This is a positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Newcomers very much welcome!

Village I've nothing practical to add, just wanted to say that I remember how stressful it is waiting for the 'official' test day and how hopes go up and down like a yoyo.

Am thinking of you and hope you have the BFP you long for. Good luck.

Mel3062 · 17/04/2014 19:46

Village and belly the very best of luck to you both, let's keep this good news going!
I would do as the other ladies have said and get a clearblue, theirs something about seeing it in words rather than squinting at lines x

MattsMamma · 17/04/2014 23:04

Thanks for your advice ladies x. Looking like I am definitely out this month although something is different in that AF has showed up but (tmi) only very scant and brown and its never ever like that - always heavy first 2 days and then tapering off so think the pred might be starting to mess things up for me - I don't know :(

Anyway - gutted that another month goes by and still no Bfp.

VILLAGE - I would definitely do once a week with the clear blue digital x

Tumtimes1 · 18/04/2014 07:46

Hey all.
village defo get invoked eithe the digi test and then after you have your 1-2 weeks leave it for 7 whole days and then test again. GOod luck.

mattsmama sorry to read you are out this month. I would just like to revert back to your previous question about the smiley sticks. I too have had the same issue. Solid smiley on stay day 11 and the solid smiley again later on. (day 14) I therefore would stick to a clear blue fertility monitor which I found much more accurate. I would then use on occassion an additional cheaper opk to check of an evening. That way all bases covered.

I had another scan last night just to check the fluid. This leakage has made me a paranoid android but has defo slowed up since the thrush pesseries. Baby was all ok, as she was lying quite nicely the sonographer suddenly flicked to a 3d shot of her. She looked funny. Anyway was quite an experience but would probably have that again when I am further along.
I asked why I have had limited flutters etc and she said my placenta is on my front. Plus I am rather squishy as a lady anyway so that probably cushions the blows.

For this on Mr S's protocol of progesterone. (or any progesterone protocol) Did you come off at 16 weeks and did you notice any difference? I am on one pessery every other day but coming off in 3 days and a little worried.

Hey everyone hope you're ok x

Tumtimes1 · 18/04/2014 07:47

Invoked - involved.

VillageMum · 18/04/2014 07:58

mel I'm so sorry. Maybe see what next AF is like? They can vary!

Ladies it looks like bad news for me. AF should be due today and though it hasn't arrived, I tested with a Clearblue digi this morning and got 'not pregnant'. The test's sensitivity is 25 miu. By today it should say '1-2 weeks'. And I'm still only getting a faint line on the sensitive hpts - there's been no progression at all since 10 DPO and I'm now 16 DPO. This does look like a chemical.

I've never had one before. Louise is away till next Thursday so can't ask for advice... What do I do? I'm thinking I should continue the 25mg pred and cyclogest until Tuesday (after bank holiday) and test again then in the hope against hope that this is just a case of very slow rising hcg (though in my heart I already know the answer), and try to speak to Cheryl/Mr S then. And in the meanwhile wait to see if AF arrives.

Any advice hugely appreciated. Sad If AF does arrive in the next week, what do I do re the pred? Do you just stop taking it after having been on it for only a fortnight to three weeks, or do you have to taper?

VillageMum · 18/04/2014 08:04

Just another question: will AF even arrive while I'm on cyclogest? Should I continue with it too till Tuesday? Thanks ladies.

MrsPixieMoo · 18/04/2014 08:17

Village I'd continue with pred and cyclogest until Tuesday and retest. Both can mess up your cycle so AF may be delayed but on balance, if it was me, I'd carry on in case it is a slow rising hcg. Everything crossed for you x

Mel3062 · 18/04/2014 08:35

Replied on other thread village x

brownstag · 18/04/2014 08:37

I'm really sorry to hear that, Village. I've been in this situation and Louise told me to continue with the pred and Cyclogest so I'm sure that's the advice she'd give you (although I didn't do so, knowing in my case that it was over).
I personally always find Cyclogest holds off AF for 2-3 days. On one hand some say that using it doesn't make any difference and that a healthy pregnancy doesn't need it, so you could argue that you're not doing anything detrimental to stop it. And, if you continue, you will make it difficult to know what's going on. But if you're prepared to hang on a few days, I would do so.

brownstag · 18/04/2014 08:47

I should add that the reason I stopped the meds was that my lines were, if anything, weaker by the day, so don't give up hope. The Clear blue is notoriously unsensitive.

VillageMum · 18/04/2014 09:07

Mrs P, mel, brown, I can't thank you enough for replying so early on Good Friday morning. Your advice really helps. Thank you so much. I'm feeling very sad. Sad

Oh brown, I hope you may be right about the Clearblue. If this isn't going to work, though, then seeing the lines fade would actually be a relief. Maybe by Tuesday things will be clearer. I'll do as you all suggest - keep going till Tuesday. It's really helpful to know what advice Louise has given you in the past.

VillageMum · 18/04/2014 09:16

brown just another one: when the test goes negative or AF arrives, I'm guessing it's ok just to stop the pred without weaning? (Thanks mel for already sharing your advice on this on the other thread too.)

brownstag · 18/04/2014 09:25

I think so, Village, but it depends on how long you would have been on the pred by then. My last pregnancy I didn't wean properly, just reduced it over 3 days, and I had got to 5 and half weeks, though my GP said I should have weaned (like you, this happened at Christmas when Mr S was away). Nothing bad happened, but I never did get official advice from Mr S on that subject as it was all over by the time he was back. I'm really hoping this works out for you. As always, it's the not knowing that's torture.
(Which other thread are you, btw, I seem to have lost track?)

MrsPixieMoo · 18/04/2014 10:47

Village sorry to hear you're sad, but totally understandable. Such a miserable journey and not made easier by the bank holiday timing. My understanding with pred is that up to three weeks you can just stop but any longer you need to taper. If you're not sure, how about reducing by 5mg / every three days until you get hold of professional advice? Will be thinking of you over the next few days and hoping for a good outcome.

BellyD · 18/04/2014 15:14

Village I am sorry to hear your news, but I would follow the others' advice and take the meds until Tuesday and then I would taper the pred. I stopped cold turkey the first time I took it PO until AF(about 12 days) and nearly lost the plot withdrawing - I was then too scared to take it for my next bfp, but have done for subsequent ones and have been fine when tapering. Big hug.

suemays · 18/04/2014 15:17

village I have replied on the other thread too. Waves to everyone else!

VillageMum · 18/04/2014 18:05

Thanks so much, everyone, for your advice, both here and on the assisted conception thread.

Brown how did you wean from the pred over three days in December? I have the single 25mg tablets, so it would be difficult to reduce by 5mg at a time unless I break them into quarters. The consensus on the other thread seems to be that if you're on the 25mg for up to about three weeks you can just stop dead, but being on 40mg for longer than 14 days required weaning. I've been on 25 mg for 16 days; maybe I'd be ok just to stop - or maybe I could break one in half and take it over two days, and do a compromise wean that way? Glad you didn't suffer any ill effects from stopping in December. Oh and another question - I'm thinking now of getting my DHEA tested; can you recommend Verisana? Is their turnaround time quite quick? I've also see a company online called Genova Diagnostics; ever heard of them? Thanks so much for all the info.

brownstag · 18/04/2014 18:14

My GP gave me soluble 5mg tablets, and I just saved the rest for subsequent cycles (I actually take only 10mg from 4 days after ovulation, until a BFP - all my own doing to reduce the amount of steroids I take - Mr S wouldn't prescribe me 10mg, so until I got those ones from the GP I was indeed cutting them up, probably very inaccurately). But you're not planning to stop immediately, are you?
Verisana were good, quicker than whatever time they advertised. But I suspect their upper DHEA range is higher than considered normal elsewhere. I don't know anything of the other company, sorry.

VillageMum · 18/04/2014 18:25

Thanks for the quick reply Brown. I'm in two minds about whether to carry on with the meds till after the weekend, or stop/taper now. I know in my gut that this pregnancy is not viable. Not registering 25miu at 16DPO does not look good, and that faint FRER line has not changed at all since 10DPO. In all my previous 6 pgs I've always had a strong positive on 25miu at 11/12 DPO which then got stronger every 48 hours. Part of me just wants to let nature take its course. It's a tough one.

MrsPixieMoo · 19/04/2014 06:14

(Hugs) Village there's no right answer. Just wanted to say I'm thinking of you.

bakingtins · 19/04/2014 07:08

village sorry to hear that. I'd carry on the meds for the next few days to give it your best shot, in the hope it's just slow to get established.

tum the placenta should have taken over from 10 weeks. My protocol re progesterone was to stop dead at 12 weeks, but I did have enough to taper off by doing one pessaries a day for a few days. I was anxious but it was fine. It feels weird to be off meds and pregnant like a normal person.....

duggs1976 · 19/04/2014 08:02

Can anyone PM me the miscarriage clinic password as I have forgotten it? Many thanks Grin

VillageMum · 19/04/2014 09:55

Mrs P thanks. It means a lot. I really hope you're doing ok. I know you've been having anxiety recently too. Just keep enjoying feeling those flutters x

Baking thanks. This morning the line is gone on FRER (sensitivity 12.5 miu) so I'm afraid there doesn't seem to be much doubt that this is a chemical.

Yet another question for those ladies who got a chemical while doing SO - did you just treat the bleed as the start of your next cycle, and carry on with letrozole straight away, or did Mr S ask you to take a break for a cycle? Haven't started bleeding yet but just trying to second-guess what might be happening next week.
