Allo ladies! Wondering if there are any other over 35's (apparently the age of fertility suicide, who knew?) ttc for over a year wanting to chat? If so, pour yourself some virtual wine and let the chatting commence!

Congrats mampam !!! Great news.

katnisscupcake keeping everything crossed for you just in case. If not get back on the folic acid as it's good for the body anyway and stop thinking about TTC and just enjoy some fun with your OH. Xxx

Tranquilitybaby · 11/03/2014 20:39

What tests do you recommend. Thought I'd get some in for next month (think we missed the boat this month). X

Katnisscupcake · 11/03/2014 21:03

If you go onto ebay and search ovulation tests and pregnancy tests, loads will come up. The strip ones are ultra sensitive and cheap aswell!!

Katnisscupcake · 12/03/2014 09:23

Feeling really down today ladies Sad. More coloured CM this morning so not long now. Plus I remembered this morning that in April it'll be 2 years since we started TTC DC#2. Sad Sad Sad

Gingerbreadlady1 · 12/03/2014 09:47

Sorry you're feeling low katniss, it's rubbish this, once a month we get to feel awful. However I like to tell myself that when I get my bfp, ill look back on this time & kinda see it as a right of passage. And then ill be really ready. Don't know if that makes any sense (prob not) alternatively call a friend and go for a posh boozy lunch/ buy nice supplies for dinner/go on line shopping. You'll still feel shit but maybe a little less shit.

Thanks Ginger, I'll have to hold out on the nice food until after my weigh-in on Friday. I think that's why it feels worse. Because I'm dieting I can't even commiserate myself with some nice food Sad. I just can't believe that two years on we've been blessed with one MC and no baby.

Am I allowed to wallow for a few days? Pretty please? Sad

Gingerbreadlady1 · 12/03/2014 10:03

Abso-f'ing-lutely! You wallow away honey, completely entitled. The diet thing does make us so much harder to cheer up eat, I've been doing ww for ages.

OP posts:
Katnisscupcake · 12/03/2014 11:26

If I can hang on until Friday I can have something nice then... I tend to only do the diet from Monday - Thursday... and then relax a bit at weekends.

I don't know why I feel so down this month, probably because it's been a weirdly long cycle because I wasn't well... Of course it could be that I didn't actually OV at all!!!

Tranquilitybaby · 12/03/2014 14:27

You wallow away katnisscupcake you are allowed Hun. But try to keep positive xxxx

Tranquilitybaby · 12/03/2014 14:28

Have you tried Preseed? Might be worth a look at.

X

mampam · 12/03/2014 19:02

Hi all, hope you are all ok? I think you are definitely allowed to wallow Katniss and then buy yourself a nice treat to eat on Friday after your weigh in. Have you ever tried reflexology? I have a friend who does it and swears she has got women pregnant Hmm

Ginger sorry I hadn't realised you'd asked if I was ok yesterday. Yes I am but was having a bit of a freak out. Haven't really had much time to think about it today as have had a really full on day at work. Feeling guilty too about submitting the application form......if I got offered the job I could be in a real dilemma but I guess that there's no use me worrying about something that hasn't happened. Hope you ok?

Tranquility what is preseed?

Tawdry you never know your symptoms could be a sign of something! Another week or so and you'll know Smile

Gingerbreadlady1 · 12/03/2014 19:16

mampam, sensed you were a bit freaked, you've got a while to get used to it lol! Can imagine it takes a while to sink in! Submit the form & just see what happens, you have plenty of time to make choices. Even just for interview experience.

katnis, how you feeling?

How's everyone else doing?

Oooh mampam, you've reminded me that this time last year before seeing the fertility consultant I was looking into acupuncture in newton abbot. Now I can give her all the information following my op etc I can go for some sessions.

Feel better now that I have a plan!!

Hope everyone else is feeling ok. Xxx

TawdryTatou · 12/03/2014 19:57

Argh, can someone do the maths for me please?

LMP was 22nd February. Next due 22nd March. Ish.

Usually a 25-28 day cycle.

Am feeling very PMTish. Achey boobs, bloated tum, funny taste in mouth.

Surely it's too early for pregnancy symptoms or PMT?

What's going on?Confused

PaulaFletch14 · 12/03/2014 20:05

Doing ok Gingerbread

Slightly apprehensive me and DP have appointment next Wednesday at Care fertility clinic for scan and semen test. Just after my miscarriage three months ago I wanted a check up. Just scared they'll tell me no chance

I don't know why when I've conceived naturally just guess I want it so much I'm scared of bad news

TawdryTatou · 12/03/2014 20:05

I'm such an amateur Blush

TawdryTatou · 12/03/2014 20:06

I'm sure it'll be ok, Paula. It'll put your mind at rest.

Fankletastic · 12/03/2014 21:32

Sorry you've had a depressing day Katniss. You're entitled to wallow and treat yourself if it makes you feel a bit better.

Think I've been a bit quiet on here recently. Nothing wrong, just busy and trying not to obsess/ freak out this month. Lots of pregnancy announcements and a birth announcement too, which is great, but always makes me think 'when will it be me'? Very pleased to hear about your BFP Mampam...seems you have no trouble conceiving. Lucky you!

I've got my appointment with the FC on Monday so a bit apprehensive about where we go from here. I think the only option for us now is assisted conception so I just have to let that sink in. And try to think if it as a positive thing and not a failure to conceive naturally.

I read that article that Earhat mentioned. While it is encouraging for us older ladies, the fact remains that some people - whether 26 or 36 years of age- still struggle to conceive. The woman that wrote that article was clearly still very fertile in her late 30's and seemed to have no trouble conceiving. That's not the case for everyone.

Sometimes I wish I had a crystal ball! Maybe I'll miraculously regain my fertility upon turning 35 next week!! Fingers crossed :-)

Tranquilitybaby · 12/03/2014 22:34

mampam it's a sperm friendly lubricant that lots of people seem to be using and get BFP with! Have a google, Amazon sell it x

Gingerbreadlady1 · 12/03/2014 22:56

tawdry, by my reckoning your bfp will be due 21-24 so would be too early for symptoms I think, however there seems to be no hard rules in this game!

mampam · 13/03/2014 05:31

Goodluck with your appointment Fankle don't look upon it as a failure to conceive but a means to getting the results you want. My best friends cousin conceived with IVF and had beautiful twin boys, she assumed that she could never conceive naturally yet 11 months later she gave birth to a baby girl! It would seem that the IVF kick started her body's fertility and now she really has her hands full Grin

Katniss definitely try the acupuncture, it's worth a go even if just for a relaxing hour or so each week Smile

Katnisscupcake · 13/03/2014 07:49

Morning all,

Fankle, I thought the same when I read that article. Plus it kept saying 34-39 and I'm 40 in June so that put my off aswell... Semantics I know but I guess when you're really low about something the pessimism comes out, on a better day I would have been optimistic about the article.

So I emailed the Acupuncturist last night and she's come back to me this morning and she only works Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. That doesn't help me when my days off are Friday, Saturday and Sunday!!! So I may have to go down the Reflexology route.

Alternatively a friend of a friend does the 'Bowen Technique' I've never heard of it but apparently that's supposed to help and my friend is seeing her friend today so will get me a leaflet.

I guess anything will help...

Tawdry, I would agree with Ginger in that it is a bit too early for symptoms. I try not to symptom spot anymore because all the ones I've had when getting BFPs have been the same that you have when AF is coming. Plus bear in mind that things like nausea, tiredness etc don't kick in until 6 weeks, when the HCG levels are flying high!! Smile

Fankletastic · 13/03/2014 12:50

MamPam- I do like hearing stories like that. If I do ever get pregnant and manage to pop one out, I swear I will not go back to using contraceptives afterwards. And if I get pregnant v soon afterwards, then bloody hurrah!!! Bring it on!

I've tried acupuncture, reflexology, Chinese herbs, abdominal massage, Bach flower remedies, reiki, yoga, meditation- but never heard of the Bowen technique. Will have to investigate. Although I do think you can send yourself loopy trying all the alternatives, and spend a ton of money in the process. The desire to have children can send us off down many a garden path searching for the magic cure. I don't think there is one. It will happen when and if it's meant to happen. You've just got to try your level best to keep your head (even when your heart is breaking). If any of these alternatives help you to do that then bash on!

mampam · 14/03/2014 17:52

I'd be interested to know what the Bowen Technique is too Smile

Sparrowlegs248 · 14/03/2014 18:02

I've used the bowen therapy on my horse! Not for fertility mind. Hes aboy. With no testicles.
