imps to add to the info on Long protocal, my doc said she preferred it for people like me who have very short cycles, so that all the eggs ( as far as possible) start growing at the same time. Or it could just be that my clinic just does LP, who knows!

smegs and musical good luck with the house-hunting

Oh I PIAR again today and nearly wished I hadn't as it took ages for a faint line to appear on the IC. But I think last year I got a really faint line on an IC after my trigger shot when my HCg levels should have been up around 1000. Anyway I still haev sore boobs and really slight nausea so I'm thinking everything is still OK. next test will be Friday, which is OTD, so then I get to speak to the clinic and find out what happens next. And hopefully MrB might start to believe that I am actually pregnant :o

NoMaybeAboutIt · 12/03/2014 09:56

Beedle ICs are crap! Fact. I was getting 2-3 weeks on a CBD and a really faint line on the cheapie. I'm so excited for you!! It's such a nerve racking time too Smile

Can only echo what everyone has said Imps about the IVF. My clinic prefer long protocol, it's also in part to the fact that they can time things better. As for waiting times, it really does vary. My clinic were brilliant, no waiting times at all, but it took forever for my referring hospital to get their act together and forward everything on to the clinic.

How are you feeling today Cups?

Exciting house news Smegs. Please say you're coming to sunny Essex Wink. Now that Musical is leaving the county!

ScrambledSmegs · 12/03/2014 11:03

We're looking in Bedfordshire atm (not too far from Cambridge), although we are also looking around Saffron Walden, Maybe! Stupidly we've fallen for a house without knowing much about the surrounding area. Doing frantic research right now. Oh, and there will be the fun of trying to get E1 into schools after we've already applied for the ones near our current home. Joy!

Cups I went to NYC when I was 18, so it's probably changed quite a bit. However I really liked Greenwich Village, very relaxed vibe in comparison with the rest of the city. Did a bit of a muso tour, Washington Square Park, Bleecker Street etc. Obviously these days I'd probably have to go to Central Park, in particular the zoo, thanks to the bloody Madagascar films!

Am very Confused at all these long/short protocols, despite the very clear and knowledgeable explanations. It's like witchcraft to me! Fx for you all. And Beedle, ICs are rubbish, I never got proper clear lines with them even when I knew I was definitely pregnant so I always bought a pink test for when it really mattered. Can you get hold of them?

BeedlesPineNeedles · 12/03/2014 11:45

sorry we're confusing you smegs :o

And you don't need to worry I used a FRER on Sunday I don't think there would have been a second line at all on an IC then - and as I really wasn't expecting the 2nd line I had already emptied my ramekin :o

keepitgoing · 12/03/2014 12:18

imps I did short protocol as we were abroad and private. fewer drugs, and takes one month not two. maybe get fewer eggs as the others say as they don't all start from the same point but I got 11, 7 of which fertilised so must have been ok.

beedle you are sounding so sane and calm!! Grin

BeedlesPineNeedles · 12/03/2014 12:29

keep actually I am feeling surprisingly calm Shock but I'm also sure I won't be once we get closer to the first scan, or if I have any bleeding etc etc
Its nice at the moment that its mine and MrB's secret (along with you lot and however many other people that lurk here :o )

Imps9 · 12/03/2014 13:02

Morning campers! Thank for all the IVF info - I shall just go with the flow really. Had some swabs this morning (chlamidya (sp??) test) and found out that they did the wrong blood test last week - actually, it was a two-fold error as the doctor originally told me to come in on day 5 of cycle for LH/FSH (?) test and then the nurse sent the bloods off for progesterone testing. D'oh - still I guess the more blood tests I have, the easier they will become

To all the house hunters! (I think that's just Smegs and Musical actually) - I live in Cambs so any questions, just ask! Saffron Walden is lovely with lots going on - I've always quite fancied living there myself.

Beedle - what does OTD mean??

Oooh I make it lunch o'clock...

BeedlesPineNeedles · 12/03/2014 13:42

imps OTD =Official Test Date. My clinic likes you to wait until 15 days after transfer (of a 2 day embryo) to test. So 17dpo, other clinics are different and want you to test a bit earlier.

But both times I have had progesterone supplements AF has arrived on time (i.e. long before the 15 days are up). This time it was a completely natural cycle so no supplements at all, but I still have to wait until Friday to tell them about the BFP. Some clinics will want you to go in for a blood test on OTD but my clinic just accepts what I tell them (I think)

BeedlesPineNeedles · 12/03/2014 13:44

Oh and sorry they screwed up your blood tests, how annoying Angry

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 12/03/2014 15:22

Are all the Brookers moving to Cambridgeshire?! My in laws live in Suffolk but the nearest city is Cambridge. I love it around that area.

Musical fingers crossed that you can haggle the price down a bit!

Smegs hopefully the house you have found is in a nice area. It's really difficult moving somewhere completely new. You need an insider to tell you all the nicest places to live.

Imps Angry that they have to do the blood tests again. At this rate you will soon be over any fear of needles Grin don't worry too much over how IVF works, I was so confused at first but I was an expert within the first week!

Beedle IC are notoriously crap. I got a 1-2 weeks on a clear blue with my BFP but couldn't see anything on an IC.

AFM I just popped back to update you guys as my consultant has called today and apologised. Apparently she came to see me in recovery but I was too out of it to talk. She did come to the ward to see me at about 8pm as she had been stuck in A&E with an emergency. Obviously we had gone by then as we were told she had gone home. Anyway apparently my lining looked normal thank god and they removed a lot of it while doing the scratch. The plan is to now start short protocol in about 2 weeks when I get my next AF. If my lining is too thick I will be given some tablets to induce more bleeding and then start a week later. Im so relieved that I might actually be starting soon. My last cycle was in July and the wait has been horrendous. I'm just desperate to have another shot at getting that elusive BFP.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 12/03/2014 17:15

Oh Cups this has madey day. I'm so pleased for you lovely xxx

Imps what a pain! I forgot to ask, was all well with that client in the end?

Beedle my OTD was 17DPO too. Such a long bloody wait! Will they do bloods or just make you wait for a scan?

Imps9 · 12/03/2014 17:24

Oh Cups I hadn't realised that you'd had a BFP previously - I'm really sorry. Was that as a result of previous IVF or have you not had any rounds of IVF treatment yet? Sorry, I am so out of the loop.

I think your idea of all Brookers moving to Cambs is an excellent one - come on, all of you shift your arses in my direction...

Imps9 · 12/03/2014 17:26

maybe - client cancelled on me in the end! Apparently he had flu, but I know full well that it's because he hates me ;)

SweetieTime · 12/03/2014 19:50

Beedle I am popping in to add my positive vibes and support to you until OTD. I tested way early something like 9 days post transfer and got a faint smudge of a line on an IC, it took days for a strong line on an IC.

Cups hope you are ok and DH is looking after you. Glad you heard from the consultant and can get started so soon. I agree that waiting is the worst part of things. NYC sounds great too. There is loads of time to decide what to do there.

musicalmrs · 12/03/2014 21:37

Beedle, brooking lots for you. FWIW, I got very faint lines on ICs (the first were smudges), but then a good positive on a FRER - they're just so so sensitive in comparison.

Cups, hurrah for your lovely consultant, and hurrah for starting soon! So pleased for you :)

Smegs, oooh what part of Beds? We've been looking there too! I may have to message you about this.. Wink

Imps! Hurrah for Cambs! Where abouts are you? We're thinking S Cambs at the mo (just saw a gorgeous house there). We're also looking at north Essex (Maybe's way, but it's very expensive in her neck of the woods!), Beds and Herts. Saw five houses at the weekend, four in Beds and one in Cambs.

Tomorrow our house goes on the market-scary. Have spent the evening making it look show home esque, and luckily DD and I are out tomorrow morning, so not enough time to make it messy again I hope! We also have a meeting with our advisor, so keeping fingers crossed we can borrow as much as we hope (and as much as she thought we could with her initial calculations!).

NoCupcakesOrCocktails · 12/03/2014 22:14

Thanks Sweetie, Maybe and Musical. I'm really hoping I do start in a few weeks as I can't stand anymore delays.

Good luck for tomorrow musical Smile

Imps I've had one ICSI cycle so far in July last year. I got a BFP but miscarried at 6 weeks.

I've started bleeding again and have lots of cramps/shoulder pain so I think I've probably done too much today. Back to taking it easy tomorrow.

BeedlesPineNeedles · 13/03/2014 06:51

cups that sounds really promising, I'm so pleased about what your consultant said and now she has explained I'll take back those nasty things I was thinking about her going home before talking to you :o Hope you feel a bit better soon.

imps I have no intention of moving to Cambridgeshire, sorry. you could move here, excellent parental leave and a nursery place is about 100 per month - even less if you're on a low income Shock and to help you get to that stage, 3 free goes of IVF. In fact if you all moved here it would negate the biggest downside of living here, which is having no-one other than MrB to talk English to.

musical hope the house is still looking perfect!

Feeling rather crampy today, but different from AF-crampy. I was convinced it was all over at about 2am as I woke up in actual pain, but it went away fairly quickly, so I'm feeling OK now.

Imps9 · 13/03/2014 07:45

Oooh Beedle how worrying - glad no bleeding though. Gosh, how do people stay sane during pregnancy? The worrying must be all-consuming.

Cups really really sad to hear about the mc and sorry I wasn't here at the time. I am BROOKING NOW ARGUMENT that you are next in line for a BFP and one that sticks around for the duration. Consultant sounds like she's got a plan so soon enough it will be all systems go :)

Beedle sure you can't be tempted to move to Cambs? House prices are extortionate, as is child care and basically everything else, plus you'd have the added benefit of pitifully low SMP. What's not to like? Hmm. As for IVF, I think that we get 3 goes, but not sure. Also not sure if ICSI is available on NHS and that's what we'd need. Just have to see I suppose.

Mega foggy today - take care out there, kids.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 13/03/2014 10:13

Glad you're ok Beedle. I had lots of cramping in the early days. It's just blastobeedle getting comfy Smile

Imps I think you're classed as the same area as us as far as IVF goes. 3 fresh and 3 frozen cycles, and ICSI is included, as that's what we had. Are you looking at Bourn hall per chance?

Sorry to hear about the bleeding Cups. Hope you're taking it nice and easy today

keepitgoing · 13/03/2014 10:36

I recently moved away from a small s cambs village...

icsi would be covered imps if that's what you need, but I think it was only one round in cambs

cups great news you can start soon! now take it easy.

hugs to bfpeedle and beedle

Imps9 · 13/03/2014 11:06

I'm not looking at anywhere Maybe - didn't realise that you got a choice of opinions?? Were you at Bourn Hall?

Imps9 · 13/03/2014 11:07

Options, not opinions...

NoMaybeAboutIt · 13/03/2014 11:14

Yes, you get a choice Imps. We were at Bourn Hall's Essex clinic, but could've gone to Cambridge if we had wanted. Also had a choice of London. We had 3 rounds of ICSI covered as it would be our only treatment option.

BeedlesPineNeedles · 14/03/2014 06:37

So OTD and I'm still pregnant :o I was hoping that the CB digital would say 2-3 weeks but it was only 1-2, but I'm sure that this is perfectly normal. MrB is a bit happier now he has seen it in words, but he's still more worried than I am about it going wrong. Going to ring the clinic this morning and hopefully get a date for the first scan.

NoMaybeAboutIt · 14/03/2014 06:55

Woohoo!!! Congratulations Beedle!!!! So pleased for you lovely. Don't worry about what the weeks say, they're known for being tempremtal. Can wait to hear what the clinic say Grin Thanks
