potential benefits of hypnotherapy so I might look into that. I really need to stop myself from getting so down because that probably doesn't help. Need some enforced positive thinking!

Shagging has commenced. Although DH is away for a couple of days but back tomorrow. Hoping I ov before Monday as he will be away next week as well. I hate our busy working schedules Hmm

Gingerbreadlady1 · 09/04/2014 18:19

Hi fankle, thought everyone had run away! Very quiet here, we need a bfp to cheer us up.

Jt was great, I'm not a massive fan (offered free last minute ticket) but he is talented & def still got it! Weirdly ended up 2 seats away from other friends (& it was in the arena so holds thousands) weird coincidence, only saw then as I popped out to bar!

Sorry you're so down, I find it cyclical. I'm generally not too bad till the 2ww & the inevitable bfn then very down for about a week. The merry go round continues. Hope you ov before mon. I can relate to the troubles work throws into ttc, I work shifts and both of us can be away for work, dp at least 1 day a week. Resulted in a few illicit meetings in b&b's. honestly, the lengths we go to.....

My friend used hypnobirthing for her 2 kids. Was so amazing she has now trained as a hypnotherapist. She's made me a track to listen too (as opposite ends of country). It's really powerful & works for many people. Check credentials however, a lot of charlatans!

Hi all,

I've had a day of mixed emotions today.

First the good news. DD's results have come in and she has been given the all clear. So she's just going to be dinky :).

The not so good news is that the coloured cm has started again (11dpo) so I am really down, again.

On the plus side my friend's mum is a qualified but no longer practicing, reflexologist. Because she isn't practicing currently she doesn't have insurance presently but has said she will do me some reflexology for free!!!!! So I will be taking her up on that hopefully this cycle.

How is everyone else doing?

Great news on the wins ginger!!!

Tranquilitybaby · 09/04/2014 20:57

So glad your daughters results were good kegirl phew. My DD's were clear too.

Hey it's not over until it's over.

I can't work out what's wrong with me. I haven't had pmt in years but oh I've got the raging hump tonight! I feel really agitated. On CD24 with no symptoms except a bit twingy and the strops of course lol.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 09/04/2014 21:56

So glad the results were good kegirl and tranquility. I always get down in 2ww. I reckon we're due a bfp in our thread. Who will it be next.......

Anyone had amh/ovarian reserve testing done? Think I'm gonna get that done to get an idea of how much time I have left before its on to ivf?

OP posts:
stubbornstains · 10/04/2014 13:54

Can you get that on the NHS? I mean, surely that's the $60,000 question- how many eggs does one have left??

Fankletastic · 10/04/2014 14:16

No you can't have it on the NHS. And it doesn't actually tell you how many eggs you have left or how long you've got. I had an amh test privately last January and an antral follicle scan.

There are 2 different measurement scales with amh, so it's easy to get confused- just watch out for that Ginger. My reading came back as 14.1 p/mol which is classified (by that particular scale) as unsatisfactory. However the clinic were very adamant that I shouldn't worry about it because it was still on the higher side of unsatisfactory. Talk about confusing!! My antral follicle count was in the normal range. I guess with the 2 tests combined it appeared to be fairly normal. Although I still worry about my amh in case it's gone down!

I asked my FC about amh and he dismissed the test as being not at all helpful, mainly because of the 2 different measurement scales. I don't know what the other scale is or how my result would convert...and if that might have given me a slightly better prognosis.

Basically it can be very confusing so make sure you ask lots of questions if you're looking to have it done privately. Let us know if you do it and what scale they use.

stubbornstains · 10/04/2014 14:30

Oh blimey! I guess I had a vision of some kind of simple scan, and a technician going: "Right, now let's have a look at the right ovary- yes....I can see them quite clearly- there's about -hmm, 23-24-25-ish in that one. Now, let's have a look at the left..."

Ahem Blush

Gingerbreadlady1 · 10/04/2014 16:57

Lol! So did I stubborn That's great info/advice fankle ,thanks for that. Will keep you posted.

Well I had my reflexology today. Not sold on it tbh (unless of course I get my bfp this month). All seemed a bit random, poking around my feet will get me knocked up? Confused & a massage is way more relaxing therefore better for stress management. Although it was just in a spa rather than with fertility reflexologist. Maybe that's where I went wrong.

Right, tmi alert but wanted to share this in case it helps anyone on here.

Cough medicine containing robitussin or whatever it is, has made a massive diff with me for ewcm.

How's everyone doing? kegirl??

OP posts:
Fankletastic · 10/04/2014 17:09

ooh, that's good Ginger. I've never tried the cough syrup thing...what type are you using and on what days? I know that clomid can dry up secretions...and I'm afraid I still haven't seen any ewcm yet and am on cd11. Started opk tests today but negative so hope there's still time. I've been taking EPO on and off which is meant to help...

I did a bit more research on AMH and came across this helpful article on a really good blog:
www.babyhopeful.com/anti-mullerian-hormones/

Gingerbreadlady1 · 10/04/2014 17:18

Will read that in a mo thanks. I got it wrong, the active ingredient is guaifenesin, robitussin is a brand of cough med (sold in boots, fit for our purpose). I ov around cd16 & start taking it around day 10, 3 times a day (or when I remember so sometimes more, sometimes less). Think you're meant to follow instructions but I just take an unmeasured sip (naughty). It has made a huge diff, the clomid has adversely affected me that way that's what made me try it. Important thing is that should be the only active ingredient as other compounds commonly found in the medicine such as histamines have a drying affect! One I have at mo was a cheap own brand from tesco. Stop the epo after ov fankle as it affects implantation I think. Let me know if it helps!

Morning everyone how are we all doing?

12dpo and stupidly poas again - of course bfn again. Must stop testing! Urgh I'm so impatient.

Xx

Tranquilitybaby · 11/04/2014 08:06

For those using preseed how are you getting in with it?

Gingerbreadlady1 · 11/04/2014 11:20

Good morning tranquility don't despair, still plenty of time for your bfp. When's AF due? I've been using conceive plus. It's been a life safer as clomid is really drying.

Ah glad it's working for you Gingerbread x

Hi, how's everyone's weekend going? X

OP posts:
Tranquilitybaby · 12/04/2014 19:12

No sign of AF here but 28 days is tomorrow. Never go over that but no pg symptoms either. Will see what happens tomorrow x

Tranquilitybaby · 12/04/2014 22:53

I can't really comment Size3 as most of my close circle of friends are done and dusted with the baby years. It must be so hard to keep experiencing it though. Hugs to you. X

Tranquilitybaby · 12/04/2014 22:56

Well I'm out, AF just arrived :( gutted but can't say I'm surprised as didn't feel any different at all. Just feel a bit silly wasting several tests.

Onto month 2 for me x

Any updates kegirl, good luck to everyone else x

Night

stubbornstains · 13/04/2014 10:57

Awww...so sorry tranquility Sad

andrelax · 13/04/2014 12:00

Hi, have never posted before but just wanted to add my story as one to give some hope - I hope!

I tried for 8 years to get pregnant without luck, I have PCOS and a blocked tube and my partner has a low sperm count so the doctors said we had no chance of getting pregnant naturally. At this point I was 40.

We signed up for IVF and it was all going to start at 9am Monday morning. The night before I was feeling really sick and thought it was nerves but my partner said do a test just in case. So I did and there he was!! My beautiful boy - a proper miracle just in the nick of time.

Also a couple of years after he was born my always irregular cycle settled down to be like clockwork which was a novelty!

The doctors don't know everything - please stay positive and believe its possible 'despite' your age. I really recommend the book Right Time Baby by Claudia Spahr. It will help to counteract some of the brainwashing re older women's fertility.

Sorry for the essay but hope it helps someone

Gingerbreadlady1 · 13/04/2014 14:23

So sorry tranquility.

andrelax thank you so much for sharing your story. I think we are all in need of a success story at the moment! Congratulations and yes, def gives me hope! Xx
