So, here it is, Part 4! May it bring lots of BFP's for those of us still waiting and may it bring happy healthy pregnancies for those who are fabulously pregnant.

Hungry that's a good point, even if you plan carefully timings of TTC might not go your way. I once heard of friends of a friend who took off two weeks in December in order to TTC a baby because they were so keen to ensure that it would be born in Sept for academic reasons....
I never did find out what happened. Even at the time I thought it was a bit OTT given you really only need one or two lucky days to conceive, but now I wonder whether they realised that a December conception would actually mean an Aug birth, which they were trying to avoid...

Metal that sounds like a really good plan, it's easy to get caught up in TTC and family plans, but focusing on your own wishes and ambitions would be great I think. Don't write of studying with 2 DC, loads of people on MN do it. Maybe you could train as a HCA and then study for a nursing degree when DC are older? Glad you are feeling ok, savour that rest on the sofa Thanks

Oh, and my fingers are very very crossed for you gingerbread, hope AF is staying away x

BetterNotBitter · 18/02/2014 15:14

How did you get on with the midwife yesterday hungry?

Hope theres been no af gingerbread how are you?

Ah guiness we would have been exactly the same with pausing ttc to avoid January as dds birthday is jan & we didnt want two that soon after Christmas. That said, I do think you can go on and on, we were also going to pause to avoid August so it wouldn't be youngest in its academic year but we decided not to and good job as we conceived that month.

hazy my scan is the 13th & I think hungrys is around then too so its going to be a scan boom few weeks!!

BetterNotBitter · 18/02/2014 15:16

Oops. Didnt realise there was another page. Ah metal I'm pleased to hear youre feeling not too bad physically. What a horrible ordeal youve had. Good plan re focussing on something else though.

SwedeAway · 18/02/2014 15:37

Yes I agree with Hungry, I am also too impatient to plan ttc around possible due dates. This is now very apparent since I am apparently only 6+1 which puts due date at 13 October and DD's bday is the 18th Oct. At this stage I really do not care as I am only concerned about being pg. Hopefully the next three weeks will go quickly (yeah right). It's like being back in the 2ww.

Thanks for the kind welcomes ladies, it's nice to see you all chatting so much and being supportive. I hope these next few weeks pass as soon as possible Swede.

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 18/02/2014 16:38

Before I started I wanted to avoid winter babies, december babies, christmas babies, january babies...but now I just don't care! You can't plan these things, and like someone else said the baby may be early/late anyway. I think I will just be going for it, regardless of the resulting due date! If this cycle is successful my due date will be what it was with DD, and I actually think that's kind of funny and nice now, whereas 8 months ago I would of thought it would be awful.
I don't really want to say anything incase I jinx myself, but still no AF. I keep having cramps and twinges and thinking it could be a sign, but I am trying (and failing) not to get my hopes up. Wish I'd bloody just peed on a stick this morning, but I'm only 9dpo so probably largely pointless. Not sure tomorrow will even show anything, how does it work if you have a short LP!?
Metal you seem to be on the mend a bit, think focussing on something else is a great idea. I too am going to try the same. What do you currently do now for work, if you don't mind me asking? Vague general area if you are worried about giving too much away! Are you already in the health profession?

Swede good news on the scan, even if you couldn't see much. Hopefully no news is good news? Not too long to wait til the next one. Have you come any further on a nanny decision?

Guinness can't believe someone opened your mail! Hope they were embarrassed too! A break might be hard in terms of waiting, but hopefully it will give you a chance to take a mental break and refocus, and fill you with energy and positivity to try again in April/May when hopefully you will catch straight away! Will you give up completely? Could you not just keep having unprotected sex but don't time within your fertile period, so if it happens it happens, but you're not expecting it?

Toothpaste what a mean woman. To think she's a 'manager' too! Is there a chance she's jealous of your pg? Or is she past all that? Have you decided not to go back to work then after baby no.2, or just that job!?

Sorry to anyone else I've missed....struggling to concentrate today! Welcome to Vicky!

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 18/02/2014 16:40

Think I need to set myself a word limit!!!!!

HungryHorace · 18/02/2014 16:55

Better, midwife was fine, though I felt a bit rushed. Said my headaches etc were likely to be hormonal as wee and BP fine.

Told me to rest and drink plenty. Ha de ha to the former!

Didn't listen for heartbeat. Gutted about that. Said they don't listen at 16 weeks now as there's a chance they won't find it. :-(

My scan is on 26th March. Annoyed it isn't the week before as I'll be 20+6.

Metal, I'm glad you're resting and are felling relatively OK. You never know, your cycle may be 'reset' by all that's happened.

Swede, maybe it's because we are older that we wouldn't pause TTC? Or that we are just impatient?!

Toothpaste, IME there is always one person like that, sadly. Just try to focus on your job and the fact that mat leave isn't too far around the corner. :-)

HungryHorace · 18/02/2014 17:00

Gingerbread, what a short LP means is that the uterine lining breaks down before implantation can successfully take place, which means that you can't sustain pregnancy.

As implantation takes place at 6-12 DPO, you can get a positive HPT from 10-16 DPO. Usually!

In your position I'd say to wait til 12 DPO as I'd hopefully say you've a good chance if you get that far. But in practice I'd POAS tomorrow!

Metalhead · 18/02/2014 17:09

I'm a business journalist working for a trade magazine Ginger, so completely un-healthcare related! Hmm I just want to do something more fulfilling and worthwhile, plus my job has changed quite a bit since I've had DD and not for the better.

Hungry that's what I'm hoping, I'm sure when my periods first returned after I stopped bf they weren't as irregular as last year. Maybe this pregnancy, even though short lived, will make me a bit more regular again!

And I won't be pausing ttc for any reasons other than health either. The last 8 months have shown me that you just never know what's going to happen so there's no point over-planning these things.

Toothpastekissesno2 · 18/02/2014 21:39

Thanks everyone for messages re work cow! She is so two faced and has been trying to suck up to me today. I don't understand how or why someone would want to be like that. Such a waste of life being that malicious. I just hope one day she is a mum trying to make it all work.
AnyWAY concentrating on my lovely ds and growing bump. Sounds like lots of us need to find new jobs in the future! Maybe we need to think of flexi working opportunities that pay well...hmm!

lovesmycake · 19/02/2014 09:03

Hello, Was wondering if I can join? TTC#2 cycle 5. Had two miscarriages before DS was born he is 16 months.

AF due tomo I am sympton spotting like crazy and have convinced myself I'm def not PG and can't concentrate on work at all!!

You all seem like a very positive bunch, guess I'm hoping for some of that positivity to rub off on me (smile)

lovesmycake · 19/02/2014 09:04

hmm Smile

Metalhead · 19/02/2014 09:21

Welcome loves! Are you going to poas tomorrow if AF doesn't show up?

Sorry to hear about your past losses, I've just had a mc myself so know how hard it is.

HungryHorace · 19/02/2014 09:42

Hi Cake! Great name :-)

Gingerbread, any news?

We are going through crappy nights with teething at the moment. Yawn

Toothpaste, we need to set something up together to avoid idiots!

lovesmycake · 19/02/2014 09:43

Metal I'm really not sure whether to POAS, which I know is completely ridiculous? Not knowing seems easier at the moment then a BFN which is stupid because not knowing is horrible as well. Guess my head is a bit muddled at the mo.

So sorry to hear about your mc too. Sometimes this whole process seems so unnecessarily hard.

BetterNotBitter · 19/02/2014 10:09

Glad the mw tested your wee n bp thoigh hungry. Put your mind at rest abit. Ive had the awful headaches since about 10 weeks but if it helps heu just stopped last week so hopefully you'll be similar and not long left of them. I always thought I drank plenty & I was a bit stubborn at fiest thinking it couldnt be dehydration but to be fair when I did make a conscious effort to drink more, it did help. It didnt stop them, but did lessen the intensity.

Hoping no af for you this morning gingerbread. Will this be 10dpo? At least, even if af does show after today (which hopefully you'll get your bfp and it wont!) But at least of it does your LP has been longer this time, thats got to be a good thing. What time is your doc appt tomorrow?

toothpaste im jumping on the new job bandwagon too, as we're planning on me staying at home until all children are at least at nursery, I've just started an open university degree part time so I'll hopefully be able to start a new career once children are all older.

loves welcome! I was exactly the same, I would rather find out I wasnt pregnant by af arriving rather than seeing a bfn!! Good luck for tomorrow.

Metalhead · 19/02/2014 11:06

You're a more patient woman than me loves! Fx AF will stay away for you, and for you Gingerbread.

What course are you doing Better, if you don't mind me asking? I've looked into OU but not sure I'd have the discipline to stick with it.

Urgh, I felt fine this morning so went back to work, but I'm actually feeling really exhausted now so I think I'll have to take the afternoon off again. Guess sitting on the sofa watching telly isn't as taxing as sitting in front of a computer and actually using your brain after all...

lovesmycake · 19/02/2014 11:41

I don't think it's patience just me being a scaredy cat!

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 19/02/2014 12:38

Hi all,
Well AF arrived this morning, just as I was thinking of peeing in a cup. Sad That was my last chance to have an age gap of less than 3 years. It does put my cycle back to 26 days, and LP 10 days so a bit more like it used to be. Off to the doctors I go tomorrow then, appointment is at 9.20. I hope it is a short LP that's the problem, seems like that could be a straightforward thing to fix with vitamins etc, and doesn't seem too serious a problem when put against crap sperm or no ovulation. I have had lots of coffee and half a pack of biscuits this morning, and looking forward to some red wine when I get home.
Hungry how are you feeling? Will you be upping your water intake? Hope you manage to get some extra rest!! (ha). Does DD nap regularly during the day?
Good luck with your course Better! How long does it last? Will you be able to take a break when baby is born?
I signed up to do a teaching assistant course last october, haven't actually found the time to start it yet Blush It needs to be done by october though so I better get cracking!

Good luck this cycle loves, hope AF keeps away for you, if not maybe we can be cycle buddies!! How long are your cycles normally?

GingerbreadBabyPlease · 19/02/2014 12:40

Metal sorry you're feeling rubbish again, definately get back to the sofa, and get the kettle on!! Hope work are understanding at least about you taking the time off you need?
That is a big profession jump for you! My job is the same in that it has completely changed since I got back from mat leave and it is totally unfulfilling, I would love to do a meaningful, worthwhile job, I did consider midwifery but can't decide if that would be a terrible or brilliant idea when potentially faced with secondary infertility.....

Metalhead · 19/02/2014 13:02

Ah Ginger I'm so sorry AF got you again! Hope your GP is helpful tomorrow. Definitely enjoy the coffee and vino today!

My boss has been very understanding thankfully, and I did manage to get all my work for this week finished this morning so not feeling too bad about putting my feet up again this afternoon. I started bleeding again too so I guess recovery wasn't as quick as I first thought...

SwedeAway · 19/02/2014 13:11

How sad am I. Just POAS'd at work, yep still pg. No idea why I did that?

Sorry about AF Ginger, I truly hope you get some answers tomorrow!

Here time is standing absolutely still. How can it only be Wednesday, this week must be the slowest week in history!!!

OP posts:
lovesmycake · 19/02/2014 13:22

Sorry about AF ginger. My cycle is 28 days normally but haven't been keeping track for long so 'normally' might be stretching it a little bit. Would be good to have someone to keep me company in the waiting game! Good luck for tomo

Metal yay to understanding bosses mine were brilliant when I had my mc's it's such a tiring and emotional time you need all the support you can get.

I agree that this is indeed the longest week in history...............

Kt1991 · 19/02/2014 15:34

First of all hello to the newbies :) good luck to you all this thread has been quite lucky.
Sorry AF got you gingerbread :( hope the drs apt will help tomorrow, and you get your BFP soon. Enjoy your wine tonight!
Sorry your still feeling rubbish metal rest as much as you can, good your work are being understanding :)
I am well and truly knackered, I've been getting headaches too hungry how are yours today? I put it down to being on the computer a lot without much of a break at work though, also we had our systems updated, and its not easy to see unless you go closer to the screen to read things so could be that. I think I've got an eye infection again though, only had one last month, so I might book opticians as I used to wear glasses for work in my old job before I went on mat leave with DS, but eye sight got better when i finished mat leave strangely! so could need them again.
How's everyone else doing? Sorry you've got people gossiping at your work toothpaste mines just the same, it got round that I was pregnant cause someone overheard something I had said and now everyone knows! Think I will be re thinking about my job too!
