This is a positive thread for all those diagnosed with High or Very High NK Cells and looking to start TTC or already pregnant on Prednisolone and/or Intralipid treatment.

Newcomers very much welcome!

Luna couldn't run without saying I'm so thrilled you saw a heartbeat on Christmas Eve. That's such encouraging news, although I totally understand that ongoing bleeding is scary. Take great care and good luck with the scan.

ItsIgginningToLookALotLikeXmas · 04/01/2014 11:31

Mrspixie my ds had cp when I was near the end of pg. despite having it as a child, obviously I panicked! I had a test done which showed I was immune, so had peace of mind from that. Can't remember if done by GP or triage, worth calling your EPu to ask. And don't be fobbed off, they don't all know about everything. As we all know! I rather suspect you will be just fine however Smile

teamdozie · 04/01/2014 12:35

Luna I have to have intralipids too in two weeks! I think I'll be spending more time hooked up to an IV that anything else during this pregnancy! But I'm not complaining! I'll do anything for a wealthy baby!
Thinking of you today! Keep us posted!

Baking that's brilliant news! I can remember that feeling of the flutters! It's amazing! Bring on the full on blows! Lol!

MrsP I can't comment on the chickenpox thing other than defo insist to be tested. Hope A&e wasn't too painful!

Waves to everyone

Wealthy = Healthy lol

OP posts:
LunaGL · 04/01/2014 16:10

Team I think both wealthy and healthy are correct Smile

MrsPixie hope the trip to A&E wasn't too traumatic. How's your DD? Were they able to offer you any advice/help re the pregnancy?

Scan went well and there is still a baby in there measuring 12.5mm with a healthy heartbeat. Consultant couldn't find a cause for all the bleeding so I will have to try and relax a little and stop freaking out every time I go to the toilet and do the 'Knicker/toilet paper check'. The Clexane obviously is making the situation worse so deep breaths and ...relax

Next step is 8 wk scan on Tues with Mr S and intralipids

Brown you ok? Any news on your test results?

bakingtins · 04/01/2014 19:42

luna that's wonderful news! Not long to wait until Tuesday... 8 weeks is a real milestone.

teamdozie · 05/01/2014 08:50

Luna that's brilliant news! So pleased for you!

Morning everyone! (Pred insomnia)
Woken up this morning and I'm having a spaz attack as DH likes to call them!
He is away on business and my mind is wondering and making up horrible scenarios!

My first scan isn't for another two weeks! And I'm petrified it's going to be bad news! God knows why! I feel fine! No pain no b...ing! I'm too scared to say it out loud or even write it!

How pathetic! Any tips on relaxing? Lol!

I want to have a scan before 7 weeks but I know that things are so small that it will worry me if I can't see anything! And DH has decided he doesn't want me having lots of scans!

Rant over! Hope everyone is well!

OP posts:
VillageMum · 06/01/2014 10:29

MrsP, hope all's well and that the chickenpox scare is a thing of the past! If you had it as a child you should be just fine!

Baking what fantastic news about the flutters, so exciting!

Oh Team, it's impossible not to stress, especially in the early hours of the morning when it's dark. Hope daylight has brought a bit of relief and that you can get out of the house, take a walk, smell the rain... or are you at work?

Luna thinking of you xxx

Brown how are things now?

Follicle scan later today. Have to admit that since my mmcs I always dread scans of any kind, even when I'm not pregnant, can't help it!

Waves to all.

MrsPixieMoo · 06/01/2014 11:18

Hello everyone, sorry for radio silence. We were flooded in the hotel we were in for our 'relaxing break by the sea' and lost internet connection. What an adventure.

I'm about to go to the hospital now for my test to see if I am immune to chicken pox. If not, they will give me antiserum. My DM has taken DD to her home and will look after her while she has the pox, ostensibly so I can go to work and not worry about childcare, but also so I stop being a hysterical dramarama queen. At the moment I am sure I am getting spots on my scalp and that this is the pox.

I am still feeling sick most of the day and being sick if I eat meat or any sauces.

Luna I am really excited to read your scan news. It must be so scary to have ongoing bleeding but this really seems to be going well. Every time I have had a miscarriage, several friends text to say they bled throughout pregnancies and it was all fine, so that can and does happen. Good luck tomorrow.

Baking good for you having flutters. That's made me smile.

Team I am with you waking early and going mad with worry. I have been reading the positive stories on Mr S's website in the small hours and that really helps. My scan at 6 weeks was mixed as it confirmed I was pregnant (which I knew I was) but it was too small to see a heartbeat, so has left me in a bit of limbo. I've found being busy helps the weeks to pass. But other than that, I just go bonkers.

Thanks to all who have held my hand in recent poxy days xxx

Tumtimes1 · 06/01/2014 11:25

Hullo all, I havent posted on here for a while but always catch up with whats going on here from afar.

So for those that dont know me, I have had x3 miscarriages, have seen Mr Shehata and also had tests NHS wise. I am also on Pred 25mg and aspirin and Progesterone.

The news for me is I have a whispers BFP and make myself 4 weeks. Unfortunately sods law we werent "trying" this month and so I didn't bother to take my pred 1dpo. Instead I got the BFP friday night started it saturday morning which was 11dpo. Do you think this will make a difference? My NKCells are borderline not HIGH or V HIGH so I am hoping it won't make a difference.

xx

LunaGL · 06/01/2014 12:39

Team I can completely sympathise but that doesn't really help you and how you are feeling. I too have the Pred insomnia and my usual wake up time is between 4-5am which I find is when I am most lonely and worried. I think that part of it is that at that time we are alone with our thoughts with nothing and nobody to keep us occupied. I started to watch some light comedy films/breakfast news just to keep my mind from whirling - has helped a little but I will also be trying MrsPixie's idea. Re scan, I paid for a private one to keep myself sane and to stop driving my DH mad. Seeing "something" in there helped me, but I do appreciate that we are all different. Would a scan at 6 weeks and another at 8 help with the worry?

Village good luck with your scan today. I hope that you have some lovely follicles ready for the next phase of SO.

MrsPixie glad your DD is settled and that the hospital have been helpful. Fingers crossed all is well and that you don't need antiserum but great to know there is backup if it is required. Sounds as though your relaxing time away has been anything but. It is so unfair that what should be the most magical time in our lives is filled with worry and stress. I honestly don't think I have ever felt so “on edge” and am sure the lack of sleep just makes everything ten times worse.

Tum nice to see you back. Re the Pred, you have taken the best decision under the circumstances and it is just sod's law that these things happen when you least expect them and can't call anyone for advice on the best course of action. I think that by starting the Pred immediately you have given yourself the best chances possible. Now it's a case of staying positive and taking each day as it comes.

Wishing us all an easy and stress free week xxx

teamdozie · 06/01/2014 13:14

Village good luck with the scan today! I know what you mean about the fear of it every time! Thank you for your support! Daylight has literally shed new lite on the whole situation! But maybe ask me again tomorrow? I'm at work today which has helped keep me busy! But I'm surrounded by pregnant women who have no care in the world!

MrsP how many weeks are you now? That's it isn't it? It's the limbo that drives you mad! Glad to hear you are beeing tested today! Hope it's negative! When is your next scan?

Tum welcome back! A cautious congratulations! You should be fine! Maybe contact Louise and see what she thinks? She will put your mind at rest!
Do you have to have intralipids?

Xx

bakingtins · 06/01/2014 13:14

Congratulations Tum My protocol (Prof Quenby) was only to start pred from a BFP, which I didn't get until 14 days post-ov, and it's worked out for me, so hopefully you'll be fine.

MrsP hope you turn out to be immune, but good that the hospital sound on the ball if not. Hope DD gets well soon too.

Village hope the scan goes well today and Luna hope yours continues to be good news tomorrow.

bakingtins · 06/01/2014 13:16

HI team - cross posted. Glad to hear you are feeling better - it's very hard not to obsess when you are awake in the wee small hours, particularly if you are on your own. One day at a time - today you are pregnant.

teamdozie · 06/01/2014 13:21

Luna sorry crossed threads!

Thank you for your support! It's so appreciated! DH is away lots with work and I find that quite hard anyway! Like you said the most magical time of our lives is filled with worry!

Dr S doesn't really want to see me before 7 weeks cause we can't really see anything! But I might call our OBG on the NHS and ask if she will! After my scan at 7 not sure when Dr S will scan me again as he is happy fr me to not have one at 8 weeks!

Do you think j could ask to be hooked up to a machine until the end? Lol!!

Thank you

MrsPixieMoo · 06/01/2014 13:23

Baking what a great line 'today you are pregnant'. What a clever lady. I'm going to steal it for the small hours.

Had my bloods and now waiting for results. Can't concentrate so have given myself the day off work and lurking near the hospital in case they call me in for antiserum.

Team I'm 8 weeks today. Next scan on Weds.

Hugs to all, especially the early morning pred worriers xx

bakingtins · 06/01/2014 13:24

Think how much money you'd make if you invented a portable ultrasound machine, just strap it to your belly and off you go, able to have a little peep at baby any time you felt like it.

MrsPixieMoo · 06/01/2014 15:29

Baking what would be fab would be a sort of ultrasound plaster pad - imagining a big version of those ECG sticky electrodes with built in conduction gel - which is then connected to a smart phone app. That way we could look at our phones and see the baby on the screen, anytime. I'm sure the technology exists. That or I'm going high on pred.

Tumtimes1 · 06/01/2014 16:03

Thanks baking, Luna and Teamdozie
I'm loving the Today, I am pregnant vibe too. I am going to have that as my mantra.

I have emailed Louise at Shehata's clinic as per your advice - says shes out at the moment but I hope she sees the email when she gets back.
I can't remember how long I am supposed to take the pred for now, as it was so long ago I was prescribed it for the next pregancy. I have two months worth left though xxx

teamdozie · 06/01/2014 16:22

MrsP I'll be thinking of you on Wednesday! I hope you dont stress too much! Have you heard from the hospital yet?

Baking what a brilliant thought and mrsP that's a great idea about the pads! Has anyone seen the belly buds? I'm desperate for a pair! That's what we need connected to our phones lol!

Tum maybe give her a call! I always opt for that instead of an email! I think pred is until 9 weeks and then taper off! Could you get some from your GP? 2 months will be fine cause you'll be seeing them way before they run out!

Xx

MrsPixieMoo · 06/01/2014 16:27

Hello Tum. Congratulations on your BFP. It's stressful when you need answers isn't it?
I have NKC that are just jn the high range so a wee but higher than borderline. I got pregnant while waiting for results and am seeing Mr S on the NHS. His midwife started me on pred three days after I got my BFP, as it took a few days to get hold of anyone, so I was 16 dpo when I started. What she said was that they see a high proportion of ladies who get a BFP when on a break from pred and who start it as soon as they realise. Apparently although not ideal, the lower the NKC you have to start, the more likely this is to be as good as taking it from 1 dpo. I hope that's some comfort. She also told me that his protocol is to stay on pred until 12 weeks then taper. Best of luck with getting a response from Louise. She was really helpful to me when I couldn't get hold of anyone in the NHS but I know how frustrating it is waiting for instructions and prescriptions. Take care.

MrsPixieMoo · 06/01/2014 16:29

Hi Team I've waited all afternoon near the hospital and they've just told me to go home as no results yet and if I need antiserum I need to come back tomorrow.

What are belly buds?
